  1. Hmmm. Good point, well missed.
  2. To be clear, it was upright initially. It was only flat after it blew over! I agree it is weird though that the wind was sufficient to do that but it did - hence why we want to get it secured to prevent it happening in future.
  3. Hello, My wife had a very frightening experience this morning walking down Crystal Palace Rd to take our son to nursery. He stopped to look at a cement mixer (Bob the Builder fixated!) in a front garden and whilst he was standing there a very strong gust of wind lifted up a large section of metal grille fencing (6ft x 6ft)on the edge of the property high into the air - completely by chance it fell down sideways and landed across the pavement behind him but could just have easily hit him. My very shaken wife spoke to the builders (who saw it all from inside the house but then ducked down when seen) later on but they werent native English speakers and feigned ignorance of what she was trying to explain. Long intro, but what I want to know is who can we contact within the Council to try and ensure they secure the site properly? We were lucky this morning but when my wife walked back after nursery the fence had been put back (again very insecurely) into its concrete stand. We'd hate to have it happen again with worse consequences. She's contacted Building Regs people at council but they have made it clear it's not their responsibility re H&S on private properties. Any advice would be good. Thanks Dave
  4. Similar problems. I rang DMC on 23rd Sep to try and get an appointment with a nurse for an ear syringing (having played the phone lottery game with them from 08:30). Eventually got through as 5th caller of the day to be told the earliest they'd see me would be 24th Oct (4 weeks). Crazy.
  5. 08:19 from Denmark hill to Farringdon / City thameslink was diverted to Victoria. Points failure between E&C and Blackfriars.
  6. HKE, What time was this?
  7. No - but I did hear someone running down Heber Road last night shouting "I'm running down Heber Road towards Crystal Palace..." which seemed odd at the time. Didn't see anyone though. Makes sense now.
  8. Thanks Police. Can you confirm the hours that the SNTs operate?
  9. Matty, ED Safer Neighbourhood team is 0208 721244
  10. Steve T Contact details for the East Dulwich SNT are: 07920 233912 eastdulwich.snt@met.police.uk Dave
  11. Not a window cleaner, but my wife answered the door to a young (early 20s) skinny white guy this evening who said his company were offering free surveys of Victorian houses external walls (!). He said that 'your neighbours had suggested I call in the evening as they would be out at work all day - is that the same for you' and then handed over a flyer and asked for a home telephone number (no doubt to ring up to check if anyone at home). My wife said we didn't have a home phone, only a mobile, to which he said they couldn't take a mobile number unless we also gave him a home number and promptly took the flyer back and walked off. Very unsettling and feel well and truly cased - beware. Heber Road by the way. Anyone else experienced the same? I will be emailing the Safer Neighbourhood team to make them aware.
  12. No - didn't seem to be, plenty of gunk everywhere!
  13. Just got home from a weekend away to find a smattering of egg and a broken front window. Grrrr. Did anyone in the Heber area experience any tricks Fri / Sat night?!
  14. Curmudgeon, To be clear (if you're happy to say) - did this happen on Heber Rd? Dave
  15. Quick update for everyone. I PM'ed Sgt Jackson on the ED SNT on Wed and asked if he was aware of this issue. He was, and they were planning on upping the SNT presence in the area. The mobile police station was parked in Grove Vale on Fri (and should be there again today). They have arrested the individual for breach of his existing ASBO and he is due in Crown Court next week. Sgt Jackson mentioned they received a number of witness statements from the public at the mobile Police Station on Fri. All in all I think it's an excellent example of what can be achieved when the community (and the Forum) work closely with the SNTs - let's just hope the justice system works and the problem is resolved (and by the sound of it the individual gets the help they need). Dave
  16. FYI the contact details for the East Dulwich SNT are: 07920 233912 eastdulwich.snt@met.police.uk I think this thread is a perfect example of the type of activity the SNTs are here to deal with. If you can pass as much info on to them to allow them to build up a picture of the individual and his movements then they can look to focus resources on dealing with the issue. I'll also send a PM to the Sgt, Duncan Jackson. At the last Ward Panel meeting we were asking for priorities for the SNT to pursue and I think this fits the bill admirably. Hopefully they may well be able to alter foot patrol routes and timings to increase their presence in Grove Vale at likely times of trouble (once they know). It will be nice case study to see what the SNT can achieve. Dave
  17. MW74, Just to reiterate what Mark said: calling 999 is less likely to get a response just to a siting and will certainly be 'prioritised' out of existence pretty quickly. Ringing the SNT however will actually have the opposite effect as this sort of activity is their main priority - building up intelligence and being bodies on the ground dealing with anti-social activities as well as actual crime. There are always patrols out during a shift so the nearest should respond pretty quickly. I mentioned on another thread that the SNT is really keen at the moment to up its profile and explain more fully its role and priorities - we (I am a member of the Ward Panel that meets regularly to set priorities for SNT in ED) are working on that at the moment and there should be a lot more info / contact details on here soon. It also worth noting that SNT were set up to interact very closely with the community and actually have their priorities set by them. If these people are known to hang out in a certain area and cause issues there regularly, then the SNT will alter their shift patterns etc to confront them. Only point to note though is that I think FHT actually falls in Peckham Rye SNT rather than ED but the info to follow should clear that up. Dave
  18. Hello All, Just picking up on a comment earlier on this thread re SNT's, I attend the regular Ward Panel meetings which set the priorities for the East Dulwich SNT and we agreed in the last meeting to raise the presence on the EDF and provide everyone with a proper overview of the remit and scope of the ED SNT and also access to the relevant contact details. I've spoken to Mark as well and he is happy to help to make sure the message gets the coverage it needs. The Forum is a great tool for raising concerns like this one and equally the SNT's will really benefit and be able to tailor their response if the kind of local intelligence the forum provides can be channelled to them effectively. Watch this space for the details in the next few days and if anyone fancies coming along to see how the SNT functions then the next Ward Panel meeting is tomorrow (20 Feb) at 7pm at the ED Police station. Thanks Dave
