Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage
Elphinstone's Army replied to PinkyB's topic in The Lounge
when you do something nice for someone (not family) or take time trouble and effort choosing a gift or flowers, and the response is "O you shouldn't have bothered" -
M&S - you read it here first - any bets?

He isn't even a politician, certainly not versed in tact and diplomacy, he is like something you would meet at the crossroads......

you can't go back to sleep now you've woken us all up, anyway, how can you sleep at a time like this

lavender, you are wasting your time, he has gone to ground... but thanks for the vids ! and your offbeat humour here on the often ponderous EDF

Karen don't you live in Camberwell? I wouldn't think anyone will want to help you, most people like to be appreciated and have effort rewarded, whatever their skills or circumstance. Hoist by your own petard, I reckon.

if only we were allowed bonfires, what a blaze we could have tonight, - coming home yesterday from Peckham, I counted five. (always double), we could stack them and have a zipwire, we could stack them and have parachute training, we could lay a pile of them, springless, and jump around, we could ....

DJP this is not the right forum to seek relationship advice for many reasons, although pous makes a good suggestion, (a different counsellor). We do not know you or your family and it's best if you do not offer any more detail which could perhaps identify them, or yourself. However being a woman I cannot resist an insight - what you are describing is a lack of intimacy.

Today, Guardian witness photographs of 'dumping' and fly tipping in London, - mostly mattresses

I read the comments, and can see that the element of danger, shock surprise and damage, is an inherent part of what we still refer to as bonfire night, as though there is a little of the anarchist in all of us.. There has to be a thesis here.. I miss the old days ...

I think you were trying to be helpful... last year, heading home along Cyrena Road, about 6pm, a wizzing noise and a depleted rocket landed at my feet, and at municipal display, a rocket found its way to earth alongside my knee length boot, skimmed it, had I been wearing baggy boots and said rocket had plunged down between leg and boot would I have been burned/injured? When we were little, my Dad would be out in the back garden coaxing Catherine wheels to spin, and Golden Rain, went on forever, boring, and a glass milk bottle for a rocket finale, a modest selection but captivating from safely behind the french windows, and sparklers! so pretty, my favourite. And one year when it was raining, a box of indoor fireworks displayed in the kitchen, which we watched politely. Bangers through letterboxes were not uncommon, or fireworks tied to cats tails. Bonfires I miss, all that snap and crackle and unpredictability : now we must be safe, no danger, no thrill. Stay safe y'all and wear tight boots !

Hey ! I opened this thread in order to alert you all to this interesting shop, which I didn't want to share anyway, in case you all got there first and bagged anything good, but altruism prevailed - and not so that you could hijack it and turn it into a guitar dating site, you are potentially scaring off bona fide respondents. Whilst I am here : Horse or H was heroin, and wild horses was a bad bad trip, in the colloquial parlance of the time. This song smacks (pardon the pun) of Keith and another sung by him, which I picked up from the soundtrack of The Sopranos, best played/watched live, 'Thru and Thru' , same sort of plaintive longing, - I am betting on Keith. Gram Parsons didn't have the necessary melancholy, too busy with other creative endeavours.

and me ! Mick at his most mellow, wonderful heartfelt song, gotta hear it now ..

Lupins ! with apologies to monty python, grow amongst lupins, with a generator and heat lamps, totally organic, then sell 'lupins' at the farmers market - preferably in DV, what larks ! Sue be careful you could be an accessory to these shenanigans

KirstyH, thoughtful, perceptive post, thank you, followed by a not so perceptive post, proving your point precisely .

wearing a t shirt with a stupid slogan does not preclude either category thinking that you've still got it -
I feel this is an utterly disingenuous post disregarding an expostulation as a figure of speech. It is possible to hear high pitched sounds, eg to be able to tell who has their tv on, whilst walking past houses. Also, young people have more acute hearing faculties than us oldies, hearing naturally deteriorates with age. If you loved in the country you would no doubt be wakened by birdsong, which can be annoying, gun dogs barking, tractors, church bells, all loud sounds we can familiarise ourselves with and likewise, in the city, traffic, foxes, late night carousers, dustbin men, early morning car doors, which do not bother us at all, as they are non threatening : proven by babies and young children sleeping through familiar noise and sounds, unless a door slams suddenly perhaps, when a baby or young child will start, and cry, a fearful alert. however, it is the PITCH of the engine noise which is so disturbing, as though it was about to land on LL (or my roof), ergo, what the sensitive to noise contingent are experiencing is the 'start and alert' phenomenon, albeit with curses rather than crying. Although I might try sobbing, perhaps it will help. Edited for too many typos, and to remove last repeated paragraph edcam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > toto Wrote: > > > > > And how about this morning ? Come on ! You must > be > > deaf ! > > Interesting that those who complain the most about the aircraft noise seem to think it's ok to insult > those who aren't bothered by it. M&S will sell it ? On making your own, medium oatmeal from SMBS, treacle and butter not margarine, line the tin with double paper, fold paper over after cooling and store for a week in an airtight tin, in a cool place. If you can resist it then you will have a wonderful stick to the roof of your mouth parkin. good luck.
