  1. We are very pleased with our entries so far. There are still places, and just over a week to go. Still time to enter your little ones with their baking creations!
  2. Not sure I would call thumping house music Rock n Roll! ;)
  3. It was towards the Upland Road end of Barry Road. Their house backs on to mine, so couldn't tell you where exactly. It was probably around 3.30 it finally stopped, so completely knackered today. Hope their little bender was a one off! Good point re calling 101, will remember that if there's a next time.
  4. Does anyone know who the annoying neighbours are who are playing their music on full volume with their doors open at 3am this morning? They live on Barry Road. I tried ringing the Noise pollution department, but they knock off at 1.30am. (Government cuts.) Looks like this could be a long night, my earplugs aren't working :(
  5. Two more entries today and a really good age range. We now have bakers from 5 - 11. Can't wait to see what they bake!
  6. Calling all budding young bakers! The Great East Dulwich Bake Off will take place at ED Warehouse, on the afternoon of Sunday 25th March. We are currently looking for children to compete in the UNDER-12s category. There are 20 spaces available, and it's first come first serve. Competitors are allowed ONE entry only, costing ?5.00. We will accept joint entries, so if a group of friends or class want to enter together, you are welcome. All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer's Society. Prizes include: a children's size Mason Cash mixing bowl & wooden spoon, and baking goodies, a gift voucher to spend in Rye Books. If you would like to register your interest, please email: [email protected] Please include, name, contact number, email address, and details of cake to be baked. More information can be found in the What's On section under Great East Dulwich Bake Off.
  7. Good point Saffron. Will definitely bear in mind for future advertising. I had actually rung up most schools beforehand, it was the ones I happened to pass that were tricky. Perhaps it was looking like a drowned rat from the rain that didn't help my cause!
  8. I have just spent the morning trying to drop leaflets to the primary schools of East Dulwich for a charity event, and what a hard task it proved to be. Since when did so many schools start running like prisons? I know they need to keep the children safe, but it was like trying to get into Fort Knox! Some schools were helpful and took the leaflets, but others were so unfriendly, and only take events organised by Southwark Council. What a shame that those children might now miss out on a lovely community event.
  9. We could have a section of photos of the offending dogs... name and shame them!
  10. David & Kezia used to do jive classes at the Telegraph Pub on Telegraph Hill. There's also Diamond Jive at the Railway Tavern in Tulse Hill. Used to be on a Monday. Both are inexpensive and a good way to learn. Miss Aloha at Hula Boogie is the nest though!!

You're probably right. I was thinking of doing this, but was having a rant on here today and posted instead!
  12. A rock n roll night would be great. It's been ages since I had a good jive!
  13. That makes sense. Fingers crossed it's sorted soon then. I can imagine school drop off is a nightmare, and the above should be aimed at them too!
  14. Actually it's not once a week. Monday and Tuesday evening the road was packed, and countless other times. There are lots of families that live down Henslowe, it's not unreasonable to want to park near ones house and not have to carry shopping/ children a long way. I know a country road belongs to everyone, that's why I personally don't want resident parking. All I'm asking is for a little consideration of residents & the environment.
  15. Maybe. I'm just not sure what a councillor can do. There are sprayed signs all over the pavement saying 'Bag it & Bin It'. At the end of the day, we all have to be responsible for our streets and that means clearing up our dogs poo. It's the main reason why I haven't got a dog, can't handle the smell of the poo!!
