ThanksFreddy. This orning I sawy a decorator in there so it was most probably him / them...but music at that time? Not on! -
Some advice please. In 2010, we had some subsidence in our kitchen (an extension) due to neighbours' gigantic lei landii (spelling?) trees (three!) being about 30 feet away. Anyway, the trees got cut down and our cracks repaired. Since then, our premium shot up astronomically. Now, the insurance company says our underwriters are no longer operating and I am having trouble finding a company to insure us. Anyone in the same predcament? Any recommendations as to whom to approach? Thanks.

Where can you recycle plant pots - plastic as well as clay? Have a few to get rid of. Thanks.

I never divulge what I pay for existing services - I always ask them to tell me what their charge will be. This is because they can easily undercut - an entry strategy - but before you know it, the price will have escalaed.

And Goodrich Road...with a school on it and children walking, skipping, running, etc. Inconsiderate, thoughtless and disgusting.

Wow! What a lot of bites! It's taken mine a week to subside with the help of antibiotics as well as antihistamines. Very nasty.

A few days ago I got bitten by something (not a biss or wasp as that stings) one evening sitting out in a friend's garden in ED...the next day my hand had swollen eonrmously, was red and hot, itching and painful all at the same time. I had to start a course of antibiotics and the pharmacist on North Cross Road told me that I was the third person she had seen that day with exactly the same reaction / symptoms and the three of us seemed to have been bitten on Wednesday evening! What coud it be???

Interesting to see all these posts. The trees I refer to affect a few of us and are a nuisance. I have no idea why people opt to buy property with gardens when they really are not interested in doing any maintenance whatsoever...The professionals that Molly refers to...who are they? And can the council help in any way?

Thank you all...

Interesting that you should say this...the trees thta had tp be removed a couple of years ago were more than three storeys or so high...their roots can come upto, if not under, our ktichen! One of these sychamores is as high as that...

Hiya, There are two sychamore trees quite close to the back of our house - some 40 foot and 55 foot away. Two years ago we had cracks appear suddenly, and deepen quickly, in our ktichen. It had been quite a dry season and the roots of three eonrmous leylandi (spelling??) trees had been held responsible following inspections and soil tests etc. The owner did the honourable thing and the leylandi were destroyed. At the time, we wereadvised that the sychamore was also a potential threat. Sadly, nothing has been done by the occupier to get rid of these trees (and no doubt there are others that are growing as they tend to spread quickly). any advice as to what we could do? We don't want to be hit by another "excess" charge if repairs are needed. Any sensible advice gratefully accepted! Thanks.

Brilliant idea. I would definitely go at least once a week. At present I go to the Ritzy, Clapham and the NFT...

Hi, we had something similar in 2010. The cause? Very tall leylandi trees in a neighbouring garden which were only 40 foot away from our house. It had been quite dry for months and the thinking was that the roots had spread even further looking for moisture and this caused cracks to appear overnight which deepened and lengthened within weeks. The trees were cut down and the problem resolved. But we still have a potential problem with neighbouring sychamore trees - not yet cut despite requests going back to 2010! > > I should have asked the surveyor more about this > when he came last november but didn't and the > insurance company have closed the case, so if > anyone can help me understand this problem I would > really appreciate it. > > L

Which police station serves SE22?
Shaila Shah replied to Shaila Shah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No! I want to report something to the POLICE at the police station. Went there on Wednesday mornnig to find it shut. Knocked etc but no reply. There did not seem to be anyone around.... paragon Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sorry, I am missing something. you want to involve > the police because the train station is closed? > > Surely speak to the train people! -
ED station is closed and there is no sign redirecting the public as to where they should go should they wish to register a complaint. Any ideas? Thanks.
