  1. Taking part in the quiz at the Clock House last night I was amused to see the winners were aptly (and I can only assume truthfully in the absence of any evidence to doubt their claim) 'I sh*! on a Foxtons Mini'. Could this catch on as a sport? Don't try this at home etc....
  2. No experience of actually dipping toe in water, but there's a pool on East Dulwich Grove (off the roundabout by Goose Green), and one up at Forest Hill a bit past station on Dartmouth road I think. Or Brockwell Park Lido if you're not averse to outdoor swimming (though not sure how all year it is...).
  3. Interestingly the BBC is owned by the same people (Clapham House Group) as own GBK - obviously a group who are liking the ED vibe....
  4. ?260 - that's outrageous nutty. I've been lucky and never caught, but always assumed that it was about ?80 to retrieve the offending vehicle....
  5. I had them round about 3 weeks ago - when I said politely no, having listened for a minute or two, I got a sob story about what a terrible day he'd had, and I was going to make it worse. He wasn't easy to shift. If this is a genuine cause I'm with Spooniferous - the goods have to be reasonably priced. With a seven quid cloth they're asking a quid for a cloth and a six quid donation - which is quite a big donation for any charity you randomly encounter, as opposed to one you have decided to support regularly.
  6. Living nearby I went a few years back for lunch expecting a good cheap meal. Think we ended up sharing a sharing plate as it was so pricy for the mains.
  7. As a former Overhill Rd resident, just downhill from Dawsons, I can vouch that's one heck of a view. There's a guy on Northcross Rd market who sells some great prints of it - he takes the photos from the top of the building.
  8. I've suffered the heating on in summer thing too - on the few occasions I've complained I've been told they can only adjust it at the depot - quite why I've never understood - it can hardly need computer programming? I can just see the depot engineers face on a hot morning - chuckle chuckle - full heat today for those passengers methinks....
  9. How about making bus stops further apart - eg riding a 176 or a 185 down Dog Kennel Hill into East Dulwich, there is a stop at the top of the hill, one halfway down opposite Sainsburys, and one at the bottom by the station - all within sight of each other. Surely better to have to walk a few mins to get to a stop than have your bus once you're on it stopping before it even gets up to speed - that's why bus journeys take forever...
  10. I'm having a few problems with buildings insurance due to some subsidence over the years on a property we've recently bought (property is basically in great shape but a bit old, so has the odd crack and a few floors out of line - no problem getting mortgage on it). Does anyone know anything about the obligation of previous insurer to take on a property which has had some 'structural movement'?
  11. Aren't they called White Stuff because they were set up to make ski / snowboard clothing? Hence White stuff being fresh snow, rather than a Big Brotheresque racism row provoker...?
  12. We popped along - it was very nice and surprisingly big I thought. But boy was there some traffic chaos on College Road - we got jammed up for 20 mins between the South Circular and the College Road gate because every P4 that was on the roads was trying to get down what had become a single track road due to parking on both sides, and no-one could move at all! Made me all the more curious about the fair, which obviously had drawn a big crowd.
  13. I heard that they've had a lot of problems with bus drivers not liking being tracked - especially at night when they like to stop off in dark corners and play cards with their mates (hope I'm not libelling anyone here....) - so they've been disabling whatever transmitter devices were used.
  14. In my view most of Underhill Road suffers from bad junctions - there are far too many roads to cross - they've put in a new roundabout at one of either Friern / Upland which has helped, but the other is still really difficult, especially driving uphill...
  15. Anyone else seen the family of baby foxes (about 4 - look like little kittens with white bit on their tales) which just spent the evening frolicking at the bottom of our garden on Overhill Rd?
  16. Stabbed on Croxted Road I read, though they quoted it as being Tulse Hill
