Walked to the Rye as per normal and just as I got to the bus stop and was wondering whether to wait or walk, a 363 appeared. :) On way to Elephant now but need to pick up a 63 to take me on to Farringdon. Fingers crossed, but if not I can get the train.

Recycling boxes (please stop nicking them)
JenniferJ replied to TJ's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks HonaloochieB, I will eliminate you from the 'possible' list ;-) I have calmed down a bit more, just worried that my careful recycling could now be in a bin somewhere - I am a greenie and can't bear the thought of any of my paper ending up in landfill. Also, I am having a serious clear-out and now probably will have to wait a week before a new bag arrives, so have nowhere to put my recycling till then, humph. All I'll repeat is 'hang your head in shame' to the culprit... -
Recycling boxes (please stop nicking them)
JenniferJ replied to TJ's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just home after a spot of dinner and our recycling bag (FULL!) has been nicked from Upland Road. If you are the culprit hang your head in shame, it's pathetic. I'll now have to order more from the council - that's what you should have done mr /ms thieving *@!&$**! Amazed this has happened in this day and age. Sorry to innocent others for this rant but this has really got my goat. -
Door knocking scammers again on St Aidan's?
JenniferJ replied to Crystal Tips's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi Crystal Tips, Same happened to my boyfriend 2 nights ago, we're on Upland Rd. Said she was from "no 120" and her meter had run out. He offered to boil the kettle for a cuppa, but she declined and was on her way. She was after ?7. Sad to be scamming at Christmas time... -
Yeah :)) I think cats like to keep you on your toes! Ps She's gorgeous.

Do You Know Anyone Who Has Been Mugged Recently?
JenniferJ replied to gerry's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've lived in ED for 4 years and so far so safe. However, know a girl who was mugged on Townley Road a few months back - it was very dark and there is no way I will walk down that road after dark. -
I really hope the trap idea was not serious. It is incredibly inhumane and I for one am shocked to see this 'suggestion' from a forumite. :X
-
Here are a few tips: 1) Apparently they get confused with uneven fences as they can't jump them. 2) Try getting the man in your life to pee around the boundaries of your garden (could pee in a cup and then 'water' if getting it out in public offends!) 3) Someone also mentioned they are put off by Lion poo - anyone fancy a trip to the zoo?! :))

Can lil old me come along - never been to drinks before but been on the forum for ages....?

I took a rug to sit on and the OH and I had a blanket each for warmth and cushions too. A few beers and we were set, though agree that some took their picnicing very seriously! What's the sketch on shakespeare?

I had a lovely evening, despite being bitten alive by midges! Let's hope there's another one soon as it was so good to be under the stars watching a great film :))

Hi - has she come home yet? I am around all day tomorrow so can have a good search in the area if you like so let me know. Best, Jen

26 Lordship Lane [next door to White Stuff] (Lounged)
JenniferJ replied to Ultraconsultancy's topic in The Lounge
Probably not, but we're pretty well catered for now: Organic veggies Fresh Fish / Meat & Game Deli / Cheese Coffee / Tea shops Sweets Pampering / Make up (Dr Boo) Lunch / Dinner Clothes Furniture Books Cook shop Flowers / Plants plus the odd charity shop! Can anyone think of something else we actually NEED, I can't...and I'd rather shops were occupied that lying empty. -

Oliver Bonas is a lovely little shop to have, I think we should be grateful as it could be a LOT worse. I too have lived in ED for years and am concerned about the volume of buggies and middle classness however if it means the area is on the up we should all be grateful as it means the place should be a nicer place to live and grow into. -

Hi, I'd certainly be up for tetra pack recycling as I have a load waiting to be posted off as it's the only facility we have. Address is on my pinboard at home but think I found it on the Southwark council site. Jen x

I was put off visting this eating place for ages when I first moved to ED a few years back, due to the tacky exterior. However, I have to say I love it, good food, reasonable prices and the decor makes for a lighthearted evening. I'd recommend trying it if you haven't been before, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Frankly I can't keep up. Moved to ED over 3 years ago and it's unrecognisable from the quaint place i fell in love with. However, that said, it's appealing to the lazy sod in me as i can get everything in ED now and never have to venture into town ever again if I don't want! just wish there were't so many baby buggies on the pavements and screaming kids in Le Chandelier of a morning / lunchtime(though the benefit of a spiral staircase is evident ;-) )x

But what is Sugar?!
-
I'll certainly keep an eye out for him - he's sure to turn up, don't give up hope - will let you know if I see him, he's lovely x
-
Hey - sorry, but what is Sugar? A boutique of some sort or a ploy by Dulwich Dentists to increase their business? Jen x

Missing Tabby from Upland Road - now safely home
JenniferJ replied to JenniferJ's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well I had a good nights sleep last night I can tell you! However it was odd that when he came in he wasn't cold or wet given the weather. He didn't smell the same as normal either, wonder if he did get stuck somewhere or was hiding out from 'El Gringo' which is how we refer to the other tabby on the block. Either way we are glad he's home, though anxious he doesn't do that again in a hurry. Thanks again for all the advice and detective work! Jen x -

Thank you all so much, after spending the evening worrying and putting together a poster and registering on various websites for lost pets, he walked through the cat flap 5 minutes ago!! He has just hoovered up 3 sachets of cat food and a large quantity of biscuits. Thanks so much for the kind words and helpful advice, they have been the only things getting me through the day. Hugs, Jen xx -

Thanks Carter, Have just phoned the vet, thanks for the reminder didn't enter my head and is so obvious. Will let the agents know too. Nero, He is a much loved cat and perfectly happy but as I mentioned he has been having stand offs with another Tabby so he may either be avoiding further confrontation or hurt. The other possiblity of being trapped somewhere is also on my mind. Any sightings or advice most grateful, Jen
