  1. It isn't only you.... I have been close to/in tears with the machinations and chicanery involved in navigating this site, booby trapped to confuse the unwary. They are trickier than a barrowload of monkeys. Bon voyage !
  2. what's brown and sticky ?
  3. apart fom the tracks mentioned, for different reasons, and apart from my own personal favourites, the one which stands out for me in terms of visual imagery is Se?or, Se?or, (Tales of Yankee Power), I can see him in the doorway of the hacienda, dust from horses hooves on the horizon , if he had only mated with Laura Esquivel, imagine. the magical realism that partnership would have produced, or Isabel Allende, wonderful stuff, well deserved and about time too.

  6. Has anyone used this service, from flyers through the letterbox, ?5 off, Ben Tarry, a Bromley initiative?
  7. Finding, at last, good condition Mervyn Peake paperbacks to replace mine foolishly lent, years ago, in a charity shop, Titus Groan and Titus Alone, with a space in between them. sigh. Probably only ten minutes too late.
  8. what's your point
  9. dang - and I booked helicopters and everything.....

  11. Immediate neighbours who empty a months supply of glass bottles into a wheelie bin at 23.47 at night
  12. perhaps they are all busy out searching for a ginger bearded man and an Italian looking woman with a little boy and concerned expressions
  13. you need to be in contact with natty 01295 : he also is looking to meet women and is equally desperate, perhaps you could go 'meeting ' women together? wear hard hats. good luck/
  14. Dawn, even though you all hail from a small village in East Sussex, you knew about the EDF and how to access it, enabling you to thank a hospitable couple for their kindness, which you have achieved.
  15. DiD Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sweet....they probably go to the Gardens GP's > surgery. You could try there? I would be most surprised and alarmed should anyone there divulge details of anyone's address, name, anything identifying. Patient confidentiality it's called.
  16. seriously, are you 12 yoa ?
  17. Zoe TB Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Seriously. What's the problem? The problem Zoe is that your problem , like a child's, is hoisted, foisted, and declared onto others, because you do not have the wherewithal to contact the correct department yourself, , but want others here to do it for you - like a child - and will never be taken seriously whilst you allow the EDF do gooders to do your thinking for you, thus not only infantalising you but diminishing any clout you might possibly have had pre post.
  18. No he isn't an ass but exasperated as any normal person would be by a request for info suggested by the OP, embarrassing in its delivery. BB you are enabling a person who cannot sort herself out. " O wait a moment, I will just google that for you........" this thread as many others, is replete with show offs, problem solvers and know all's.... and infantilisation of hapless requests.
  19. There is no cure I'm afraid, allow it to run it's course.. Or perhaps, as in dreams, your subconscious is trying to communicate something to you?? Mine is Jim White's 'Static on the Radio' it has been 5 days now ........
  20. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to divorce - another of life's certainties destroyed.
  21. There was a party or something at 182 CPR last night from early. Shouting excitable grown people. Nearly opposite the GE. Perhaps people don't realise just how noisy they are and that on a still night sound carries, and upwards. We could not understand how and why so many people would be gathered in such a small garden, shouting and roaring, with adjacent gardens and close houses, as it backs onto Other houses and gardens, it is quite a tightly packed area, and waited for the weather to turn. They did repair inside but we kept the windows closed. We would have welcomed a note pushed through the letter box alerting us of imminent revelries. Alas no such courtesy, old fashioned or new.
  22. alice Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > but what views! Mary the views were distant and not as clear as from the Horniman bandstand Telegraph Hill or Peckham Library although I appreciate one would not be living there The windblown view in no way IMHO compensates for the bleak brutal and inhospitable site with no planters, flowers, music to soften it. And a single person living next to a family with 3 small children is a good thi g?
  23. O well done Mary what nonsense this makes of those of us awaiting a cancellation and changing complicated family plans to enable a visit. What a bleak site/ living environment and much was made of a shop on site whose owner apparently knows everyone by name. Disappointing tour - volunteer guide could not answer any questions and told us straight faced that she had to 'look up what ziggurat meant'
  24. Mary there is one flat being shown every half hour and it is ticketed, sold out.
  25. for a Superior drinking experience !
