No matter how long these conversations go on for, i.e. the CPZ's, Southwark will always push it through if that is the plan. No different to this.

Why is Champion HIll to remain closed?
-
Unfortunately those that are pushing these measures are the newby,s. Young, we know it all and have no idea how an area works or evolved over the years.Rather like moving to the country because they liked what they saw and then changing everything. Most long standing residents never know of these consultations as they have a living to earn and do not get to hear of these plans or look at council websites so those that have more time, have coffee mornings to think up these plans to influence Cllrs who want to be liked to push these/their schemes. Champion Hill was only busy for a very short period in the morning and evening rush hours and empty the rest of the time. This knowledge comes from living on and around Champion Hill for 75 years. Closing it pushed traffic all around the area which when using Champion Hill only took a minute to avoid Dulwich keeping traffic flowing if there was any. When I wrote to my Cllr on this I never got a reply. So do not think or expect they will go against the party line. Unfortunately come the local elections nothing will change. You are right 18 months trial and then another 18 months and the a TMO to push it through. It is a joke.

Thanks

Out of interest what do the red lines on the map mean? An answer would be appreciated.

Probably for those that have adopted a polar bear.

I am now on leave and will be returning Wednesday 27th October. I will have limited access to my emails during this time so if there is anything urgent please contact highways@southwark.gov.uk Query the TMO and this comes up. Would have thought if they give a name for the TMO's they would be there to answer any queries. Perhaps hoping you might just forget

Out of interest if this silly idea ever saw the light of day, do you have to buy another ticket for the shuttle bus and just how far would this bus run and through what streets. Will parking have to go to provide drop off and collection points. Career path. Think up a really silly idea , become a Cllr if it appeals to the eco crowd and then get promoted to a position of power, Leader, deputy leader or cabinet member for the silliest idea. The world is then your lobster Terry. (Arfur Daley, Minder)

I am surprised Cllr Ali said anything as she never replies to anything thing. Where we live we have a local shuttle bus called the P13 or has Cllr Ali forgotten, since it stopped running up Chadwick Road pass her house missing out stops that people always used for a route that goes nowhere near Rye Lane Why should we have timed closures, never have and not needed. Bellenden Village!!! is trying to turn its self into DV. Its becoming a joke. New Cllrs required.

Where do these % come from? This road should be re-opened to all. All this closure does is force other users to use local roads where Champion Hill stops this. From what I have read 63% of people who filled in the consultation wanted it reopened. Why can Southwark not listen

And if it's pissing down with rain do not not forget to take an umbrella while you are waiting for the bus and walking etc.

If you lived in a three flat victorian conversion or even a 2 up 2 down conversion would you really want this blocking up the entrance hall to 2 flats. Also if you are the landlord would you want this type of bike damaging the fabric of the building when it is stored and moved in and out. Like many ideas re bikes they are not thought through. Also how will it effect health and safety if Councils can remove pot plants because they block the exit way.

Who pays the cabbies wages if they are just sitting there? Thought they were self employed.

I live off Rye Lane and I can assure you there is no bus stop within 200m of my house. I suspect you are not a local resident. -

Rye Lane NEWSFLASH buses to return !

I thought Southwark had implemented quietways to address this problem? Also perhaps Southwark Council should take a look at this problem by using a financial trading rule. Reopen Rye lane as before, admit it was wrong to close and accept the first loss is always the cheapest loss. You are then able to look with a clean trading book and not trading of the back foot all the time with wrong positions. Unfortunately Southwark will never admit they are wrong. -
How about opening up Rye lane to the bus again. At least there will be transport available without having to walk miles to get to a bus stop. Why do you refer to the younger generation who are fit and able. Many of us are not and need the car.

With regard to monitoring strips on my morning walk I noticed strips on Champion Hill, Why? The council has blocked of the road. What are they up to? Ex Cllr Barber would you offer an explanation. -

Bring back the buses to the Lane, enforce common sense on pedestrians and cyclists and you can cure the problem. You will also revive Rye lane to an extent as people return to shop. It may annoy those people who treat it as party central regardless of the pandemic but it needs Southwark to act which will not happen.
