  8. The bag thing was part of their environmental policy which I agree with. They did sell canvas ones. Doesn't take much to take a bag with you.

  13. When we received the plans for this from the council they were supposed to put some road markings and signs in but it has always just looked like a half completed job. As I live on the corner of Spurling and Crawthew I am aware how many near misses there are and whilst a cyclist, I do understand why car drivers are surprised to see a bike coming down a one way street 'the wrong way'.
  14. The postman said that he must sleep in his car! Im no expert on how much a person urinates nor do I want to be. Just object to it being left on my doorstep!
  15. Probably not if they are a cab driver who spends his time pissing in his car!
  16. Wasnt prepared to find out.
  17. 5 bottles on my doorstep deposited yesterday. Postman let me know. Disgusting!
  18. I love this thread as I thought the same to and as they often get dumped on my doorstep I would love to know what they contain. However curosity hasnt got the better of me. Maybe its an art project!
  19. You have definitely carved the end.
  20. However because of subsidies we don't actually pay the correct cost of our food. We also proportionally spend less on food. At one point it was well over 35% of income and now sits about 15%. Sometimes affordability is taken out of ccontext. After all many people think nothing of spending monmobile mobile phone contact but complain about rising food prices. It is all about choice.
  21. Hi there The no potato bags generally have more expensive veg in them. Potatoes generally are cheaper and if not new potatoes then the farmers can store them when harvested. Maria
  22. If you fancy some local veg to go with your meat then try our new weekly local veg bag scheme, Local Greens. Local Greens is a not for profit weekly veg bag scheme set up by Herne Hill and Dulwich residents. We provide great tasting, seasonal veg from small organic or spray-free farms which are as near to SE London as possible. Our closest farm is less than 11 miles away. ? Planet friendly veg grown on farms that we work in partnership with ? Minimum packaging and transportation so we can pay the farmers a good price ? Collected by you locally (making it more environmentally friendly) - often on the day it was picked As simple and as sustainable as we can make it. www.localgreens.org.uk We offer a variety of weekly bags starting at ?7.50 per week Our prices truly reflect a fair price for our farmers and cover our costs. We use 100% recycled plastic bags rather than boxes so it's easier to carry. ?I am absolutely delighted with my mixed bag of vegetables each week and think it?s very good value for money. The vegetables are so fresh and taste amazing. I feel as though I have just picked them straight from the field!? East Dulwich customer
  23. I live a few doors down a d haven't received any info on this. Thanks for flagging this. I guess it does depend on how long the proposed refurb takes place. Scott who owns the bishop uses the forum so I am sure will soon comment on this?
  24. Re pruning figs. If an established tree you should prune in June time. At the moment just remove any small unformed fruit. Then tidy up again in spring.
