  1. Today it is Bring Your Own Baby Comedy - check out the EDT website for more info: Starts at midday, babies under 12 months welcome :) http://eastdulwichtavern.com/whats-on/
  2. fgrw Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This is the club that has childrens' training > sessions on tuesday evenings and saturday mornings > at Dulwich College Sports Club. Many thanks
  3. Starts today, with soft play and more this afternoon!
  4. http://eastdulwichtavern.com/whats-on/ East Dulwich Tavern on Lordship Lane SE22 Sounds like fun - see link above for listings of what's on.
  5. There are still a few spaces if anyone is interested...
  6. Hi, we had a campaign to sign the postcards and write to our local MP... I've been advised Heber and DVIS are planning a picnic protest tomorrow and Ivydale in Nunhead too :) Hope your foot is better soon!
  7. Hi, do you know of any events in relation to the campaign against school funding cuts locally? The national day of action is tomorrow from all I've read elsewhere, tho perhaps there's a thread on here I've missed? Thanks
  8. Hi, Does anyone know of any local events daytime or evening relating to the school funding cuts day of action? There's usually something organised by locals but for once I haven't spotted anything. This is re the #schoolsjustwannahavefunds campaign on Twitter and huge campaign against cuts to school funding. Thanks!
  9. They will also consider those in East Dulwich apparently :)
  10. Our neighbour used this nursery and loved it.
  11. Mehala I'd be very interested in a yoga course if it was a full day, as I work full time hours. I've done your baby yoga (2 years ago!) and loved it. Dulwich Hamlets have a great sporty holiday club that generally runs right through the holidays and has optional extras like cinema and bowling, also worth considering!
  12. I am a huge fan of James Barber (Lib Dem) but feel that in term of the General Election it is really a choice of the two main parties, Labour or Conservative. In case anyone wants to read more about the great work Helen Hayes Labour MP has done locally please click on this link: http://www.helenhayes.org.uk/issues Whoever tho vote, make sure you vote!

  14. Sharing as this sounds great! Sainsbury's are launching an initiative locally and those based in Camberwell, around Dog Kennel Hill estate and streets nearby welcome to participate - they need around 40 households to register... Will consider people in ED too. ZERO WASTE KITCHEN CHALLENGE What could you change with ?100? We?re all passionate about the food we eat, yet each year in the UK we throw away 15 million tonnes of food and drink. Nearly half of this is perfectly good to eat. This amounts to around ?60 per week per household. In 2016 Sainsbury?s launched Waste less Save more in order to help households to reduce their food waste and save on their food bills while meeting new people and learning new skills along the way. This year Sainsbury?s are looking for 40 Camberwell households to take part in The Zero Waste Kitchen Challenge to build upon last year?s work. Households would ideally live on the Dog Kennel Hill Estate or around Camberwell Grove, Bromar Road, Grove Hill Road, Malfort Road or Ivanhoe Road. Participating households will receive ?50 of Sainsbury?s vouchers and ?50 to spend on products that help reduce food waste. The Zero Waste Kitchen Challenge will run from May to July 2017. Participants will receive a food waste home consultation, invites to free cookery sessions and a Zero Waste Kitchen Handbook to assist in the selection of products. The products are designed to help with planning, storage and cooking. There will also be events and on-line support such as a Facebook group. Please email tessa@hubbub.org.uk with any questions and to register your interest.
  15. Nimble Arts at Heber is my son's favourite but they're also on at Alleyns, DK hill adventure playground, JAGS sports club and Dulwich College. www.nimblearts.co.uk Artastic (clubtastic is another I've used and I feel especially good for younger kids). Dulwich Hamlet also has a great and affordable sports club on during school holidays. I'd recommend that one - they have optional swimming, bowling and cinema too.
  16. Hi all, I found out Sainsbury's are supporting an initiative to combat food waste and there is now a Community fridge for any donations you might have :) https://wastelesssavemore.sainsburys.co.uk/ Great idea!
  17. I see mopeds up and down Barry Rd on occasion too, once one came off the Rye on to Barry Rd and nearly caused a crash. Crazy.
  18. Thanks, I've registered on the HMRC for more info once it's available... You're right, there's also something where (like a pension) you contribute money and the government adds a percentage to a max. ?2,000 p.a.
  19. Does anyone have any info on this, in terms of knowing which nurseries will offer 30 hours p/w free later this year? From what I've read, those which do opt in may end up out of pocket (for example, my son's nursery prepares hot meals, offers yoga and other activities as part of the fee, and there may be a shortfall between what the government will pay the nursery and what the usual fee would have been before the new rules apply). All confusing, as with anything related to childcare fees!
  20. We used Ine Twist for my son's birthday last weekend and she was amazing! She does magic shows too but we chose balloon modelling as hired JAGS sports centre (with bouncy castle and toys as part of the package) http://www.jagssportsclub.co.uk/childrens-parties/bouncy-castle-parties/. Ine was incredibly popular with everyone, from babies to 7 yr olds (mainly boys but also some girls) and I'd highly recommend. Compared to some she was reasonably priced too. She made everything, from a tractor to aliens and all sorts of balloon animals :) https://www.facebook.com/IneTwist
  21. I came across this and thought it might be useful (along with the reviews)... http://www.2.southwark.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/7985/camberwell_and_dulwich_nurseries Lists all local nurseries, Ofsted rating and fee structure.
  22. I love the 176, have found it useful for many years - from a singleton as a night route from "town" all the way home when slightly worse for wear, to present day when it is quite a nice journey to Waterloo or further if you want to avoid the train or go at a leisurely pace and read or whatever... I do agree it could do with updating, tho if it were "updating" to a 12 type I would worry if the air con is actually going to work (I see they have started adding some small windows to stop people collapsing from heat exhaustion if it goes over 15 degrees!). I do like the routemasters tho I have to say they look smart and 3 doors very handy! :)
  23. I find the sorting office very useful for collecting parcels, as I work FT and am in and out over the weekends doing family stuff as are lots of other people. When I went the other day I was surprised they didn't have a petition or notice about the closure, tho perhaps the workers aren't bothered or have just accepted the decision? Would assume very likely some will be made redundant as a result of the closure. I have posted back the questionnaire but can't make the meeting unfortunately (tho I fully support Helen - who seems to do very good work locally I might add)...
