Maternity at Kings and St Thomas
hypnobirthingplace replied to Calvert's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have to say I hear brilliant things about both Kings and St Thomas from the couples I teach. I had a fantastic experience with the Kings homebirth team and equally, I regularly hear about how good the care on labour ward is and how lovely the birth centre is. St Thomas is also brilliant according to those I've taught, though my only experience of it is having a cervical stitch put in during my pregnancy (the support I received was beyond first class) and I was incredibly impressed with the consultant midwife Julie who spoke at a conference I attended recently - she spoke at length about the importance of treating each woman as an individual and listening/having informed discussions about care options. I think we're so lucky to have such amazing care close by! Zoe x -
Parenthood and birth info
hypnobirthingplace replied to hypnobirthingplace's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Wonderful, thanks so much! x -
Hi there, I'm interested in the books you've found most useful on parenthood and birth (if any!) and what sources of local information you've found helpful for things to do with your baby. I'll be passing on anything new I discover to the couples I teach and will compile into a blog which I can share here in case it's useful for others. Many thanks and warmest wishes, Zoe

There's some really brilliant advice on here. I had a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) at home and would be happy to talk about how/why/what to expect if that would be helpful for anyone in a similar position (you can PM me). The Brierley team were utterly fantastic - it could not have been smoother and I felt I was in very safe hands. We are lucky to be so well served by the NHS in this area!
