Keep them coming indeed. Dogs and their dog owners must be held to account. Remember, we see who you are. You don't know us. The quiet silent majority that's saying "enough is enough." Sort it out once and for all.

I'm not one to praise the powers that be. But well done Southwark Council, everything seems to be running far more smoothly than in the past.

What happened to the possible extension of the 63 bus?
TonyQuinn replied to Evie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Gerrard, I can assure you I have no intention of representing you in anyway whatsoever. My comment was just a general gauge of the comments flowing on this thread. Renata, I have been in touch with the Southwark crew regarding the junction of Forest Hill Road/Honor Oak Road/Honor Oak Park and they said the same about the cost. They assured me other "improvements" would be addressed going all the way down FHR to Colyton Road, but that nothing was planned for what is clearly the most dangerous part of the road. To see a car having to be dragged out of the school gates was a reminder of what's at stake up there. What happened to the possible extension of the 63 bus?
TonyQuinn replied to Evie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Mr Barber, I really do appreciate your involvement in this forum regardless of what one thinks of what your colleagues in Westminster are doing. In the meantime, I think it's clear here that the large chunk of the affected people have no desire for the 63 to be extended. It would be a huge waste of money, money that could better spent making the roads round here a little safer. This afternoon, some guy went straight into the gates of Francesca Cabrini school. Thank God it was Saturday. I have no idea how he got stuck in the gates but I'm pretty sure the chaotic nature of that junction is to blame. I have raised my concerns over the traffic at the top of Forest Hill Road ad nauseum with the folks at Southwark Council but nothing has been done. 10,000 quid would be better spent there than a feasibility study into the merits of extending the 63 bus. Please relay this to your colleagues at the council Mr Barber and Ms/Miss/Mrs Hamvas. -

Neilson99, you clearly haven't read any of this thread. The problems have been identified especially well by Katrusja. -
What happened to the possible extension of the 63 bus?
TonyQuinn replied to Evie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think the concept of the essential end goal is important. Clearly now that the Overground has been extended to Clapham Junction via Surrey Quays and incorporates Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye, it would make a great deal of sense to connect those two stations with Honor Oak Park. But a double decker bus, whether 63 from Peckham Rye, is unacceptable. I think everyone accepts that a single decker bus would work. There must be some brains at Southwark and Lewisham Councils who could work something out. However, I have sought safety improvements on Forest Hill Road for a while now but the cycle of delivery looks the same. An assurance that improvements were coming, then silence, then reactivation of complaint, another assurance improvements were coming, followed by silence. I know there are severe cutbacks (accept your party line Mr Barber) but come on concillors, try and serve your community. -

Snow debate is a diversion.....the points raised by Katrusja about the size of the road, the narrowness of the pavements, the implications on parking and the rhythm of this little corner of London and its oommunity are the reasons why this nonsensical proposal to extend the 63 has to be binned immediately. -

Katrusja, that must rank in my top 5 of posts I have read on this forum over the years. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to go way beyond my sparse concerns. And Ms/Miss/Mrs Hamvas, I have no problem with the 63 being extended one stop to terminate at the Cemetery Gates. That would clearly plug a gap for many residents and I think is the best short-term solution. Constructive proposal which compares favourably with Mr Barber's "full steam ahead" approach. -

Mr Barber, once again it seems you have not read one's opinion. Please consider what I have written above. I promise you things like this are not just "full steam ahead" which seems to be the way you practice your politics. What happened to the possible extension of the 63 bus?
TonyQuinn replied to Evie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
In theory, the extension down to Honor Oak Park makes sense. In practice, it has to be a non-starter. Top of Forest Hill Road is already busy enough, the turn down to the station by Cabrini school way too tight for it to be done safely many times a day. What makes it all the more difficult is the drive down to Honor Oak Park. The street is too narrow to accommodate a big red bus, there's little room for the P4 or P12 too. As an aside, the pavements down Honor Oak Park are way too small. The priority there has to be to make them bigger, not to allow big booming buses go down, -
Jogging along Brenchley Gardens the other day spotted 15 sets of dog turd in the space of 200 meters. Dog owners, it's clearly not the case of one or two bad apples. Sort it out.

I think maxxi is right about the problems associated with the redesign at Green & Blue but clearly they were caught in a vice. Rent was going up seemingly and necessitated a response. This was the one they came up with. It didn't work for me either but you can't blame the guys at G&B. It's getting to be a concern what's going on on the strip but it's not just independents suffering. Look at Comet (last trading day today), JJB Sports, Clinton Cards and many many more.....these are tough times, but good times will return and those that have the spunk to invest now will likely reap the dividends. Why don't we all club together and set up our own eastdulwichforum shop.

Dog attack in Dulwich Park this afternoon

I don't remember the dog too much , was in the middle of a run and carried on. It was fairly small, luckily, so was no big deal. -

I was attacked by a dog last week on Peckham Rye Common. My view is that man and dog can no longer co-exist. -
Dr Cliffe is the best......hilarious too!

As I have stated on more than one occasion on dog pooh related threads. We, the majority, have to pursue a policy of zero tolerance, extreme prejudice on all dogs and their owners. I'm afraid there's no other solution to this scar on society.

Who's Ann Summers?

It shouldn't look shite.....go to Bespoke Windows and check out how good they can look nowadays. Wooden frames add to the elegance.
-
Please people, just relax....our man is just saying that the pub name won't be O'Neill's or something similar. If there's no Irish connection, why should it have an Irish name. Mr Harvey, you'll soon find out that being on this forum is more hassle than its worth.
-
Going back to the main point of this thread. We have great Upvc windows with wooden frames from Bespoke, top end windows group in Dulwich. Don't take my word for it. Go and have a look and those snobs out there, I repeat, go back to Clapham or Surrey.
-
The snobbery on this thread provides further evidence of how Dulwich has gone to the dogs the last ten years. We got some great Upvc windows from Bespoke Windows. They work for us, they work for our Victorian house and they work for our street. Those who don't think so...bugger off back to Clapham.

Mr/Mrs/Ms Administrator...I suggest you lock this thread. It's obviously a wind-up and causing undue concern. This thread is one of the reasons why this forum, a great local tool for so long, is losing its credibility, and fast.

Sally Crew and Jack Ricketts [email protected] and [email protected] These are the council's current minimal plans https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=760 They don't address any of the speeding issues at the top of Forest Hill Road, particularly with the junctions with Honor Oak Road, Honor Oak Rise, Netherby Road. I have written to them to state my concerns about the speed with which cars hit this area both going up and down. Also relayed to them my concerns over limited sightlines and the lack of any zebra crossing by the bus stop. All in all, we need to convince authorities action needs to be done. Part of the problem is that Southwark and Lewisham are at loggerheads over what to do. The more we complain, the more likely we can knock heads together.
-
All those concerned about the situation on Forest Hill Road, please ring up the council as soon as possible. I will be ringing them up again tomorrow. The more we complain about what's going on and insist on action, the greater likelihood of change. I often walk with my son in his pram up the hill and find it traumatic crossing Brenchley Gardens. The Honor Oak Rise/Forest Hill Road junction seems to have improved though. The other problem is, who's jurisdiction is it? Southwark or Lewisham?
-
This is a serious source for concern. I used to live on Barry Road and was always shocked by the speed liberties some people take. It's worse on Forest Hill Road. As for the council, I asked them specifically about this 15 odd months ago and they said they had concluded their assessment and were planning traffic calming measures. 15 months on, nothing, apart from a slight tweaking around the Cabrini school. Where are the zebra crossings, a few bollards, something. Council, do something, or else.
