I trawled the headings for funeral music/songs and found one from 2007, which didn't feel right to resurrect, as it had naturally laid itself to rest, so here is a new one, and hope that no one is put out. As I am destined for the fiery furnace, my choice of song is Soulsavers, with the sonorous voice of Mark Lanegan, joined by the ethereal voice of Red Ghost, representing the spirit, with You will Miss me When I Burn, and to make sure everyone is suitably mollified, as they leave the crematorium sobbing, Barber's Adagio for Strings. However, if my children defy me and I am in a coffin, I want the Stones 'Can't you hear me knocking?'

We also had a takeaway one Saturday from the pop up at the Duck Egg, never again, you quite correct.

of perhaps a burial with black clad sobbing family and at least two former lovers giving sidelong glances, cremation, scattering of ashes into the wind across landscape hundreds of miles away, and much inconvenience to bemused family, humanist, hessian and environmentally friendly, at sea with lone piper, a pyre alongside the Ganges, bones picked clean, Viking fashion, burning boat, much shouting and waving of horned mead cups by grizzled bearded red haired warrior types, New Orleans style, through the streets, trumpets and colour, sedate and quiet - a country churchyard, plot marked and paid for years ago, a family corner, moss, ivy and forget- me -nots, whichever, please make sure I am well dead. Feel free to indulge your fantasy right here, plumed matching black horses towing glass carriage passe, whereas, dragged through the streets of ED on a palanquin by a half naked man riding bareback on a skewbald pony playing up, wouldn't.

Yes I agree, we had a takeaway from the TCC a couple of weeks ago which was supposed to contain fresh seasonable veg, I could only see frozen carrot slices, I have never seen anything as brown, straight in the bin, what a waste. Disgusting though. real mince from WR, not too lean, squashed into shape, with lots of fried spanish onions, on a bun with a little salad, magic, quick, nutritious, tasty, chin wiping good.

East Dulwich Grove crossing - dangerous drivers!
Elphinstone's Army replied to Lolamaxx's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I do not understand either this justification or the manner of its description - please elucidate. It is a treacherous corner - vehicles suddenly turn into EDG without signalling, a notoriously bad junction -
This morning, (3.16)? I awoke thinking the MotherShip was landing on the roof, awful roar. There is no respite today. I keep windows facing East closed, as the larger planes seem to change gear over Barry Road, hence the screaming engines we oft times hear. And consider the pollution.

hello Alice, A perceptive remark you made....I was thinking of this film only because of the extraordinary heat and humidity in the city and how this affects us and sends people crazy. ...the ice cube scene is censored on youtube.

Duncan, I think this was the 'song of the year' and not to be confused with Mick Hucknall's song of the same name : 'Fight the Power' by Public Enemy was the anthem throughout the film, music by Spike Lee's Dad if I remember correctly.

It's disappointing. After having a good peruse and sampling the street food on offer and mentally shrieking at the cost of a lump of bread which looked as though it belonged at the Jorvik Centre, I didn't want to repeat the venture. We shopped for greens and flowers at the main stall, the quality is excellent, but it's absurdly expensive. We would walk or bus depending on mood and weather as parking is difficult. If we drove we always thought : now we are in the car we might as well go to Brockley. Then of course it's humping it all home sans car. And all seemed a bit of an effort. Perhaps it is just a little too far. We are spoilt with not only Brockley, but years of Borough Market, although that is losing its lustre, threatened as it is by it's upstart neighbours in Maltby Street, Ropewalk. The Horniman Market is hitting on a precise demographic which is easily jaded, or perhaps when what is offered does not satisfy, will look for it elsewhere. We also have Dulwich College and Dulwich Village markets, vying for trade. Herne Hill Sunday market offers more interesting fare, enthusiastic, entertaining and sparkly stall holders, and good 'atmosphere' which has eluded the set up at the Horniman. Why not a good old fashioned greengrocers locally, who makes fresh juices, opens early, always jovial, sells fresh farm eggs, honey, Kent apples and cob nuts, does 10p rabbit bags (discarded outer leaves) and provides us all with fresh fruit and veg and vitamins, delivers! and gives boxed organic A&C and Riverford and that other new one, a run for their money, now wouldn't that be wonderful. Horniman farmers market had a novelty factor which it clearly could not sustain as bobbsy has described. To not have an alternative to dairy milk for coffee for example, seems both short sighted and perverse. And wilfully ignores a prescription for enhancement. There is no vibrancy. Or to quote steveo, it's beige.

Anyone remember the ice cube scene from Spike Lee's film - 'Do the Right Thing,' 1989 : I was thinking of this on the hot bus on the way home, just made me hotter.

They are everywhere, crawling out from cracks in the pavement, all over the garden, the cat, my hair, but no thunder bugs as yet, which means we just have to tolerate the humidity a little longer and stay away from the compost. Anyone here remember Fraggle Rock? with Mr McKay? didn't they have a surreal singing compost heap? that would cheer you up malumbu, a little anarchic mischief making muppet fashion?

I didn't say I was outraged, which smacks of a dowager Duchess clutching her pearls. Perhaps you do not find this post predatory and creepy but I did which does not make me wrong or skew my perspective. And I am astonished that you would excuse a dubious post and criticise mine.

What do you mean, 'just' as though this is somehow excusable? there is no 'just' he is advertising himself and sounds like a ILIMMB, this isn't amusing, funny or rational, it is creepy and sinister, and uncivilised. Back to work, disturbed.

Am I the only person offended by EDMP late night posting, feeling frisky and his X box is broken? and don't be telling me to lighten up. There is enough tension on the sreets without a sexual predator being encouraged. I thought this site was self policing. The OP is well out of order posting such an inappropriate remark and totally on the wrong sort of forum.

A city state. as in a city wall/boundary? close the gates at night and charge entry? where will this abstract boundary be? I think we are all in shock.

Steveo, Yes, my mistake, the top floor flat Hendrix lived in is now incorporated into tours of Handel's house.

See ? I was right to be anxious, and at least I was distracted by Jimmy s and drumming and drugs. Not enough, sadly but thank you anyway.

A low turn out apparently. And look at the weather today. I think we should try again next week.
