Childcare for a toddler when in labour with number 2?
esme replied to Missjojo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Try ringing again, Paula is lovely, it's just her and one other so maybe she's away? I wdnt worry too much, we had same anxieties with number two but you can always take them to hospital worse case scenario or if during the day easier to sort Childcare. Lots of people do emergency Childcare if you do a general search on here a lot of childminders will do a day if you need them at short notice. Best of luck hope all goes well! -
Mine did this a few weeks ago for a few days, he was teething badly but it was definitely separation anxiety as when I was in the room he was fine but then woke the instant I left. Really tough, esp when you need that eve time to recover, cook dinner, relax... Hope your baby settles, I'd carry on with your routine and he should settle back with perseverance. Mine still wakes through the night so I'm definitely sympathetic!!

Great site. I was demoted when I returned to work the first time. Thankfully went on to a better job with a lovely supportive manager. I don't know any women who've returned to work without nah negative experiences.

I wanted as natural an experience with my first as possible but when it came to it the pain was nothing like I imagined. I wished then I'd put epidural on my birth plan instead of birth pool and gas and air! I'd say best to plan for it then change your mind if you wish, rather than the other way around as I was told I cdnt have an epidural (during the night) and given pethidine (apparently only pain relief they could give me) which was awful. I'd say its pot luck but generally the midwives at Kings are lovely.

My son hasn't done that one but the Dulwich Kids sports club at Dulwich Hamlets next to Sainsburys on Dog Kennel Hill SE22 is very well run (one of the PE teachers at a local school co-runs it). 30 March - 10 April My son loves it and it is VERY reasonable - you can pay daily or book in advance and save. They do a variety of sports and also offer trips swimming and to the cinema for a bit extra. My son loves it! http://www.dhfitc.org.uk/site/NonSecure/index.aspx

We had great fun today - 4 yr old loved helping the elves make toys, decorate gingerbread, got his face painted, met Santa and got a toy and we had photo taken... Baby loved sparkly wintry room upstairs where they did the face painting, they had a colourful ball (like a glitter ball) cdnt take his eyes off it :) Dulwich park, college gate entrance off Dulwich village Whippersnappers is not for profit organisation so great cause too. Tickets left for 23 and 24 dec, see East Dulwich mummy website home page for link

Do you use expensive or cheap face cream?
esme replied to LouieM's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I used to use cheap stuff but switched to aloe Vera one recently and it's lovely and light. Look at the AloeMrs website, I paid nearly ?30 but the jar lasted ages... -
There are lots of recommendations for childminders on here or you can look at the directgov website / ring FIS to get a list as 'minder' above says... I'd go for one close to home or close to your nearest station, in my experience childminders are great but you may need to visit a few to find the right one for you :)

We went to Whippersnappers today in Dulwich park, they still have tickets for Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th Dec... I'd recommend, good fun, nice small groups and lots of activities as 'cmacnew' says above. My 4 year old loved it and there were nice touches all the way through (face painting being one of them and free photo). Whippersnappers is a not for profit organisation too so happy to pay a bit more :)

[http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/tiny-diner] click the link to find out more and add your support / help spread the word! Looks like a great idea - similar to Little Dish food range but this will help Eaves, a domestic violence charity campaigning for women and girls... I'm quoting bits from the website now: Tiny Diner has been created by the registered charity Eaves. Inspired by the women and girls it supports, to generate income and create training and employment opportunities for women who have faced domestic abuse, sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Tiny Diner is a start-up with a social conscience, passionate about fresh, organic and delicious baby food! With a team of experienced volunteers including child nutritionists, a professional chef, and key industry figures in food and marketing, we have developed a brand and range that we all believe in. In doing so we have managed to attract the interest of high street retailers including Sainsbury's, WholeFoods and Planet Organic. If we succeed, with your help, in this campaign soon Tiny Diner will be in your neighbourhood! The Tiny Diner chilled, organic baby food range will provide babies, toddlers, and young children with the healthiest and most nutritious baby food possible. Tiny Diner draws on the trend for fresh, local ingredients incorporating seasonal produce wherever possible, with transparent labelling of nutrients to aid busy parents. The meals will be sold chilled and can be frozen by the consumer or the retailer. Tiny Diner Board members include the Chief Executive of Eaves, Senior Marketing Strategist at Google, CEO of Nando's Global Grocery, Head of Commercial Finance for Diageo, Partner at Hogan Lovells and Head of Marketing and PR at ClearlySo.

Trying to get 3 year old out of our bed - any tips
esme replied to Undiscovered's topic in The Family Room Discussion
bribery and making her room as appealing as possible - oh did I mention bribery?! :) good luck! -
I really wouldn't worry, the schools should also give out fruit and water and there are various savoury options usually. I think we all know a bit too much these days, after all we all ate similar things and survived! As long as they eat that is the main thing and we can control what they have for breakfast and dinner so...

all Vtech toys are great, we have an alphabet game thing where you can press the letters to say the letter / play music / play games... lots on the market, I would search on the Toys R Us website that is pretty good. We have a 4 yr old and he also likes the wipe clean books you can get - e.g. Topsy and Tim learn to write Foam letters that go in the bath are great too - about ?3 from Sainsbury's :)

For some reason I cannot post the link but if you go to the home page of the 'East Dulwich Mummy' website then scroll down from the Articles tab you will see an interesting / informative article on pelvic floor muscles Sarah Cross wrote for the NCT. Hope this is useful, I found it interesting!
