  1. Really appreciate your response Tessa and hope that you can deliver this message to Lord Adonis over tea and biscuits before the next Cabinet meeting - the residents of Dulwich are dismayed at the utter shambles that is First Crapital Connect and demand changes. Then tell the PM himself, if you could. All the best Tony
  2. I should have added the following: To contact Tessa as the Labour Member of Parliament for Dulwich & West Norwood, please write to: Rt. Hon. Tessa Jowell MP House of Commons Westminster London SW1A 0AA Telephone number - 020 7219 3409 Fax number - 020 7219 2702 E-mail address - [email protected]
  3. Here is Paul Burstow's Early Day Motion from yesterday. Please encourage Tessa to sign the EDM. 623 TERMINATION OF RAIL FRANCHISE OF FIRST CAPITAL CONNECT 18:1:10 Mr Paul Burstow Mr Andrew Pelling That this House believes that the ongoing disruption to First Capital Connect service travelling into London needs to stop; deplores the severe reduction in timetabled services due to mismanagement by First Capital Connect, which has not employed enough drivers to cover the shifts needed; is concerned that commuters are having to find alternate routes into work and school, adding considerable time and expense to their daily journeys; notes the petition on the Number 10 website calling on the Prime Minister to act on this matter; calls on the Secretary of State for Transport to recognise this gross lack of competence; further notes that the current disruption is a breach of the franchise; and further calls on the Secretary of State for Transport to serve immediate notice to terminate the franchise agreement with First Capital Connect and to offer the franchise to a more capable organisation.

  5. Mr Jones, I appreciate your involvement but really unsure about what you mean. Anyway, it is my great pleasure to report that my journey into work was textbook. As I arrived at Denmark Hill, the 8.26 was arriving, and it was one of those glammed up pink ones and not too crowded. It was a joyous start to the day, door to door in less than an hour. That was the first journey this week that went to plan (forgetting snow on Wednesday) and I can honestly say that over the last month or two I can count the number of quality journeys like this morning's on one hand. So, the laws of probability conclude that it's a case of luck, the way the stars are aligned, whatever. The announcer at Kings Cross after all said the following two trains were cancelled because of technical faults. Therefore commuters, please sign petition if you wish. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/FirstCC/
  6. Point taken! I will rest this issue up once and for all and come back in a month or so maybe on this issue maybe on something else. Enjoy Dulwich people! Much love Tone
  7. I appreciate your comment Pope (can I call you Pope?). Tone has never been my strong point. Passion has and I am passionate about the parlous state of First Crapital Connect, as you can probably tell.
  8. I take your point Mockney but I'm not here to make friends, honest. If I were, I clearly failed. I appreciate the job the administrator does and join in the debates on this forum as and when I think it is merited. My initial query on this was about First Crapital Connect. My view, contrary to yours is that it's garbage and has got worse and worse and we should do what we can to improve things. So sign the petition people but only if you agree with it. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/FirstCC/
  9. Tell you what I think should happen Sean. Go to the Mag and ask them to bring back comedy night. Sure you would be an absolute hoot....you certainly have me in stitches.
  10. Indeed, I am highly stressed about the daily commute and urge everyone again to sign the petition. Stand up for your rights for an adequate train service...no other European nation would put up with this garbage. There would be riots, burning of carriages, something going on. Here is the petition once again. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/FirstCC/
  11. No need to swear even in code mate. I have looked at the lounge and posted the petition on there for you all to peruse and to contribute to. Yours forever Tony

  13. No DaveR, i have no interest in running this forum but do think this forum contributes a lot to our little spot in town. I think most people only look at the main page....I have never looked in the Lounge. And I think that getting rid of my issue about train services around our hood diminishes the potential for us to make a meaningful difference. There's an inconsistency here...we have winter travel updates etc on the front page, but not something that wants to make our winter travel better. That's all.
  14. Sue, I'm talking about the administrator cos he/she has lounged a petition to Downing Street to rid us all of FirstCrapitalConnect, which I think is a major issue for residents of East Dulwich. http://www.firstcrapitalconnect.co.uk/
  15. Is it apt that we should give so much power to one individual about what matters to residents of East Dulwich or not? Answers on a postcard please cos I doubt this missive will last long?
  16. Siduhe, I apologise if I was harsh but that is what FirstCrapitalConnect does. Getting rid of them will make East Dulwich an even better place to live....that's what we all want. Here's the link to the petition again. http://www.firstcrapitalconnect.co.uk/
  17. What the hell are you talking about, it's not an East Dulwich issue? How do thousands and thousands of East Dulwich people commute to work every day? What a ludicrous line of thought? Administrator, I urge you again to reinstall it on the home page. It is a matter of grave importance for the community you dedicate your life to.
  18. Outrageous behaviour by the administrator I believe. Where is the epetition re First Capital? It just disappeared. If people can't use this forum to highlight issues that affect every day life in Dulwich, then what is the point? I insist that you put it back. If it's good enough for Downing Street website, then it's good enough for the East Dulwich Forum don't you think?
  19. I've had it up to here with the jokers that run the Thameslink route. I never thought I'd say this but "Bring back Thameslink." Anyway, just found this site, I respect the person who has started it and urge every fellow Dulwichite to sign the epetition for 10 Downing Street and send an email to Lord Adonis, the Transport Secretary. We will be a happier community if we rid ourselves of these jokers who pretend to run our railway but instead pocket our hard-earned cash. http://www.firstcrapitalconnect.co.uk/ I wish us luck Tony
  20. Mothernature, yes, traffic lights would help, but only if put in with speed cameras and new parking restrictions around junctions.
  21. Mr Barber, wrote you a comment on the Barry/Underhill thread.
  22. Mr Barber. I've written on this forum about this before, and written to the council too. Barry Road has been a nightmare for many a year. I remember being woken up early one morning when a car bombing it down Barry hit a car trying to come out of Upland. One of the cars ended by the entrance to Barry's Off License. If it had been any other time of day, there would have been many casualties, that's for sure. Barry Road needs to be fixed and fast. And while we're on it, its nearly impossible to get out onto Lordship Lane from many sidestreets such as Goodrich. Blind spots are huge, what with all the vehicles, many of which are big white vans, parked write up to the corner and most drivers around treating both Lordship and Barry as Silverstone. Tony
  23. Everyone please stop moaning. I ended up walking from Denmark Hill up towards library yesterday evening and was amazed at the standstill on the roads, the chaos that had been wrought by a couple of inches of snow. But I have to tip my hat to the advances made overnight. Most of the main roads are clear. Obviously, the little roads are icey and problematic but I think the council has done as much as it could, and certainly has done more than it did in February.
  24. I like SE22, my Mrs certainly does....I have one quibble though. Why does Surma still have a photograph in his front window claiming to be Lordship Lane curry house of the year. That presentation must have been made three years ago. Time for a new vote SE22.
