Have ordered new Sim. virgin apologised for the 'misunderstanding' yesterday. BTW teenage daughter is swearing never to return to the carnival. She has been going for the last 5 years and hasn't had any problems but certainly wasn't the only one of her friends to run into trouble.

Thanks for info. Yes Virgin Mobile can be very frustrating. I'm going to call back this morning and talk to someone else about it.

Have just had very frustrating three quarters on hold and finally speaking to Virgin Mobile who told me that if they unblock your number to order a new sim card then the thieves will be able to use the stolen phone. Can this be true? My daughter was attacked at Notting Hill Carnival at the weekend and had her belongings stolen. This just sounds like an extra headache. Any experience of this?

Down here in Penge there will be a whistle blowing at the War Memorial on the High Street at 7.30 a.m on the 1st of July to commemorate 100 years since 'going over the top'. Are there any similar events in East Dulwich? My parents live in ED and are would be very keen to join in something like that but they are not on social media or The Forum so aren't in the loop. Please could you let me know so I can pass the info on? Thanks

Good luck. What kind of CCTV do you have? Very impressive! -
ED parents do come to Tutti-frutti 0-5 music class starting at Belair House on 19th and 20th Jan. 45 minutes of music making, movement and percussion followed by cups of tea and fruit for the little ones. Fun and relaxed. All ages welcome. First class ?5.00, siblings ?1.00. So you get the gist, here is a review of another class I do which is very similar:- 'Lucy's music classes are joyful and fun yet always feel beautifully calm and the children respond so positively to the relaxed atmosphere and the serene and responsive way in which Lucy leads them. We have tried other music classes, which have tended to be rather loud and overstimulating, or too rigidly structured, whereas Lucy is very good at responding to the children and keeping things calm and relaxed'

Hi I am starting a music class in Dulwich for babies and toddlers which is 40/45 minutes of music, followed by tea and fruit. I already teach this class more centrally and find it is a really lovely way to meet other mums and socialise a bit at the end of the class. This week I had two six week old babies in my class along with all the others including 4 year olds. It is very relaxing and fun. Do join us when you are ready! The first class is on the 19th of January at Belair House. First class ?5.

wow loads of info. Sugar Mountain didn't have them fyi but the lady in there was absolutely lovely and gave me the number of someone who could make me one if none showed up! Apparently there is a shortage and the prices are silly. I'll take the kids there as a treat now that I know where it is. Will pop down to Lordship lane tomorrow.

Thanks will check them out. I've never been!

Hi Now that we don't have Hope and Greenwood does anyone know where I can buy sugar mice? My 6 year old has put them on her letter to Father Christmas and I can't seem to find them anywhere. Any ideas?

I remember going to a few lovely Thursday morning sessions a few years back when a group of mums would meet up with their pre schoolers/home schooled children who would then have great fun in the woods rooting around and getting mucky. Is this group still running? I would love details for a friend of mine as my kids are all at school. Thanks

Well it isn't in East Dulwich, but it has been set up by an East Dulwich emigre (me) and Penge is only down the road and on the 176! Peckham's finest Electric Pedals and Friends of Penge Green are putting on a free screening of Ghostbusters at 6.30 in Penge Recreation Ground, off Penge High Street SE20 8HU. Local gourmet burgers, pumpkin soup, fancy dress, pedal powered music from 5.30. Hope to see some of you there.

Glad to see there's some interest (Lizzichu) in Penge Rec. PM me once you are settled and I'll count you in. Good luck with it all!

Welcome Newcomers! I moved here from ED nearly 4 years ago. I'm still regularly back there but now only have one child left at school in ED as the others are all at local schools here. It really isn't very far away at least not in distance... The best forums are Virtual Norwood and Crystal Palace life which both have threads on Penge. http://www.virtualnorwood.com/forum/forum/1-news-and-local-issues/ http://www.crystalpalacelife.com/index.php/kunena/index (the local chat one has a specific Penge section) If you are wanting to be involved in something local, I'm about to start up a Friends of Penge Rec group with the help of Penge Parks. It is a great space just off the high street used by lots of children but could do with a little TLC. My first mission is to rename it. Penge Rec hardly sounds enticing even on a sunny day! Penge Greene seemed to go down well at the Penge Parks meeting on Monday so it should be possible. Penge needs a few more brave traders. It was great that the Blue Mountain Caf? opened up, and hopefully more businesses will follow. Although the High Street is really useful there are quite a few empty units, and Maple Road is crying out for some independent shops. There is loads of potential here.
