  1. Yes we're on Silvester road and ours is bad, it was yesterday too. Might be to do with works on Crystal Palace road?
  2. I'm not a total snoot I was quite excited about having an affordable shop and am pleased I can get cheap toothpaste! I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the overall stock though, a lot of the food is not actually that cheap and I agree the fresh stuff was an unhealthy disappointment for me. I will go to Peckham still for essentials and the excellent fruit & veg. Re: colouring books and other kids things, One below on rye lane is much better than Poundland, I was also disappointed at no kids stuff. What shop do you get you colouring books from in peckham as I need some thanks
  3. There used to be a playgroup called Magic moments at Bew court just past strip of shops top of lordship lane towards grove tavern. Sadly COVID shut it and I bumped into the owner in park over a year ago who still seemed as if they would reopen but there has been no news. It's was so lovely and reasonable cost you could drop off your little one for a couple of hours. I think maybe the council had been trying to claim back the hall or something as I don't see why it was shut. It was pretty old school like playgroup I went to when I was little but I kind of liked that! We definitely need more. . There is nothing like it around here as far as I can see. You need something local or by the time you've dropped off it's time to pick up!
  4. It's all over east D, it's been awful on and off sin ce the sorting office closed on Silvester road. I am so fed up with it and cross but also feel helpless and have given up even complaining as royal mail don't even admit to any wrong doing or claim to have sorted it then 3 weeks later it's awful again. Had a card yesterday my mum sent to encourage my daughter for her first day of school. That was sent 1st September! It's beyond a joke now and noone takes accountability. Even when I post things special delivery they are turning up damaged and days late so it can't just be East Dulwich, though I think we must be one of the worst affected. I wish something could be done about it.
  5. Thank you very much I will take a look
  6. My 4 year old daughter keeps asking me if she can do singing lessons because she enjoys singing so much (particularly fond of Thursday mornings at preschool because 'the lady with grey hair ' comes to sing songs with all the children. She enjoys the group aspect of everyone singing together as much as learning the songs and rhymes and instruments etc. Does anyone know of anything like this that isn't too advanced or too babyish? I would love her to get involved if so. Or anyone fancy starting something like it let me know!
  7. I'm afraid I don't but would also like to contribute kids/baby bits
  8. Hi there, I paint child portraits (amongst other things) and would love to take on more local commissions. I live in East Dulwich and some of my other work features lots of local places. Please do have a look at my website jessicakendrew.com and here is a recent one attached for you to see. Prices for original paintings start from ?75. Thanks so much! Jess
  9. In the slim hope that someone picked up our little girls dark brown dog teddy who wears a home made dress, please do let me know as he is very missed! We lost him somewhere between the new St Christopher's Hospice children's shop, lordship lane towards Silvester Road. Please see pics to familiarise yourself with this special friend. If anyone has read Dogger by Shirley Hughes, well this is our version of it, I think Basil might have been picked up and purchased in the shop after we left but you never know! Please message me if found.
  10. Thanks Annie, I do actually, I've got a few other shops, most of the local pubs, some of the parks and a street scene too, though it saddens me we won't have Franklins Farm shop to enjoy anymore, at least it is immortalised here from a distance! Any more suggestions of loved places do let me know. Here's a couple more determine screen size
  11. Thankyou so very much, I must paint more shops and I don't doubt the other DIY shops are good, I'm just partial to this sort of stlye and always have been, a family holiday growing up wasn't complete without a trip around independent hardware shop that stocked everything under the sun and I've not once come out of here without what I went in for!
  12. We've got so many amazing local independent businesses in East Dulwich and I just wanted to sing my praises to Dulwich DIY who have bailed me out on numerous occasions. I've always had a soft spot for hardware shops such as DD, they really do have just about everything. Foxes digging up my window boxes? No problem, scoot to the rescue. Run out of battery powered tea lights on Christmas eve? Don't fret they've got your back... Lock on the bathroom door bust? I could go on :D This is not an advert for them for any that might suspect, I'm just a Dulwich DIY lover who wanted to share the joy with a painting that I thought some locals might enjoy. upload images
  13. I'm so used to planning days out around pubs, it's been hammered into my brain since a child, my dad should do a map of England based on pubs and brewery's. To be honest it's probably why I decided to paint all of the East Dulwich ones! So looking forward to feeling properly relaxed in them again, or anywhere for that matter.
  14. It's just a painting I did and thought locals might enjoy it, I am no way affiliated with William Rose though I do love their sausages. Their queue always amazes me and it's especially long and winding at the moment. The cheese block would be a great one to do too!
  15. Just to bring some festive cheer, it's that time of year again, hope you're queuing already for your Christmas dinner!
