Many live in rose tinted world where they don't necessarily work long hours and rely on public transport to and from home in rush hour after school drop off (and vice versa for pick up in the evenings).

William Rose Butchers queue is getting ridiculously long again
esme replied to JRK's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I wonder if they could try a ticket system, whereby you collect a ticket then return when your number is up (which would allow for more shopping elsewhere and less time wasted). Perhaps someone could suggest it next time they are in there - or Moxons... or any of the other rammed shops on Lordship Lane come to that! :) -
Urgent: Help Reopen Closed Melbourne Grove and adjacent roads
esme replied to FairTgirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks for sharing. Signed and shared the petition. The only consultation I am aware of was done with those residents living on the streets themselves. The wider residential population I strongly believe do not support these roads being closed to vehicles. It pleases the few not the many and causes huge problems for public transport trying to use already congested main roads. It does not discourage drivers, that is the point I would try to get across to those who are able to cycle or walk everywhere and perhaps do not have to work to the same schedule as the rest of us. -
There has been a huge amount of fundraising for the Albrighton Community Centre, which I have tried to help myself as it is a great cause and helps many families and vulnerable individuals on the estate on Dog Kennel Hill... BUT it has come to my attention that there are many families and people generally in need on the Kingswood Estate in West Dulwich. They are collecting food and toiletries to help make people's Christmases less stressful and more enjoyable for those who may have lost jobs or are just generally struggling to make ends meet. To find out more and consider donating, please visit their website and get in touch: https://www.kingswoodestatetra.org/ Thanks for reading

Yes lovely shop.. Forest is also great for plants and gifts

Yes a real shame but we can all help by continuing to shop local, including at North Cross road market... South London club is worth signing up as you get discounts in Dulwich and surrounding areas https://shop.southlondonclub.co.uk/products/south-london-club-card Rye Books and other shops are doing online orders so also worth considering buying from them as opposed to Amazon for Christmas presents.

Really unhelpful talking about cheating accusations from years ago! Like the ONE knife incident from 2015 people still talk about. malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Charters may fib about catchment areas > > Kingsdale has been accused of cheating > > https://www.channel4.com/news/questions-over-londo > n-school-cheating-inquiry > > > Not sure about Haberdashers (it's a nice cycle to > Telegraph Hill) and you haven't mentioned Harris > East Dulwich > > Ps this is probably for the parents part of the > thread, a safe haven that I never visit.

East Dulwich Primary School recommendations
esme replied to MsWhite's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My sons are at St Anthony's near Dulwich library and both have had a very positive experience. I also have friends with kids at Heber and Goodrich and again have only heard good things. Harris on Lordship lane is also supposed to be excellent, very academic I believe so if you're not keen on lots of homework etc might not be for you. Goose Green has a good reputation, as do Bellenden (smaller school) and a few others. Essentially I think you'll be fine wherever your children end up, as we're very fortunate to have great primaries in East Dulwich. Good luck -
St Anthony's are keeping windows open.. most schools seem very well organised, great to see

Sorry to hear that! Mine just got stolen from INSIDE a bike locker nr ED station... so annoying. I guess could be worse, at least no physical harm. Hope you can claim back on insurance? I'm going to try but not sure covered (padlock was put back in place, all very strange, think they must have had a key but the company swore they replaced the lock). Just to say that my new bike was stolen from INSIDE a bike locker near East Dulwich station in the last week or so. The lock was secure when I went to get it out, so who knows how it was broken into. The padlock was provided by the company who owns the lockers and they are adamant I left it unlocked (tho how would a thief then manage to lock it up without a key??). Anyway just a warning to be extra vigilant, I know bike theft is an easy / quick win for those struggling right now, but upsetting as it was brand new and I have a bad back so was hoping to do more cycling. It was a dark red Apollo Twilight (ladies medium) in case anyone spots it around or for sale!! Could have been worse, stay safe everyone!

The padlock was provided by the company who owns the lockers and they are adamant I left it unlocked (tho how would a thief then manage to lock it up without a key??). They advised they did not change the lock or key between renters. They then contradicted that and said they had evicted previous renter and put a brand new lock on the locker. Makes no sense as how would the padlock be locked up again without a key even if I had left it open.
