  1. Spot on I beleive this has been covered at length previously Just search SEG or Special Escort Group Its recce's, as the above poster alludes to......
  2. If we still had a Police Station , you could bring it down and plonk it on the counter in front of a wide eyed Desk Sergeant Or bring it in to Target Arms on Monday morning......oh wait, i forgot If it really is empty and inert, its probably worth a few sheets
  3. When you say found....... Did you dig it up , or was it above ground, in the shed for example ? If the former, I would inform the authorities. They will contact the Army EOD chaps, and you may face the prospect of your garden being re-landscaped for free It may be part of a war time cache Is the inside empty ? If not, step away and I refer you to the above advice If it is, its probably a relic souvenir Your call

Chinooks never appeared, just the Red Arrows, and HEMS (although I think they were otherwise engaged) Low cloud cover and defence cuts Was expecting the Battle of Britain Memorial Spit, Hurricane & Lanc, but no joy
  5. He's only gone and moved it.....

  9. If the Range Rover was a liveried Met vehicle, then it will have been the Special Escort Group (SEG) on a training run They whizz ahead and dominate the junctions with furious whistling and hand signals I think the idea is that the wheels of the principals vehicle do not stop rolling
  10. Adding this post to say the guys from the old shop & Post Office have been serving the community long before Sainsburys Local appeared. Its previous incumbent was a motor spares outlet Also curious as to why the feverish work on the former Le Moulin place has stalled...... As an aside to the building work abutting the shop in question..... In the middle of last year, i was picking up some dry cleaning from the chap on the other corner, whilst a very large Metropolitan Police vehicle appeared to be delivering re-conditioned bricks to the workmen on site at this place I didn't imagine it because passers by were stopping to look
  11. Nope, not at the time of filming. MP5 carbine standard issue. However, so much more wrong with that that pic On set Police advisor obviously not firearms Mr Nesbitt wouldn't have had to travel too far for that scene....... With this and 'The Misssing' , I imagine he will have to make some more room on his mantlepiece
  12. Not only am i lush, i am available.....

Cassie has been there for the last 18 years, and i remember her opening Used it to buy the County newspapers to send back to my parents most weeks Reminded me of many a village shop in Ireland when we used to spend the holidays over there Often waited patiently to be served as she chatted to one or two of her customers, as that's how i've been brought up It was a brilliant marketing ploy, as by the time it came to pay for the papers, I would have some black pudding, Emerald sweeties and a can of Cidona picked up as well - Genius ! Will miss it, as for so long it's been part of my routine
  14. Busted......well done forumites, and Sue in particular
  15. 'I wouldn't want to alienate or bore anyone to sleep. ' Congratulations, you have Going in for my Leitrem Observer & Tuam Herald tomorrow....

There's an early 1950s build block of 4 maisonettes there now, so that fits Also , the / a post box is still on the corner

What, exactly, > is your beef with the council this time? Probably should have narrowed my thanks down to Southwark Enviromental Services Online Help, but it doesn't quite sing Simple point was that as a shift worker coming home at the break of dawn, to find said fly tipping all over the pavement, and then, 3 hours later, to see it efficiently removed, I was delighted. Burbage, your no doubt, finely crafted, witty riposte goes right over my head. Just apportioning thanks where it's due.
  18. Sue - All four panels & roof. Should have taken a pic ! Pickle - agree entirely Jim The Chin - I concur covert cams installed
  19. What appeared to be an entire shed, and sundry other bits and pieces, dumped on Goodrich Road some time in the early hours of this morning. Reported on Southwark Councils' website, and less than 2 hours later, guys turned up to take it away. Outstanding service IMHO Just need to catch the feckers at it. CCTV being purchased this am from Maplins
  20. Just go, we'll be ok
  21. In an ideal world, the obvious soloution, it would seem to me, would run something like this - Vacate LL Police Station, which as we know, now only accommodates Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs), the front desk, and possibly the odd Burglary / Robbery Squad (Not entirely sure about the latter, but do see the odd covert 'blues & twos' flying out of there occasionally). Either way, they must have an office each ! Re-open the old Police Station, which until a few weeks ago, was a functioning Police building, and re-locate the whole shebang in there. I'm guessing it's still got the makings of a front desk, offices, computer access, and the necessary facilities. Being a much smaller building, the energy saving possibilities must be huge. There's a back yard for vehicles, it is still well located to serve the community (It was the pre-curser to LL, and is easily walkable fom the centre of ED) And if all that weren't enough, if ever a building said 'We are the Police' it's that one Sell LL Pol Stn for a tidy profit. What do i know, just the thoughts of a citizen who has lived here on and off for the past 20 yrs, and who remembers the horses fondly... I stand to be corrected on any of the above
  22. Housed the Met's Firearms Investigation Unit for the S.E. These have all been centralised now, at Empress State Building, near Earls Court Think it was home to the infamous South East Regional Crime Squad, at one stage The Met will be sure to sell it, along with all it's other fine old historical estate... Would make a very secure private residence

They are human beings behind the counter as well... and as for the phone thing - the height of rudeness. > be served.
