  3. Ouch.
  4. I am already double booked for tomorrow night (very rare to be booked once, never mind twice/thrice) If I turn up drunk at 10.30 will there still be someone there?

  6. My brother was visiting east dulwich last year and I sent him down to WR to buy the goodies for the Saturday morning fry up (i'm good like that). He said the chap in front of him in the queue asked for a free range chicken and the butcher picked one up and was about to bag it saying "that one's ?17 sir" - the chap very calmly responded saying - "Actally I think I'll have a less grand chicken".

Surely the good guy and the bad guy are God and the Devil. Its interesting to think how the idea of God arose in the first place? If we believe in Darwin etc then we were once slime, then some time later monkeys and after that humans. Early humans (being recently monkeys) had little or no rules perhaps and as we developed the early humans probably lived by a "law of the jungle" mentality, before some decent (probably older chap) decided thunder meant someone was not happy - we should be scared of that someone - and behave better in future. I suggest if there had been no thunder there may not ever have been the concept of god. This is just part of the thought process I used to go through at Mass on a Sunday morning, before I concluded there was no God and jacked the whole thing in and made the golf course my church. Life's full of big chouices and that was my best so far.
  8. Who is Well - I don't know him. Anyway - its a two legger so prob just making it exciting for the neutral.
  9. No regrets BBW, they would pounce on your weakness - stay tough B)
  10. Oh yes Folsom prison - I like that - That might be where we will all have to go to visit Bigbadwolf if we keep advertising his cafuffle. We can then start a "free the Bigbadwolf" campaign.
  11. Cypriot turk - I feel you have been harshly treated as it seems this is your first post/thread? if the intention is to meet other nurses then you might be better starting a new thread asking a direct question along those lines. Good luck with it.
  12. lozzyloz - I can confirm Father Chrtistmas does exist - I saw him only recently at Goodrich school santas grotto - although my 6 year old told me it was Mr Smith. I refused to believe that. There was no sign of God.
  13. When I was younger I used to think there were never enough nurses...in dulwich or anywhere else.
  14. When these kids play their music real loud on the top deck of the bus I'm tempted to blast them away with a bit of Johnny Cash. Would that do it?
  15. I think its a fantastic campaign. I'm all for publising that your not odd to think there's no god. What I don't understand is that so many people seem to have no interest in religion whatsoever (eg don't go to church except weddings and funerals) and yet if you ask them if they belive in god they tend to say yes. If I believed in god (and I don't) I'd be at mass/church every week, frightened out of my wits that if I did not pray enough I might end up in hell/purgatory, some other hot or horrible place. But then maybe these people were not taught by nuns and have a more rational outlook on what might happen when one dies.
  16. EdOldie - that is very interesting and shows that info on UK or even London prices is not really specific enough to predict what will happen to ED property. I think the 1990 property crash took an extraordinarily long time to come back - I think this one will bounce back quicker. I would be interested in buying into property (ie a bigger family home) at the moment if the lending that was available was as good as my existing mortgage but unfortunatley it is not. I'm not sure the SE21 will fare so well this time, prices are obviously coming down in key SE21 roads, although these could bouce back first, and perhaps in 1995 they had already started to bounce back, whereas the other postcodes had not. I for one am happy to have my home in SE22 and think its prospects are good.

Yes - I agree the Herne food is fantastic and has been for some time, regular menu changes too. However it is ideal for families as the garden is a play area, so if you are not keen on kids in pubs then maybe not for you, but if like me you have young children tis ideal, they can play safely while you finish your food/beer.
  18. Yes - my apologies - just a little joke.
  19. I've lived in ED for eight years and have never been into the Ralon stationers - does not everyone get their stationery for work??? I'm not sure we need anything else on the lane, maybe another fried chicken shop, I went into one of those on New Years Day and gosh it hit the spot, grease everywhere, very nice, first time i've been in that one in eight years too but now I have got the taste for it I intend making regular trips, although I did find myself going in there hoping noone would recognise me, as if it was a guilty pleasure. Anyway I guess the space is too small for M&S, so what about an Agent selling Estate Agents shops, that would be ironic.
  20. Maybe William Rose are upping the anti and trying to smoke her out - those organic types don't take no for an answer. I wonder whether a bigger William Rose would mean more meat/more queues or less queues/less waiting around outside but more waiting around inside instead. Would it mean more room inside and the more people that can fit inside the more people that can call themselves regulars, which is handy come christmas. Everyone wins, bar the old lady.
  21. Yes, lets hope we all know how to calculate 15%.
  22. Goodrich - you think you're are so great - but I bet you don't have as much dog poo as Friern??? Stop bigging yourself up, Friern is the undisputed dog poo capital of ED, its everywhere, rotton stuff from invisible dogs that come in the night.

I > have been quite nosy and looked up several friends > and colleagues' house and flat prices. > http://www.zoopla.co.uk/ I tried this "Zoopla" and I the initial value attributed to my home was significantly lower than I would expect. In fact it was not much higher than I paid in 2006. However if you "refine the estimate" (add number of bedrooms, condition etc) the value can rise and in my case was then 15% higher than the first estimate, so I think the inital value the website gives is a low estimate, your friends houses, are hopefully worth quite a bit more than the website shows assuming they are in good condition etc. But nevertheless its worth a look. Incidentally, I was looking at rightmove recently and a 5 bed in Shepherds Bush seems to be worth twice as much as the equivalent property in ED (not a scientific search) - I found that strange given that when I have been to Shapherds Bush it seemed fairly ordinary. I think ED will pick up a lot the next time we are in an era of rising property prices - and even if it does not I have pretty much settled here for the forseaable future as ED seems to have all I need and it seems to be continuing to improve and attract more young professionals. [although with young children the schools do leave room for improvement and despite some posts implying that it not important it remains a key reason why some parents leave the area - unfortunatley - and its not a middle class ideal to want the best schools for your kids, as has also been mooted, but in fact all parents, regardless of class or background should feel that their childrens education is important]
