  1. This is a thread I started a while back... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,419890,419916#msg-419916
  2. Please Mr Barber.....do not deceive us. You are with the Tories now. You understand the implications of what your leadership has done. Laws has gone.....where will you go when the big man Nick goes too.?
  3. The Observer "left-wing" eh......shows how right-wing you must be! Porter has been writing the same column for five years....
  4. I suggest you all watch A Very British Coup for the only proper Labour government since Attlee's.....Ray McAnally, the greatest Labour Prime Minister ever.
  5. Mr Barber When you knocked on my door a month or two back, you seemed like a fairly decent person. And I'm sure you are going through the wringer about all this. I told you, why would I want to vote Liberal (Nick Cohen in Observer is right, the Social Democratic side of the party has been ignored) when you would back a Tory government. You dismissed such talk as nonsense! Who's being nonsensical now? The point is your party has betrayed the vast bulk of people who voted for you (everyone I know who voted Liberal did so on the assumption it would help keep the Tories out). The Liberal Party is finished and most of the people who left Labour will go back home. In any case, your party will split soon enough as the full implication of what your leadership has done becomes clear.....the next election will be a straight choice between a Tory government and a Labour government. BTW I was down at the Dulwich Festival in the park yesterday and there was a book there about the balance of power within the political parties, written in 1954. In his introduction, the author said he had relegated the Liberal Party to the appendix because they were an irrelevance. Mr Barber, your party is heading that way. The irony of finally getting in bed with the Tories. As I said on another thread, you and your colleagues have a choice. Resign or defect! Your choice. I do honestly wish you the best because as I said, and surmised from your intro above, your heart's not in it. Tony
  6. I repeat....please the great and good of East Dulwich....bugger off if you're not going to address my question! Boring, like most things end up on these forum...in fact most it's always the same people who spoil it all for everyone. Address the issue if you want to comment but my question was addressed to the people above.
  7. I want to be honest.....I did not want a debate by the great and the good of what was right or wrong about Labour in government or hear the boring inanities of folks like Woof....there are other threads for that. I want to hear from the powers that be how they feel about their party's embrace of the Tories. Are you happy about this? Are you aware what's in the offing?
  8. Local councillors.....is this why you joined the Liberal Democrats, to prop up a Tory government? You know, what's going to happen, you guys are going to take a hell of a beating next time! You have a choice....resign or defect. I'm not a Labour Party member and think the party should certainly go into opposition and I also have never really held any grudges against your party but I guarantee you that the bulk of the votes you got came from left leaning individuals here in East Dulwich. How can you look at these people in the eye again. Mrs Mitchell and Barber, I spoke to you a couple of months ago and told you both that this scenario would emerge. You both denied it and suggested I was nuts. Shame on you! Tony
  9. At the end of the day, you are either blue or red. This spells the end of the Liberal Democrats as a force in British politics. If they can't advance in these conditions, with a media fawning at them, then why will anyone in the future ever vote for them. If they do a deal with the Tories, which is looking increasingly likely, then the LibDems are ...toast. Their party will split. But to be fair, it's not been a great night for Labour. Maybe a period in opposition while the Tory/Lib Dem alliance falls apart may be its best bet to win the next election on October 28. As for the Tories, if they can't win under these conditions, with a supine press, Ashcroft's billions, an unpopular leader of the Labour Party, well how will they win. Those are my early thoughts....but the British, they've always loved farce. It's been 30 years since Fawlty Towers. One last thought, what about Prime Minister Harman?
  10. I have my Vote Labour poster on my window and proud of it.....saw another one at the dry cleaners next to EDT. Question is not where are the reds.....where are the hell are the blues? Thought they were on course to be the government...Yeah, right!

    Election

Mr/Mrs/Ms administrator......I think you should get rid of this thread, otherwise this forum risks becoming like youtube.
  12. Mick, I apologise for misinterpreting your initial nugget. It was 5 hours of sport at its very best, and however much I may have wanted Westwood to win, Mickelson was a worthy winner. The really sad thing is that the BBC is set to lose the rights, meaning that from next year you will have to have a Sky Sports subscription to watch this great sporting event.
  13. Exactly reet, as if there isnt enough choice. BBC only has eight days of golf a year and those of us who love the game really relish Sunday at Augusta. I'm sorry Mick that there is no celebrity reality show on this evening but I'm sure you can find Come Dine with me somewhere.

    tessa

Moos, you are absolutely right, no evidence on this thread for my intervention. There's another thread that really did my nut and I should have commented on that one.

Whatever you think of the Labour Party, it's pretty rich of you Mitch to make the suggestion that Tessa does not show her face around Dulwich. She's always around doing something. On a wider point, every comment I've read about the election has been laced with cynicism and complacency. My view is that if you don't believe in the political process and have no intention of voting, then don't bother commenting and subjecting the rest of the world to your lack of interest. Politics matters!
  16. Go to Rye, way better than Brighton......
  17. I think that any April Fool that is exposed within one post should be put into a new Hall of Shame section.....what do you think Mr/Mrs/Ms Administrator?
  18. I launched my campaign (Dulwich version) to strip First Crapital Connect of its license on this forum, and Tess, or at least one of her office, got in touch with me on the day. Again, not bad. Go Tessa go!
  19. Martin, stay on script.....there are many people on this forum obsessed with process and where something should be. East Dulwich has an epidemic of OCD. Get on message Martin....the merits of your case are the debate. My penny's worth is, you're probably right, but need to keep those Tories out!
  20. I'm going to forward you my mate too....
  21. Do not fear Moos, he/she/they read everything.....I have had my share of debating with them.
  22. *Anna* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why has this been moved? > Its much more important in the 'general > discussion' area as people try and get home or to > and from Dulwich. Anna, I agree with you....the administrator took off one of my threads from the main section, a transport issue, that they said was not East Dulwich specific. Well Mr/Mrs/Ms administrator, I repeat....a little more flexibility. I assume many of the passengers on the bus were East Dulwich residents, therefore this thread was perfectly suited to the main section.
  23. You're nowhere near 3,000 posts flapjack.
  24. After nearly 3,000 posts, you probably don't have much more to say....
  25. I brought up the canal route above, and concur with others.....no need to cycle there during the dark, take the parallel streets, either side. And wear bright clothing and never stick your finger up at a driver.....I did once and he skated in and out of traffic to kill me. I eventually got away and went to the police. PC: "Can I help you?" Me: "Yes, I'd like to report an attempted murder...." PC: "Who's sir?" Me: "Mine...." Even though there were CCTV cameras all about, they weren't working that day....otherwise they would have had evidence of the ordeal this maniac put me through. All good bits of advice. TQ
