  1. Many years ago I had a 45 rpm of Cassius Clay, singing 'Stand by Me' which I really loved, b side was 'The legend of Cassius Clay', - "This is the legend of Cassius Clay, the most beautiful fighter in the world today" Does anyone else remember it? I also remember Ali on Parkinson, and his 'bluebirds fly with bluebirds' speech, and always the quick quip. And with the torch at the Olympics. Rest in Peace, Champ
  2. How is it legally possible to end a tenancy with a weeks notice? - shabby treatment, for whatever reason

Moxons... William > Rose ... Franco Manca.. and the Gelati, queues on a Sunday across the pavement, also often queues at the weekend outside TCC as people have not yet realised there is a Thai pop up opposite at the Duck Egg Cafe, which is good value. I doubt there will be queues outside M&S when it finally opens, although I imagine there will be queues at the checkout. > > DulwichFox
  4. Harriet Harman is visiting Solomons Passage this morning first thing, according to her interview on Drivetime. An excellent photo opportunity and shame there will not be tv cameras there. All residents, best wishes, and an opinion that it is not for you (residents) to find yourselves somewhere to live after having been asked to leave - all good sense, manners, and pragmatism suggest this is the responsibility of Wandle. And possibly legal, but as I am not sure, I say that in a little voice. The interview with Tracey Lees was a jaw dropper wasn't it?? She described Wandle, twice, as a business! Well a business has customers who need to be catered for and if needs be placated. And we all want value for money and not be ripped off Tracey. Wandle is a Housing Association, publicly funded. I make no excuses for Tracey Lees but would say that she has been CEO since March 2015 and would not have known about Solomons Passage problems, and picked up the poisoned chalice unwittingly. However now as CEO she is able to show her mettle if not her compassion, and to do the right thing by her hapless residents.
  5. I am desperately hoping the supermarket client is the Coop, I think we should be told
  6. Sue, 'birds being slaughtered' : even more dramatic : two weeks ago before the tree outside the nursery leafed, I saw a little bird sitting on a branch minding its own business, until a crow flapped down, scooped it up and flew away with it.
  7. I dare not leave the house ..........
  8. Ellem86, a Miele is best, but mid range Bosch are excellent value I would say, having had both. You should not put wet clothes in a drier, you will short it. A rapid spin for longer than 2 mins at 1600 and using a full spin after washing synthetics, when the spin is shortened, will reduce your drying time considerably.
  9. and hope I am speaking for everyone else? speak up, please!
  10. Aine and Anacarmen, I pm'd you both. I am so shocked by this I cannot imagine how you are all feeling. Have you been given written notice? or only verbally advised at a meeting in Wandle swanky offices at Minerva House. They have enough floor space there to house you all, as goodness knows they are not putting it to productive use at the moment. And echo what ITATM just asked.
  11. There are twin cables across Crystal Palace Road near Rodwell Road and cameras on posts outside DMC
  12. Does anyone know what has happened in Lloyds? four familiar faces have gone and a notice on the door advertising for staff. My drugs will not now be in until next week! Has anyone else experienced difficulties?
  13. hello, does anyone know why this was closed last evening? (Saturday) - when we walked past at about 9.00pm all closed up and no explanation. Has this 'pop up' now ended? TCC heaving of course!
  14. hello Louisa, : last summer, we heard, from a market stallholder, that Londis was destined to become a Costa Coffee. We scoffed at this idea, and asked in Londis, to be told emphatically, No, and were reassured by this. We need a 24 hour Londis more than another coffee shop?
  15. when you say oven clean - do you mean just for the oven/s or a cooker clean? When I telephoned Hither Green the woman I spoke to quoted me 70 for large and small oven then 10? for the cooker top, which is wipe clean ceramic, it is a slide in electric cooker. Was v expensive as I recall. I could not pin her down to what else would be cleaned, as I wanted the cooker slid out, and the whole cooker cleaned. I was told to wait until the cleaner arrived and ask him, or rather tell him what I wanted cleaning. If the cleaning is piece by piece it might be worthwhile buying a new cooker. It isn't filthy or disgusting, but has been stored and would benefit from a Spring clean. It doesn't make sense to me to clean an oven and leave the rest. Could anyone enlighten me, and possibly the OP please?
  16. Lynne, this made me laugh. This is what I mean by an assumption, and an expectation that if we go up a size it will be cheaper, and not be penalised for buying more ! Lynne I am coming shopping with you next week, they won't get past both of us !
  17. Lynne - in Superdrug - cotton wool rolls 97p, 2 for ?2. when I pointed this anomaly out, the assistant could not understand what I was 'getting at' = there is often an 'assumption' of tandem value : there should certainly be an 'assumption' of marketing integrity.
  18. caveat emptor and all that - we have often been overcharged at DKH and Forest Hill Sainsbury's, both stores notorious for misrepresenting deals e.g. microwave special offer ?50, ?100 at the till as 'the offer finished yesterday' was particularly galling, and till receipts as exercises in obfuscation.
