  1. Ok... this isnt quite East Dulwich but much of the surrounding locale is covered...As Im from East Dulwich here's a bit of shameless self publicity for my new book London?s Lost Rivers (Random House Books), which will be of interest to people in East Dulwich as it contains a chapter on the River Effra (Upper Norwood to Vauxhall via Belair Park) and Earl's Sluice (Ruskin Park to Rotherhithe) plus the Grand Surrey Canal in (Peckham & Camberwell) . Overall the "lost" waterways in the book covers the history & routes of 22 rivers,8 canals & 8 docks with maps & over 100 modern day photos.A sample chapter can be found on www.londonslostrivers.com The book covers many other SE London such as the Surrey Commercial Docks, the Rotherhithe Mill Streams, River Peck, River Neckinger, Croydon Canal & Deptford Dockyard. To promote the book Im giving a few guided walks including: Sat 28 May ? Grand Surrey Canal Guided Walk (from Peckham to Rotherhithe). see the website if interested. Cheers Paul Talling
  2. Ive eaten at The Mirash on numerous occasions and never been let down. I havent tried any other ED curry houses yet as Ive stuck to the one I know - loyalty and all that esp as ive never had any complaints. Its certainly a cut above some of those down Brick Lane. The vegetable dansak and tandoori trout dishes are my favourite. Paul Talling www.derelictlondon.com
  3. The concrete house is surely beyond repair. I took the attached pics last year when writing a book on derelict buildings. I went back there recently to film a documentary for the London Programme but the building is now totally inaccessable.Essential structural works have been carried out by the council only to stop the building falling into the road. The owner's whereabouts are unknown and the council has put a charging order on the land registry deeds in order to reclaim repair costs should the owner resurface & attempt to sell the land. Sorry for the plug but more pics & info can be seen at www.derelictlondon.com/id1535.htm or in the Derelict London book available via Amazon. Other local topics of interest in the book inc. Friern School, Sydenham Hill Woods & Crystal Palace ruins. Regards Paul Talling
