Happy to recommend FuseWise; called them out a few weeks ago when there was a problem with a circuit tripping in the kitchen. They responded quickly, turned up at the agreed time and charges were reasonable and as advertised. It was a tricky problem to find and repair, but Omari was very thorough and explained the issue clearly.

It’s not in SE15/SE22, but there’s one in St. John’s Churchyard, SE1 (small park just off Tower Bridge Road). The 42 and 78 buses stop just outside at Druid Street.

Take a look at this Ofgem link: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/check-energy-back-billing-rules. I’m no lawyer, but it sounds as if you might be covered by the back-billing rules and there’s a template letter from Citizens Advice which you could adapt to your situation. Worth a try.

Are there specific agencies that cover paid covid marshall/admin roles?
shebe replied to beansprout's topic in The Lounge
Guy?s Hospital has recently put out a call for paid volunteers to assist with the vaccine programme over the next few weeks. Roles are for admin, marshalling and unregistered vaccinators (training provided). Details and contact email address here: https://www.teamlondonbridge.co.uk/noticeboard/2021/12/16/volunteers-at-guys-urgently-needed -
To the anti-vaxxer who keeps littering the covid page
shebe replied to fishbiscuits's topic in The Lounge
The post referred to has been reported and removed from the Covid page. Would suggest not starting this up again here, as it might give them another route back in. -
Professional film and TV production is work which cannot be carried out from home and is permitted under current regulations. Here?s the detail: https://filmlondon.org.uk/covid-19-updates-and-guidance Production companies filming on location follow strict codes of practice and draw up stringent risk assessments covering specific Covid-19 safety measures for each project/location, including testing for cast and crew as appropriate.

I?ve collected mail from Highshore Road twice in the last couple of weeks; today?s included 3 Christmas cards posted 1st class in mid-December and a non-essential financial item. No subscription magazines or other expected items. Prioritising tracked mail, parcels, etc. over letter post is a questionable strategy, as banks, HMRC, hospitals, GP surgeries, etc. tend not to send these! Apparently Covid vaccination invitations are being sent out by letter, which will be of concern to anyone in the groups due to receive these in the next few weeks. The counter staff are polite and helpful, but obviously fed up with hearing the same complaints days after day. I was told last week that there would be no delivery ?any time soon? and to keep coming to the sorting office. This is clearly not possible for everyone (especially with buses not serving Rye Lane) and potentially risky at present. I was also told today that management is putting a plan in place to resolve the problem, but I?m slightly sceptical....

See letter from Helen Hayes and other local MPs to the CEO of Ofcom about the problems:

Just a heads up that City of London police have posted a gallery of recovered stolen bikes that they want to reunite with their owners in the City and surrounding boroughs. Worth a look if your bike?s been stolen. https://www.cityoflondon.police.uk/news/city-of-london/news/2020/november/press-releases/Recovered-bicycles-image-gallery/

I?m very happy to add my recommendation for Paul and his team. Paul came round to quote for removal of an old garden shed and returned later the same morning to carry out the work. The team was fast and efficient and took care not to damage paintwork or leave any mess when carrying the wood through the house. Excellent service.

Rye lane walk & cycle only from 6/7
shebe replied to rollflick's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There have been roadworks/temporary lights at Consort Road/Clayton Road, which have been causing delays/tailbacks through the diversion. It wasn?t clear what these were for and no-one working on Wednesday when I went through. Seems very ill-timed when Rye Lane has been closed to traffic, especially buses. -
Well said, matttee. It was a very long, well-chaired meeting with all sides treated fairly and thoroughly scrutinised. It was/is all on YouTube, so of course the votes are publicly available, as are the entire proceedings. Whether people agree with the decision or not, there?s no way this was ?rubber-stamped? by tonight?s Planning Committee. IMHO it was the right decision (no, I have no connections with anyone involved). Congratulations to all at DHFC, who?ve been tireless in achieving this, not to mention exercising patience and restraint in the face of some of the more fact-light accusations they?ve had to deal with on the way.

Children's playgrounds (now closed)
shebe replied to Nandalf the Grey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Southwark is now closing all lockable areas (including playgrounds) in their parks from tonight. See post in the new Covid-19 section of the forum: /forum/read.php?32,2105775 -
If you're travelling tomorrow, remember that it's car-free day, so Tower Bridge and loads of roads north and south of the river and in the City will be closed from c.7a.m. I'd go east via Blackheath to the Blackwell Tunnel then north to the M11, but allow lots of time as there's bound to be a knock-on effect from the closures!

Another recommendation for Steve; he arrived earlier than booked and replaced the oven element within 20 minutes, at a very reasonable price. I wouldn't even think of calling anyone else about a broken oven or washing machine!

Decided to be sensible and deal with some minor slate roof repairs a few weeks ago while the sun was shining. Got a couple of quotes and Norwood Roofing were able to do the work efficiently the next day, at a decent price and without scaffolding. Highly recommended.

If it's just a takeaway which isn't selling alcohol or providing entertainment, they probably don't have/need a premises licence, unless they're serving hot food between 11pm and 5am, which would be licensable as 'late night refreshment'. They might be registered as a food business with the Council, but I don't know how you'd check this - Environmental Health, maybe? The friendly chat is probably the way to go in the first instance!

I think it used to be called Crazy George's.

If someone owes you money, you can take them to court. (It used to be called the Small Claims Court). The application is usually made online; it's quite simple, inexpensive and doesn't generally need a lawyer. You could also speak to Citizens Advice first. Details of the court procedure here: https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money

Vastly inflated commercial event in P Rye Park
shebe replied to Lee Scoresby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sitting in the garden enjoying a vastly inflated glass of Prosecco and catching up on the papers. Soundtrack of planes, distant sirens, children playing a few doors down, grass being cut, shrubs being pruned, people enjoying a drink outside the pub, diy going on somewhere, birdsong and music from the Rye. Even with all its issues, London in the summer is a wonderful, tolerant place for everyone to enjoy in so many ways. And that's not the Prosecco talking! -
it's unlikely that Brexit will affect the implementation of the GDPR in the UK. The principles are that individuals will have more rights than under the existing legislation re. the collection, use, access to and and deletion of their personal data; organisations therefore have greater responsibility for ensuring that personal data is collected, used, processed, stored and deleted properly, and that it's clear to their customers/users/clients how their information is handled. They also need to be able to demonstrate that proper policies and procedures for data handling are in place and followed. There are lots of scare stories, myths and dubious advice 'out there' - definitive information for both individuals and organisations working in different sectors is available via the ICO website and Twitter account. https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/ @ICOnews (I'm not connected with the ICO, but have had to deal with this for work. Dull but essential - and generally A Good Thing, IMHO).

where to get ready made photo/picture frames with glass (other than Ikea)
shebe replied to Minitoots's topic in The Lounge
Wilko had a decent selection of frames last week. (I happened to be in Woolwich, but there are branches in Penge and Bromley). Or Snappy Snaps. -
Make sure that the process is being handled properly by your employer and that you know your rights - it will put you in a better position if anything is negotiable. If you're a trade union member, get advice from the union asap. If not, ACAS offers excellent free information/advice and an employee helpline. http://www.acas.org.uk/?articleid=1611

Greenwich Theatre is currently showing three LAMDA final year productions (until Tuesday 15th). Talented young actors, an interesting mix of plays (take your pick from Tennessee Williams, Martin Crimp or Stella Feehily via George Farquhar) and very reasonable ticket prices - what's not to like? www.greenwichtheatre.org.uk

It's definitely free! 'Unofficial site' = scam.
