Well done star13uk, I am always annoyed at the broad brush painted on these people The term 'Traffic Warden' should quite rightly only be applied to those controlled by the Met, historically whose job it is to facillitate traffic flow, and only issue tickets as a last resort. (Yellow Perils) The rest are all mercenary buggers adding to the coffers of their paymasters

We Catholics currently tend to lead quiet existence at St Thomas Moore Church, minding our own business Little wonder that the parents should desire a place for their offspring at the nearest RC school We're an easy target, but if you're feeling really brave, why not have a crack at my Muslim/Sikh next door neighbours

police helicopter hovering around

PeckhamRose, I too have spoken informally to KCH staff who inform me that they are fast becoming a centre of excellence in the treatment of gunshot wounds, to rival those of BCH and Musgrave Park at the height of the troubles in NI At the same time impressive, yet deeply depressing -

The Oglander Brothers were one of the pool teams. Celebrated the first day of all day opening in there - er, all day as I recall

Crime detection in East Dulwich
Bellerophon replied to macroban's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Same here- PCSO called and left me the kit. You sign a statement showing that it is unique to you Now all my vauables are dabbed and a sticker on the front door declares as such to Billy Burglar I have even put a smigeon behind each ear, in case i am kidnapped -
Just looking round the old place and realise that: Bought my wardrobe and bedroom drawers from the shop where William Rose is. It was a kind of furniture / knick knack shop run by a big chap with blonde hair. Bought my living room mirror from Walsh's Glaziers which as mentioned, is now White Stuff Bathroom furnishings supplied by Bells of course Net curtains run up by the curtain shop on the corner which became an Estate Agent ? The mens outfitters was a bit 'suits you sir', but a chap could still get a pair of tan Farah slacks in there on a Friday afternoon The other shop that's been here forever is the Shoe Shop (Banhams ?) next to what was the 'Get Stuffed' Cafe Bengal Bicycle was once called 'Curry In A Hurry' This was all around 94, when I first settled in these parts. However, stand to be corrected

I think the entire forum community are biting their tongues here wanting to tell you what a dummyhead you are for HIDING your VALUABLES in a JALOPY. However, none of us want to see someones treasured possessions in the hands of Grimbleys, so empathy has won the day. Put it down to a hard lesson learned nancysmum -

Def worth a try > > Do you work there? Have been getting barnet cut there for last 10 years - Great banter, up to date local info & seriously good value. This place doesn't need publicising - Mr Roche knew that the lightbulb emporium was changing hands next door, so gave the shop a spruce up in anticipation. p.s. one of his chaps cuts the hair for the homeless over a week in december for nowt

As an aside, I purchased a 36 inch flat screen tv 2 years ago from this chap as an emergency purchase and the bloody thing is only still going strong - who knew ?

Which road to buy on (Court lane or Woodwarde? )

Apparently so as to appear the victim of a punishment style shooting, which improves their cred no end. However, they will change legs if observed for any length of time. The low slung - half mast - show everyone your pants mode of jean wearing is an affectation towards U.S. inmates in the 'Big House' having their belts taken away by the guards. What really hacks me off is the wearing of Rosary Beads as a fashion accessory (6)(6)

Yet another forumite who hasn't resided here long enough As a resident of 20yrs (Underhill & Goodrich) I can honestly say that this chaps vehicles do not cause any probs. As a matter of fact, IMHO they are a design classic _ worthy of a postcard

Good day to start your rant flipbrit A CO19 Firearms officer who was seriously injured whilst detaining aggrivated burglars, has had his life support machine switched off this afternoon. How does that rate on your efficiency meter ? I hope none of the injuries were to his neck as you advocate RIP PC Gary Toms - Brave man from a Force of brave men & women Moderated from the reply you were originally going to get in deference to the Administrator

Military helicopter landing in field behind Sainsburys
Bellerophon replied to EDmummy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It was an Agusta Westland AW101, commonly referred to in the RAF as a Merlin Its' normal use is as an anti-submarine warfare & medium-lift transport / utility helicopter (removes anorak) Looked as if it was reccying a suitable place to set down when I saw it from the lane The Hamlets pitch would have been big enough. Certainly not a regular occurance -
Daizie, You do Dennis (for that is his name) a dis-service. He has been in business for the 15 years that I have resided here, and then some. I have always found he and his 'regulars' a source of humour and a font of local history. Perhaps a return from your 2 year sojourn would benefit BTW - Happy Saint Patricks Day to all forumites. Off to the EDT with memories of the blacked out windows and old boys around the bar.

The war memorial at Dulwich Common
Bellerophon replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Flodden Road Barracks has had a major re-furb since Prof M R D Foots' day and is home to London Irish Regiment (TA) as well as attached Companies. Had the pleasure of drinks in the mess at High Wood in the early 90's All sorts of military paraphenalia behind the bar, including a missile, which, if memory serves, wasn't quite as deactivated as everyone thought ! 21 SAS ® (them !) also paraded out of there at this time. One of their number had been no less than a certain Sir Ranulph Fiennes -
You have to stop for an officer in uniform. Having done so however, there is absolutely no obligation to take part. A polite 'no ta' to the Census chappy should suffice

Just popped out of William Hills opp Iceland about 5.30 tonight with my winnings, to be confronted by an old lady having what appeared to be a serious nose bleed. Two chaps were assisting her and had confirmed that an ambulance had been called. There was a fair amount of blood on the pavement. A chair was provided by the staff at Winkworths Estate Agents, and the LAS arrived in next to no time. Just another vignette from life on the lane, but well done to the two gentlemen, and Winkworths.
