  1. I would say that the news at 10 on ITV is up there as an informative piece of journalism along with the afore mentioned C4 at 7pm. I would say that most of the visual effects that are used, are so that everyone can understand what is going on in the world today, and that comes from poorer education, think back say 20-30 years ago, where there would be punctuation in titles and the news readers would use big words, now I would hear these words and go and look them up in a dictionary. Now people go and look things up on the internet, and sometimes they will find for example the U.S or Austrailian spelling and meaning of a word and then go about their business with that version of the word in their mind, thinking that it is right. Sorry I am rambling here. The crux of the matter is that the world is significantly smaller with the internet and people have a lot more information available to them, and they have a lot more ideas of what makes life more interesting, although most of the time it is having the reverse effect, as this thread has proved.
  2. Isn't religion and belief a personal thing? I find it funny that I found this thread the night after I watched the film "The man who sued God" If you get a chance I would recommend it. It is Billy Connely to a tee, it has the madness of trying to explain what an act of God is, and the fear of the church in having to prove that He does exist, and He being held accountable for these acts, against the insurance companies trying to prove that an act of God is just a term used to get out of paying out on natural disasters. Cian.
  3. Round of applause BBW!!!! It is about time that someone made a stand, although I think you could of left yourself wide open to another passenger getting involved, or worse him and his mates turning on you. I have been in a similar situation and opted for the standing and dancing option, it REALLY bugs them and then if you start asking them about the music and getting it all wrong, like asking if "50 cent" is "half dollar" or "eminem" is "skittles" ... that sort of thing. I am not that old, but I can remember going off to play with some friends of mine when I was about 10 and not telling my mum, and so she called the Police and they were looking for me all day, at the end of the day I came home and I got a clip round the ear from the Police sergent for wasting Police time and resources that day. That was about 20-ish years ago, and it was the same at school, if you stepped out of line you got physically punished Now, kids of 5 and 6 are turning round to teachers and kicking, punching and biting among other things because there is no respect for them, and they wonder why borough councils pay for recruitment over in places like Austrailia and New Zealand each year.
