My son (now 8) has been going to the Nimble Arts holiday club since he was 4 years old and absolutely loves it! They have a different theme daily, from magic to circus skills... Sometimes they?ll learn about history in a fun way, say with Medieval knights and a special visitor dressing up and coming in to do a short talk and maybe some role play and games in the same vein. Sometimes they?ve even had weird and wonderful creatures the children can learn about and have a hold if they?re brave enough!! They do Arts and crafts, games and have a bouncy castle. It is basically like a real life Blue Peter set and many of those running it are teachers or have direct childcare experience, so it?s very well organised and you can trust the carers completely. Not sure when there are spaces left for summer at Goodrich but check their website for availability www.nimblearts.co.uk They accept bank transfers and childcare vouchers which is also handy. They have children from age 4 yrs upwards. Cannot recommend more highly :)

Hi there - cost varies with age and type of setting. So a nursery is comparable with a childminder (tho some minders charge more if they have less children to make it viable in terms of income). Nannies are far more expensive, though you might find that a less expensive option? ?150 per day for 2 children is expensive. Nurseries would normally be around ?60 per day per child (rough guide) but as I say depends on the age and some nurseries charge more for less days etc.

Totally agree, zonked with the onset of winter (tho I read we have the sleep cycles of raccoons so should be asleep in the dark and only awake in daylight!). My friend recommended a Lumie clock so I might give that a whirl... I found cod liver oil and vit D (you can buy combined capsule from Lloyds very cheaply) supplements good for my memory and general concentration. Also drinking lots more water, a few early nights, hot baths and self TLC (not just TLC for the kids!) helpful. Oh and yoga and/or meditation (at home or ideally a class so you focus and don't get disturbed) amazingly helpful I have found... Lots of local classes. You've reminded me I downloaded the Headspace app but never used it haha :)

Thanks so much to everyone who recommended Oskar - I got his details from seeing his workers doing a great job building a wall around the corner from our house. We had our garden totally revamped - was paved with ugly borders, lots of straggly trees and bushes. Oskar and his team removed the paving and borders with soil, levelled it all, re-built an L-shaped border, erected fencing (to perfection!), decked it out and painted with protector. He is a rare find, someone who is reasonably priced, nice to deal with (from both my husband and my perspective). True professional and very very well organised. As someone above said he is a problem solver and makes suggestions which are useful. AMAZING JOB, we cannot recommend Oskar and his team highly enough.

Julian built us shelving in our living room and dining room alcoves. That was 4/5 years ago and they're as pristine as when built. Sturdy yet look beautiful. Would highly recommend.

FINAL15 15% off bookings for 14-18 August. Wonderfully creative holiday club, at Horniman Primary school SE23 (just walk through Horniman gardens of museum). My 7 yr old has been since he was 4 and absolutely loves it - they have themed days but also play sports like tennis each day. I cannot recommend highly enough. Half days available for 4-5 yr olds. www.nimblearts.co.uk

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
esme replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Various loose paving stones on North Cross Rd (never quite the same after a burst pipe a few years ago!), I'm sure there will be trip hazards as long as your arm if you go right up and down Lordship Lane too! On a more minor note, would be great if SMB could stop parking their van to load/unload on Saturdays as it is a pain for people trying to use the narrow pavement outside their shop, just before you get to St Christopher's uneven paving...
