First of all, check on things like Autotrader for similar vehicles to see how much they are going for, then if they are going for more than the insurance is offering, go back and ask for more. Also, double check on your policy on the vehicle value that it was insured for. They will always offer less to get things sorted out quickly. This is usually much lower than the market value. Once you have an offer which you're happy with and can purchase a like for like car with, take the money. If you buy the car back you either A - have to pay for expensive repairs or B - try and sell if for spares or repair/parts. If you do repair it, you will struggle to insure it at a reasonable cost as it has been classed as an insurance write off, then you'll also struggle to sell it or trade it in down the line.

Nearest bluebell woods to ED?
Dom Johnston replied to sillywoman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It depends on how much you're really looking for, but I went for a walk through the woods at Beckenham Place Park yesterday and bluebells were aplenty. -
Kings College Hospital maternity services
Dom Johnston replied to StephSE19's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Steph, We were due to, however, we moved and ended up going to Lewisham and having our baby in their birth centre. They have 6 rooms so we felt more confident about having one. If you can give birth in one of the birth centre rooms (at kings or Lewisham) then I really recommend it. They're much comfier and cosier. Because they are midwife led, there isn't all of the medical equipment making it much cosier for you and you will have a dedicated midwife with you all the way through. We were told that the midwives prefer it as the doctors on labour ward try to get things done their way, which can include interventions before they are necessary. You have better mood lighting, birthing pools, en suite bathrooms, maternity balls, a double bed to lie on afterwards, you can play your own music and you get to stay there for a few hours after birth with baby too rather than being shipped onto a shared ward with 3 - 5 other new babies who could all be crying making rest much more difficult. If there are any complications, they can get help from a dr very quickly and efficiently.. You just need to call the birth centre when your waters break and let them know you're going in and you'd like to use the birth centre. Worst case scenario is they say there aren't enough midwives available and you have to go to the labour ward for the duration of the labour or just until a midwife is available. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions about it, feel free to drop me a DM. Dom -
There is a school of thought that they can be dangerous for suffocation if baby is unsupervised... We decided against getting one straight away. If your baby can't sleep in anything else, then it would be worth it, but for the cost of them, it would be worth exhausting every other option before hand. If you don't have a moses basket, maybe see if you can pick on up for free of cheap on here first and try that, our little one sleeps like a log in hers

Moving out of East Dulwich to release capital - but where to??
Dom Johnston replied to GrumpyOldGitLady's topic in The Lounge
My sister recently moved from ED to Faversham in Kent. Lovely town. Has everything you need. Close to the beaches and you can get into London in around an hour. Alternatively, I moved from ED to Sydenham as you get more for your money and it takes an extra 3 minutes on the train to get to London Bridge than it did from ED, but you also have Lower Sydenham, Sydenham Hill, Forest Hill, Penge East and West as well as Crystal Palace all within walking distance so you won't be stuck when Southern Rail don't run like ED... and you can get a bus to ED in around 10 minutes... -
I would highly recommend the resort of Tigaki on Kos. It's one long road that has a lot of tavernas and a few bars. At one end there is a beach and the other end there are mountains. You can arrange island tours from the same strip and all the hotels let non-residents use their pools if you don't want to go to the beach. Very reasonably priced and if you want to venture to Kos town (very easy to walk around with little ones) it's ?2 each on a bus and takes about 20 minutes.

I think we should cut him some slack, it's clear he had a woof day. Casually going for walkies around a park can lead to all kinds of issues. Some of you just think that he's barking mad, but this is a place where people can be let off the leash... He's sticking to his story with terrier like tenacity and for that, I think we should give him a round of apaws...

For somebody who has the real world to go back to Steve, you certainly post a lot on here... I suppose some good has come from these posts, it's united people who usually disagree so much with each other. The enemy of my enemy et al... Seriously Steve, you could google (other search engines are available) private prosecution service and then when you speak to anybody, they will happily tell you that you're p'ing into the wind. The fact that you started your beautifully written previous post by name calling the woman's husband, then refused to answer any of the follow ups on that particular thread, meant that anybody with the slightest inclination to side with you on this entire episode has completely vanished. You should count yourself lucky that you aren't being prosecuted yourself for voyeurism... I believe you mentioned something about the UN in your previous post too, maybe you can apply for some of the aid that they offer to fund your unnecessary litigation... Good day sir!

Crawford Youth Club door to door sponsorship?
Dom Johnston replied to alyson_s's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I lived on Abbotswood Road too. Moved out at the weekend and had the lads come to my door last week. They seemed very polite and little nervous about asking, so I thought it might've been genuine. They said that Southwark council are helping with the fundraising this year, so might be worth checking with them before calling the police? -

YEA, POSTING IN CAPITALS IS A RIGHT PAIN IN THE BACK END! DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND WHERE THE CAPS LOCK KEY IS. I MEAN, THERE'S NO NEED TO SHOUT IS THERE? :) -

They've already started hacking some trees down, covering my car in about 4 tonnes of sticky sawdust. I complained to Southwark council as there was no warning about the work being carried out and I was informed that it was nothing to do with them, so I wouldn't have thought a TPO will hinder any work

I've seen people leave them out on my street and they've been collected so I think you're OK. -
