Not sure about the name but Watsons General Telegraph on Forest Hill Road is the much bigger resurrection of Inside Seventy Two from back in the day. For those who don't, back in 2004 or so, Inside 72 was the place to be. Catching the cusp of the transition of the neighbourhood and before the smoking ban. It was super cool. This place, successor to the Rose, reminded me of that vibe. Quality vinyl being played. Good range of beers too.

No water in Honor oak park area
TonyQuinn replied to Love_London's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I rang up Thames Water and they say it's a leak in SE26 that's caused this problem and that the problem will be difficult to fix and that those on high ground will suffer the most. However, they laid out the hope that water pressure will return out of peak time. Nothing yet though. -
I will not nail my political colours to any mast on the forum but the worry I have of you as our prospective MP is that you are another member of the political class. I looked at your LinkedIn page and it doesn't seem to suggest that you've done anything beyond positioning yourself for a life in politics. The one thing this country's politics needs is people who have lived a life beyond politics. What are your views on how a political class has effectively taken over the governing of us all? Where are the teachers, the miners, the captains of industry, the nurses or the layabouts....surely you agree that they represent us more?

I grew up in Wimbledon but have lived the last 15 years in Dulwich. I would say that AFC WImbledon would probably beat Dulwich Hamlet but with football you never know!

Also get in touch with your MP who I assume is Harriet. Either on email or just turn up at her surgery on Friday. She'll bang heads together. -
Spung up on home page not good either....you really have to check everything, once, twice and thrice. It's a bad first impression.

Forest Hill Road (opinion on shop fronts and signs)
TonyQuinn replied to Anstergirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Love Si Mangia and Sea Master. Galleon looks good but too expensive for me. Pharmacy has space, what more does one want? French Cafe, what a turnaround? And the Forest Hill Supermarket is a peach. Post Office great luminous and spacious too. Let's applaud this under-rated stretch. And why not finish it off with a pint at the Herne or the Rose? -

Didn't Crossman live in Dulwich too? What about Crosland? Did Barbara Castle have a flat on Nunhead side of Peckham Rye? Roy Jenkins, I have it in good authority, used to squat up at some flat on Champion Hill. -

I'm sure I saw a van very similar to this yesterday.....will call you. -
That is really depressing news.....one of Dulwich's finest establishments. Those guys are great.

Neighbour from hell - advice please!
TonyQuinn replied to BecsBex's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You have no other option but to move....why put yourself through this misery. It ain't going to get any better. Let Haart know what you've been through. Tell the owner of the flat you're renting what you've been through. This is the responsibility of Haart and owner of your flat. -
The great news is that our friend turned carnivore and all for the weekend.....so no vegan restaurant required. Thanks for all advice and diversions.
-
Think that is a very good suggestion so rang up Ganapati straight away but unfortunately they are closed on Monday evening.
-
We have a vegan turning up and just wondering if anyone knows of any eatery round this neck of the woods that offers this crazy food alternative?

Diverted 63 bus route - Marmora & Therapia Roads
TonyQuinn replied to OD's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Clearly there are issues about the 63 bus going down backstreets. But those worries should not preclude the urgent need to make Forest Hill Road safer. The works planned will help but in my view don't go far enough. 3, let's say 4, months of disruption is a small price to pay in terms of the bigger picture. -
Worry is that this post will prompt a flood of attacks on the local VW community. Now that everyone has been told what to do. Always keep one bit of the key information out.

Theiving cleaner in east dulwich
TonyQuinn replied to polla2256's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Mr/Mrs/Ms Administrator....I think you have to remove this thread. With all respect to the OP, there is no evidence here that the named cleaning company was involved. Circumstantial sure, but this forum can't be in the business of destroying businesses without undue care. I will be messaging you direct about this. -
Herne Tavern play area to be demolished
TonyQuinn replied to cazzyr's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
All sounds very impressive and wish you all the best. One question I have is that we have hired the back bit one day in August for a mum and kid's combined birthday bash.....will the back still be there? Does our reservation still hold? -
Sainsbury's always has them stocked up.

Carpgirl, I think TeriG could do without your commiserations. In all my years on this forum, I don't think I have ever read such a pompous post. Your kids are not raised in fear, they've been raised to love & respect all life forms whether human or animal. What tripe! TeriG says her boyfriend was attacked by a scary dog....QED it was a scary dog. Anyway, the point is TeriG's partner did the right thing and reported the incident to the police and I hope these bullies get their comeuppance.

You better have called the police. Ludicrous to hide round a pretence of pacificism. Don't mean to sound mean, but this sort of stuff needs to be dealt with by the proper authorities so it doesn't happen again. Tell your bloke to man up and give the police a call NOW. How would he feel if a young kid is mauled?

Complaining about traffic on Forest Hill Road
TonyQuinn replied to TonyQuinn's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have decided now when I walked down the hill I will never do so on the One Tree Hill side. Too dangerous by far. The other day saw a lunatic white van driver veer onto the pavement. And we all know how narrow that pavement is. Walk against the traffic people, far safer by far. And all those who haven't and wish to please add this to the myriad of complaints that most local residents have as regards Forest Hill Road/Honor Oak Road/Honor Oak Rise. Names/emails in the opening thread.
