  1. Setanta have just said that Everton playmaker Arteta is injured and will miss todays tie - should give Liverpool the midfield edge (if they did not have it already). Hope Liverpool win, think their fans need a lift....
  2. Agreed HB - if anyone refers to me as a Mick I can get v angry.
  3. "Don't be scared" I won't hurt you....Of Mice and Men springs to mind, Lennie Small, a large and kind but mentally retarded man pursues local beauty, she struggles to get away and he holds her tighter, the end (for her) Woman should always run from a nut job. "The best-laid plans of mice and men/often go awry" (Robert Burns, 2009 less 250 = quickly grabs calculator = b.25 Jan 1759)
  4. :) Very good Sean. Not sure his son Jaysus was that confident either and towards the end of his life became rather paranoid (too much Canan wine perhaps) and was suspicious of some of his friends, with good reason as it turned out.
  5. Is that the chap who managed Munster to their victory over All blacks? Was that Tom Kiernan? Read a book about that once, but my memory is v poor.

Sandperson - I think the clue is in the "Good Day" bit of my post. Although I have a financial interest in MU this year, so as far as south of the border goes, I'm with you this season. Can't quite believe Bill Hill gave me 10/3 on MU in mid November.
  7. Well done Declan - for those who do not know, Tommy Gemmell scored for Celtic in 2 European Cup Finals, in 1967 v Inter Milan (won 2-1) and against Feyenoord 1970 (lost 2-1). I'm afraid I have not got a clue on your question...I'll guess Michael Gibson
  8. kenny's a good guy, but he wasn't a virgin when he came to liverpool, he had been somewhere bigger and better... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4K9schV5wug
  9. Prompted by the political question by Steve T, here is my sporting version: A sporting question is asked, and the person getting the answer must then ask the next question: The only rule is "no peeking on wikipedia" Here is my starter for ten: Who was the first British footballer to score in 2 different european cup/champions league finals:
  10. I feel the clue may be in the "100 years" something that happened between 1900-1920???
  11. > Annasfield Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Damon Hill > > Kenny Dalglish > > Robbie Fowler > > Martin Johnson > > Steven Gerrard > > > Would like to add that my top 5 are those who I > remember. Annasfield - a distinct Liverpool feel to you top 5. If you remembered Kenny Dalglish (who's best years were ate celtic park?) surely you remember the person he was signed to replace: King Kevin Keegan, twice european player of the year, surely better than dalglish?
  12. Declan Wrote: > the Creator.....if there is one............for > placing us on a beautiful planet and still allow > us to enjoy other people earning much more money > than we do for kicking, catching and hitting balls > of various shapes and not think twice about it! Declan - What a great line. I think you summed up sport - if there is a ball involved its enjoyable to watch - Ball sports are king.
  13. Yes Will Dex - thats him! Why do you have a photo of him?
  14. i know many people avoid Sainsbury - but my wife has boiught me a "Simon Howie Haggis Company" haggis from there today ?1.99. That will do me fine.
  15. Probably not what you are looking for but Winston Churchill had the chance to create a United Ireland when as Foreign Secretary in 1920 he had the chance to concede Ireland to the Irish, but instead created a separate state of Northern Ireland and the rest is history.
  16. Celtic move ahead again as Rangers slip up. Good day.
  17. My Irish Top 5: George Best - the best footballer the English league has ever seen Padraig Harrington - first european winner of the US PGA since 1930s Alex Higgins - the original entertainer Willie John McBride - the captain of the most successful Lions team ever in South Africa 1974 Roy Keane - the best midfielder the premiership has seen
  18. You can't argue with Princess Anne. She should be in everyones top 5.

Absolutely MM - well put - There is no great reason why we are here - we just developed from single cells and became so intelligent we are convinced we are here for a reason, but noone will ever know.
  21. I'm standing by my earlier statement: its a girls pub, or a pub for blokes visiting with girls. When I am out with my wife I spend a lot less than when I am out with my mates, so I think unless Magnolia can attract the guys on thurs thru Saturday, they won't make as much money as they otherwise would. I have been there on a Saturday night for a few drinks with my wife and I'd say it was a relaxing, but not exciting environment, very quiet lots of girls quietly drinking, and from a business perspective, not spending much money as far as I can see. I think the old Magdela would make in one 6 nations afternoon what the new mag makes in a week. Unfortunatley. Nevertheless I'm glad lots of people like it as its obviously not as bad/quiet as it seems to me.
  22. Why can't Americans play their sports when we are not in bed and play in two "halfs" the way sports are supposed to be played. I don't know why they play in the middle of the night - never understood that.
  23. YES SALSIE - I have had the same experience - this guy makes you hand over your annual travel pass. Then he makes you hand over your photo card. He is a complete jobsworth. One evening he was so arrogant, I just called him a wanker and got off and waited for the next bus - he seems to like this though - I think he likes to wind people up. Personally I don't like to be called back from the end of the bus for him to check my ticket again and don't like him giving the appearance that I'm fare dodging. I really can't stand the guy.
  24. You see, estate agents are not all bad. Oliver from Winkworth seesm to be a local celebrity - my wife and the other mums seems to like him, a lot. Winkworth are a good crowd.
  25. I think its principally a pub for girls/ladies to have a chat and some food. I'm not sure there is sufficient demand for this for the pub to survive. Everyone seems to say its lovely but also tend to say there were very few people in it. I hope it survives but I preferred the old pub, sorry.
