  4. Hi everyone, I have Type 1 Diabetes (bore) and I've just signed up to Swim 22 (2017) to swim 22 miles for the fantastic charity - Diabetes UK. The challenge takes place in February - May 2017 and I will be swimming 1408 lengths in Dulwich Leisure Centre. I'm pretty unfit so this will be major for a fatty batty like me! I'm pretty passionate about this and wanted to share my story with East Dulwich! I also run audio projects for children (and ocassionally adults) as my day job http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/and I've been talking to the charity about potentially creating audio diaries with people taking part in the challenge to hopefully appear on their website/social media so if you know anyone taking part or you have a story and would like me to record it, please do get in touch! If you would like to donate to this awesome charity, my page is here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Zoe-Byatt?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=fundraisingpage&utm_content=Zoe-Byatt&utm_campaign=pfp-share Thank you so much to anyone reading this!! I currently cannot walk at the moment with an injury BUT I will be getting in the pool as soon as poss to get training! Zoe
  5. Hi everyone, I'm creating a Diabetes Podcast (I have Type 1 Diabetes) and I'm looking for people with Diabetes - T1 or 2, who I can interview for my podcast about everyday things - I want to talk to you! Each episode will be a different theme / person interviewed so I may just ask you about a specific aspect of your life or it may just be pretty random to be honest & you can choose what we talk about. My day job is working with children on audio, podcast & radio projects: http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ so you can get an idea of some of the projects I work on, but my podcast will be more of a hobby rather than work! It won't be a preachy podcast, I'm looking for people to give advice (to me as well as listeners), talking about certain difficulties, and I'll also be trying to interview Diabetic Specialists, professional sports people with diabetes, and anyone else who will talk to me - so a real range! If you have Type 1 or 2 Diabetes and you are interested in appearing/starring in one of my podcast episodes, do let me know!
  6. No but maybe I will. Thank you! I've just found an email address for Southwark Arts Team and Community Southwark so may give them a try. Thanks a lot!
  7. Seriously. What's the problem?
  8. Hello, Does anyone work for, or know anyone who works for Southwark Council? I have a community audio project proposal for the Council and they're very hard to get in touch with! http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ - I co-run audio, podcast & radio projects for children & adults in ED and would love to get a large-scale community arts project underway for a little Christmas idea I have! If you have a contact name/number/email address, I'd be really grateful! Thank you! Zoe (& Leon)
  9. Deleted.
  10. Hi all, I'm looking for cheapish/reasonably priced weekend holiday accommodation for next weekend for the boyf and I, and was wondering if anyone owned a holiday home in places like Sussex or Kent - somewhere not too far to drive from ED - that would like to rent it out to us for the weekend (Fri 23rd September - Sunday 25th September). If you have a second home or rent a holiday pad, please do let me know! I need a break from Laaandaaan! In return for offering an ED discount, we run audio projects http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ and can record anything of your choice free of charge! Thanks a lot! Zoe & Leon
  11. Hi everyone, thanks for all the suggestions. I went to Lily's hair in the end and I'm so glad I did. Lily did an amazing job with my hair and I came away with a fringe (I never thought I could rock a fringe)! I would 100% recommend Lily - great price, great cut!
  12. Hello, I have a slight phobia of getting my hair cut. I'm not sure what it is that I dislike but the whole notion of going to the hairdressers slightly freaks me out. Anyway, I am getting real fed up with my long lanky hair and need a decent (but cheapish) haircut! I've been to a few round ED but not very happy with the cut so I tend to just not go.. Has anyone got any good suggestions which will not cost me a day's worth of work to get a little trim or even a restyle!? Any tips and recommendations very welcome. If you could see my split ends, you would cringe! Thanks a lot, Zoe

  14. Hello, Just wanted to send a quick thank you to all the local children that attended our WordPlay Podcast Club last week at The Ivy House in Nunhead. 17. Hi everyone, We're producing a podcast for Foyles summer kids festival over the holidays called 'Storybox', and we are interviewing Author & Illustrator David Barrow on Sunday at Royal Festival Hall: http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=2874 The problem is, we don't want to do it! Our podcast is solely presented by lots of lovely children that we found on the ED Forum and we want the children to do the reporting / interviewing for the podcast. Here is the official trail of the podcast: https://soundcloud.com/foyles/welcome-to-the-foyles-storybox-podcast Do get in touch if your children would like to interview David Barrow on Sunday 24th July 11am-12 Noon (interview will take place at 12 noon) at Royal Festival Hall after his event. We have written some questions for the children to ask but would be great for the children to come up with their own! Tickets are free, but will need to be booked via the link above. Lots of great events throughout the festival (including our radio drama workshop on Fri 5th Aug - http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=2925) so do book your tickets if your kids also fancy starring in their own radio play! Get in touch if this is up your street! All the best, Zoe & Leon http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/
  18. Surely the weekend is the busiest time - swimming on a Sunday is a right mare! I only query a catch as fusion was a not for profit organisation... just curious to find out if the prices of general swim/gym will rise the rest of the week. There's always a catch, but I'm still signing up and do think freebies are great.. Gotta lop off this extra lard!
  19. 20. The WordPlay team (myself and Leon) run radio, podcast & audio projects for children ? some of your kids may have already scripted & performed their very own radio plays at our radio workshops or they may have created their own podcast at one of our clubs. Our next exciting podcast project is being held at The Ivy House starting Tuesday 26th July. We are running a four day summer podcast club for children aged 8-16 at The Ivy House and the theme will be ?LOCAL?! So we invite the local kids to interpret this any way they like, and working together as a group, they will produce a podcast including all the jingles & idents, conducting their own interviews and reports, and trails/adverts. The podcast course will be held at The Ivy House on the following dates from 11am-1pm: Tuesday 26th July Wednesday 27th July Tuesday 2nd August Wednesday 3rd August By the end of the 4 days, the children in the club will have created their very own podcast episode which we will post online for all to hear! Tickets cost ?50 per child for the whole course, but if two children book together, it will cost only ?40 each (or ?80 for the pair), so get your child to bring a friend along and you will receive a lovely discount! Spaces are limited so do book ASAP if your children would like to get involved in local podcasting ? for the children, by the children! Just to get your audio juices flowing, here?s a very short clip of two young hosts interviewing their brother, Noah, on his view on immigration. At a recent WordPlay club, Indigo & Lola decided their podcast should be about the news, all from the perspective of 12 year olds: Their full episode will be up on our website shortly, so stay tuned! For more info about what we do, head to our website http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ and to buy your ticket, visit the events page http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/events We look forward to hearing from you and your lovely creative (and talkative) children! Zoe & Leon
  21. Thanks to everyone who contacted us - we can't wait to work with your kids on this fabulous audio project! We have just one slot left to fill (for two children), if anyone else would like their children to co-host the Story Box Podcast-Kids Takeover, do just let us know!
  22. Hello, So this isn't based in ED, but we are! Foyles bookshop have asked us (WordPlay) http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ to create a podcast series based on this year's summer Lit festival for children & young adults - The Story Box Festival. We are looking for children aged 8-16 to help us out to host the podcast - there will be several fantastic events throughout the summer reading festival and we would like our young hosts, presenters and reporters to interview authors, have discussions based on the events, help write the script for the podcast and present the festival news! http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=2927 If you would like your child to take part, please do email us on [email protected] or send me a PM on here. We're really excited about this project. For more info on all activities, here is also a link to other events / workshops etc happening this summer at Foyles Bookshop! http://www.foyles.co.uk/events Finally, we are also running two radio drama workshops at Foyles in case you have budding radio star kids: http://www.foyles.co.uk/Public/Events/Detail.aspx?eventId=2925 We're looking forward to hearing from you!
  23. Hello everyone, Over the summer we are running several podcast and radio projects for children and are in the process of producing some short audio trails prior to the events. As these events are for children, it makes perfect sense to have young voices talking on the microphones. So, we're on the lookout for children (aged 8-16) to record some short audio clips - we're based in East Dulwich and can bring our microphones to you if your kids fancy getting involved. In way of exchange, we'd be able to offer a discounted radio drama party for your children and their friends. We can also record anything that you or your children would like to be saved forever in audio - perhaps a song, story or poem etc. If you would like to know a little more about what we do, head over to our website: http://www.wordplayeducation.co.uk/ We're looking forward to hearing from you and your budding radio star children! Don't hesitate to ask any questions. All the best, Zoe & Leon
