Congratulations Dom! Firstly, what the others said! Secondly, try not to buy everything new. Have a look on here, there are loads of lightly used things. Our 10 month old's current favourite is his ?3 set of stackable boxes. The Bumbo seat was ?5, used for a few weeks, then passed on. Thirdly, I've just finished 3 months Shared Parental Leave, first month overlapping with my wife, then two with the baby. Can't recommend it highly enough if you're able to do that. Fourthly, before the baby arrives, think about what's important to you, or that you enjoy. Try to work out how you will be able to continue doing that (after the first phase, obviously!). I missed jogging a lot & life improved greatly when I started managing to get out. Easy to forget to look after yourself! Also agree about the food. In the lead up to our son arriving we batch cooked & froze loads, so for the first couple of weeks we could still eat healthy food without having to cook.

Our son has just discovered stairs & we're debating what stair gate to get. The bottom two steps are past the post, so we're not sure if we need one that would go round all the steps, but take up more hallspace, or just across where the post is. I've tried to attach a photo to help make sense. Ideally we wouldn't need to drill etc. Thanks! Rob

My dad is doing ride London next Sunday, staying at ours beforehand. The website points to TFL, but I wondered if anyone here had a suggestion/recommendation for a way to get there (and back!) My dad wasn't keen on my suggestion of a gentle warm up ride...

Thanks both! I hadn't thought of going that way. Peckham rye will definitely be easier!

Hi All. My brother has suggested a daytrip to Leeds castle & we're just thinking about easiest routes to get there. It looks like driving is fastest, but we'd have to hire a second car & sort child seats, which seems a bit of an effort. As far as I can see, you can get a train from Bromley South, but being near the Camberwell old cemetery, we'd probably need to go P13 to West Dulwich, then train to Bromley South. Is there an easier way to get there? We'll be 5 adults & 3 children from 6 months to 8 years. Thanks Rob

Hi all. We've got a 6 month old & have managed one holiday at a very baby friendly place in Lanzarote, changing table, cot, high chair all in the room, baby pools & the like. We're starting to think about our next break & wondering if anyone has any recommendations for where to go & where to stay? Ideally somewhere baby friendly, but also some interesting things for us to enjoy! Thanks Rob.

Hi All. I'm sure this has been discussed previously, but I couldn't find anything obvious in the search. My brother is coming to visit & will need to be picked up from the airport. He has a 2 & 8 year old. I rang Forest Hill Cars & they say they don't supply car seats. Has anyone used a good minicab service that will provide car seats? I found http://www.foresthillminicabs.co.uk/ on the internet. (We're in Forest Hill) Thanks! Rob

If you're "over the border" in SE23 like we are, there were no collections yesterday https://se23.life/t/no-waste-collection-today-due-to-weather-conditions/8321

I see the Beast from the East has even taken out Southeastern's website Apparently yesterday's London Bridge points issue was down to a plastic bottle -
(not sure if I've missed another thread, but) I see they're installing yellow gates across the car park at the Grove, in place of the concrete blocks. Does anyone know if this is just an attempt to "maintain the site properly", or are they actually going to do some work on the place?

Hi All. I'd appreciate some suggestions for a present for my wife. I usually get some small bit of jewellery & take her for a nice dinner, but this year we're expecting our first child, who'll probably make their appearance a few days before my wife's birthday. I'd like her to still feel that she matters & is still the amazing, beautiful woman she is, & am conscious the baby is going to attract the most excitement. I had thought about a massage/spa voucher, but any thoughts what might make her feel special, while factoring in the newborn! Thanks R.

I've used: http://www.hygiene4less.co.uk/product/coffee-machine-cleaning-tablets/ to clean tea tannins before, by far the most effective. Don't know how effective it would be if the stain isn't tea. I dissolved in hot water, it foams a little like bi-carb (these are sodium percarbonate)

Serious delays Walworth road/denmark hill

Saw a matrix sign saying something about a gas leak, guess that's the problem -
I saw some film trucks parked at the cricket club parking opposite the Grove Tavern this morning. Does anyone know what they're filming?

Slightly off topic, but the title of the post reminded me that last year Thames Water sent me an email saying a bill was ready, I happened to click through to check it. The bill was for ?27900. Did make me wonder how many people are being charged significantly more than they should be without really knowing.

They're original CDs, my attempts to make it as a pop star haven't made it out of the shower (yet!) I might start working through the boxes & flogging the ones I don't listen to anymore. I guess I can delete the music from the cloud, & that would meet the licencing requirements.
-
I guess I could argue that there are a fair number I bought in the early nineties I'm probably not going to listen to anymore, and keep the ones I might so won't infringe the licensing. We used Sky movies a few times & you could buy a DVD to stream immediately, but they then posted you the DVD of the film you'd already watched to satisfy the licencing (I assume)

Van Bookings at the Reuse and Recyling Centre
Rob tolfts replied to fredatkinson's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If you're using a ZipVan that's usually a specific vehicle, so you can get the number plate when booking the van.
