I would recommend Fiona's Diggidy Daycare which is in Loughborough Junction but they offer pick up and drop off services when they have capacity. My dog has been going there for 3 years and loves it.

Charter School ED - SEN / ADHD experience
charlottep replied to schneidypops11@gmail's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Slightly different question, but i'm curious as to whether schools get additional funding to support the number of children they have on the register or if funding is only available for those children with a formal plan in place? Thanks -
Which is the best curry restaurant on Lordship Lane?
charlottep replied to bh28's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The menu at Malabar Feast looks very similar to the menu at Ganapati. Are they definitely not related? -
would like to add another recommendation for Dave. He fitted a new stair runner for me. He showed up on time, was speedy and did a really nice job. Problem solved a couple of issues. Really happy with the end result and his pricing is very competitive too.

GP surgeries that offer shared care agreement?
charlottep replied to charlottep's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thx for your responses. He has been on the waiting list with CAMHS since April 2022. I have spoken to the head partner at my GP practice and although she is sympathetic she has been firm on not being able to offer a shared care agreement. In addition to paying for his assessment and medication, I had to pay for all of his routine tests privately too before he started medication. CAMHS are not disputing his private diagnosis, at least not yet as they are yet to consider his case. I have had problems with his school though being circumspect about his private diagnosis and not offering the help he should be given as it hasn't been referred through CAMHS. The psychiatrist that diagnosed him is an NHS consultant also. My husband and daughter also have ADHD so i know how it manifests and my son has major issues with attention deficit, memory and organisation which are really hampering his confidence 😞 -
GP surgeries that offer shared care agreement?
charlottep replied to charlottep's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks Sonners, funnily enough I am currently at 306, but they don't do shared services. I think they are a good surgery but they have been pretty firm on that point and refused to refer my son for the tests he needed before going on to medication and have said that they cannot prescribe his medication either. Pleased you are having a more helpful experience with them. It's a shame that more GPs don't support shared services given the huge pressure on CAMHS. -
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are GP surgeries in ED that offer shared cared agreement where an NHS GP works with a private practitioner to help treat someone? My son has adhd, we went down the private route for diagnosis as the waiting list with camhs was almost 2 years. Now that we have the diagnosis our GP is not willing to take on prescribing this medication as he wasn't diagnosed by camhs, which means we have to pay a small fortune every month to help manage his symptoms. Thx. Charlotte

Travel after Covid recovery
charlottep replied to doubledeckerfun's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
hi doubledeckerfun, have you downloaded the NHS app? My recovered from Covid pass appeared on my app a day after my isolation period ended. You don't need to get it from your GP. -
i had my first AZ jab yesterday at midday. Felt fine all day but woke up at 1:30am this morning with a fever, flu like symptoms, aching all over. Paracetamol has helped a bit but feel totally wiped out today, back and leg pain, fever and chills, groggy. hope tomorrow will be better!

Excellent carpet/ sofa cleaner - Steve Nourse from Inclean
charlottep replied to hkirsop's topic in Reviews
Another recommendation for Steve, he came and cleaned two sofas, one of which in particular was in a pretty ropey state. Both look clean and fresh now. Very easy to deal with, efficient and and friendly. -
Not sure if it will help, but a petition has been set up: https://www.change.org/p/home-office-help-a-dying-man-s-brother-enter-the-uk-to-be-his-donor-to-save-his-life?tk=5mcqBvNGz_wr7h4aHkubI2Qui9Kb0s0ZVsQOnb_8GVs&utm_medium=email&utm_source=signature_receipt&utm_campaign=new_signature

Sorry, i know that this is not strictly a family room topic but i'm looking for some inspiration and i thought given the great ideas on the kitchen thread that i might find it here. I have had a new window fitted in my bathroom and i need to buy a blind for it. What do people typically use or recommend for bathroom windows? I'm not a massive fan of roller blinds, i prefer roman blinds but i'm assuming the moisture in the bathroom would wreck a roman blind. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks, Charlotte

Problems at/outside east dulwich station
charlottep replied to Blondie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Road blocked between the cost cutter under the bridge and Melbourne grove. Best way to access is up quorn road, Avondale rise and then copplestone. Very sad. -
Hi and congrats on your pregnancy. Call the brierley's on Monday as you can self refer, don't worry about your GP doing it for you. Good luck, they're fantastic!

Best age for boy to start at nursery
charlottep replied to reren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My little girl started at 18 months (just under). I would have preferred to send her at 2 (her brother started nursery when he was 2) but the nursery only does one in-take in September so she wouldn't have been able to go until she was closer to 2.5. She does two full days and absolutely loves it. The rest of the time she is looked after by my au pair (our au pairs are friends btw), so a good mixture between an adult carer at home and nursery. Personally I don't think 2 is too young, both my children got a lot out of nursery at that age, my eldest still loves popping in to say hi! -
i think the article is a bit provocative. as much as we are in the social media generation i still think that on the whole we do far more than previous generations did with their children - in terms of playgroups, swimming lessons, reading, crafts, organic this and that, etc (my kids have a busier social calendar than i do). i realise this is a bit of a generalisation but i still believe there is a lot of truth in it. i think we are entitled to a bit of downtime between all the organic cooking, running to this play-date and that class surely?

The other thing about ADHD (in addition to the markers that Saffron has pointed out) is hyper-focus. Often on very random things. So in addition to seeing the inattentive and hyperactive behaviour, you'd probably see one or two things that your boy is absolutely engaged by (maybe to the point of compulsion). My husband's family has a history of ADHD and the markers are very clear in my mind, although i agree that at your son's age it will be hard to walk away with a diagnosis. There is a very good chance that he's just very spirited. Despite our family history, I have resovled that my boy is spirited as although he can be a bit manic he is not exhibiting the other very specific traits i have seen in this condition. PM me if you want more information, I've spent a LOT of time sitting down with consultants (not for my son) specialising in this condition.

Good luck! I'd suggest lots of taurpaulin and cover more than you think you'll actually be in contact with - not attractive but very practical and you can easily chuck it away afterwards. I had the birth pool in a box and it felt very sturdy and was also comfy. Try and make sure you leave sufficient room around the whole of the pool if poss, for 2 midwives and partner. Mine was near a corner making it harder for the midwives to reach me at times.

Yes! Both mine are just recovering from it. Littlest one vomited on and off for 11 days and lost a bit of weight - she's eating constantly now she's better. Eldest one projectile vomited three times and then shook it off. Both had really bad stomach cramps and were prescribed some medicine that helped a lot. Car seat and mattress ruined because of it! It's quite a nasty bug (i assumed it was noro) and I'm very glad to put it behind us.

First Steps Montessori Nursery on Upland Road - thoughts?
charlottep replied to Trish's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son went there for about two years and my younger daughter is there now. I think the teachers in each of the three classrooms are great - very caring and nurturing. I dropped my daughter off this morning and everyone (kids and teachers) was in the front classroom dancing to a steel band sound track, it was very uplifting and my daughter toddled off at full pace to get involved. I would highly recommend it, it has given me much peace of mind to have my children there. -
My son was EXACTLY the same until we started reading him "Mr Poo Goes to Pooland" and something just clicked with him. It's like an NHS leaflet rather than a book, I think I posted a link about it on here some time ago.

Gift ideas for toddler girls
charlottep replied to ladywotlunches's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm having the same issue with my 19 month old who spends all her time playing with her big brother's trains, cars, helicopters, etc. Family all asking for ideas of what to buy her and the only thing i can think of is a tea set! I think she's still a little young for a dolls house and she doesn't like dolls, although she loves cuddly toys. I have no problems with her playing with my boy's toys but would love to introduce her to other stuff too. What do other little girls enjoy playing with?!
