  1. Just got alerted by an neighbour that there are two threads about this guys on here so just posting on both… Unfortunately I just had a bad experience with this guy this morning. I’ve seen him loads over the years up near where we live on Lordship Lane. We we have not engaged with him on our many encounters when he behaves as have been described here already. I have a teenage son and he knows to be mindful as well, ignoring him, crossing the road if he sees him. I walked past him today when he was standing in someone’s front garden on Lordship Lane, spitting and talking to himself, aggressive homophobic language. I ignored him and walked with my dog towards the library. Suddenly outside the church I was knocked from behind with great force, into the church railings. I’m in a lot of pain, neck, back and head and was quite shocked. He did the same further down the road to a teenage boy in a Harris Academy uniform. I saw him carrying on to The Plough bus stop where he also did a less forceful knock into an elderly gentleman. He then got on the 185 towards Camberwell. I’ve reported it to the police as this is the first time he’s been physically violent. It’s obvious that he has serious mental health problems. He’s also a lot bigger and stronger than he used to be and could have caused us serious injuries.

  3. Unfortunately our lovely dog groomer has some health problems and can't groom our dog anymore. Can anyone recommend a dog groomer who is used to dealing with large furry dogs? Keen for someone who won't just get the clippers out and good at communicating with us as owners i.e. wishes vs needs. We're not difficult...promise. Much appreciated.

  5. Found an empty, white AirPods type case on the football fields in Dulwich park. PM me if it?s yours!
  6. I know it's just a hat but it was a gift to cheer me up last year during a stressful time and I love it! Lost on a dog walk last week between Friern Road and One Tree Hill. I have retraced my steps but no luck :-( It's bright red (orange/red)and has a black label on the inside, Danish brand, bought at ED's Would love to have it back....but a long shot, I know.
  7. A card has arrived at our address for a Fiona Bundy, not known to us. Please DM me if you know her so I can make sure she gets her post! Thanks
  8. We received the first letter promising more info and how to sign up but got nothing. Our brown bin is still being collected so it fell off our radar completely! How do we sign up and pay? Southwark Council website? Thanks
  9. Hi sweetgirl I can see you've already had loads of advice :-) I just wanted to say that I bought a cream recently for dry skin/eczema that I developed around my eyes randomly. It was really getting me down. I've never had eczema before but the skin was red, almost inflamed, itchy and uncomfortable so I had a desperate search online. It's called Exeskin and I've included the link below (I bought it on Amazon). It?s absolutely amazing and the dry skin has completely gone! Bought some for my mum for Xmas as well as she?s got psoriasis. https://www.ultrabeehealth.co.uk/100-natural-exeskin-balm-for-dry-irritable-skin Might be worth checking out? It does smell a bit funky and has a similar consistency to Vaseline but I've had incredible results and wanted to share it with you.
  10. Hi Lucyalexandra My son has been to many laser quest parties with his East Dulwich mates over the years. They have all been at this place in Bromley....I don't know details or cost but know that food is included and the kids love it! Parents usually club together to drop off/pick up. http://www.quasarelitebromley.com/asp/home.asp
  11. If anyone has found a brand new black/yellow football kit with black socks, please PM me. Lost in Dulwich Park or on route Court Lane/Eynella Road. Thanks you.
  12. Hi Ole My son has been to plenty of laser quest parties here www.quasarelitebromley.com with his ED friends!
  13. Hi Jerryc My son is also loving Charter ED :-) Did you get the email about Yr 8 transport buddies? There were a variety of bus stops and times to link up and travel together but I'm not sure if it was just for the first week. No mini bus service this year as far as I know. My son takes the 12 or 343 bus. We live near Barry Road, so easy for him to catch the 12. He only really takes the 343 if friends are. What about taking the 484 from ED station (or walk?) to East Dulwich Road/Peckham Rye junction then walk left around the corner to catch the 343 or 12. Plenty of Charter ED students on those busses there and back. Some students take the 176 to Camberwell Green and walk from there but it's a slightly longer walk than from the 12 bus stop on Peckham Road. I know someone who has a girl at the school in Yr 8 and they live on the Dog Kennel Hill estate. I will check what route she takes. I hope you find a route you're all comfortable with!
  14. That is so brilliant, well done guys! I love seeing those parrots around - they're in Dulwich Park too and our garden! :-)
  15. My son has been attending the Gumboots Summer play scheme since he started reception - he is now year 6! He has always attended the long days due to my work and always been happy there. Dave who runs it is lovely. I think they have a good balance between planned activities, outings and free play. I would recommend it and not sure what I would have done without it! Planning for new summer adventures now though - end of an era.
  16. The very first time my child needed a filling, my dentist spotted it as discolouration i.e. likely a cavity that can't be seen on the surface of the tooth. He referred him to King's and it turned out he wasn't really what I would call a 'family dentist' so we left of course and are now with Smiles on North Cross Road. Consider changing your dentist or you will end up having to go to King's for things other dentists happily deal with in their own practice. We have only had to go to King's since with some issues around teeth taking a long time to come out needing to be checked out and x-rayed. I thought the King's dental institute was brilliant, short waiting time and amazing staff.
  17. If anyone know a Zoe Burgis please PM me. Post from Singapore - address clearly wrong but it looks like a present (envelope damaged) so would be a shame if it didn't reach Zoe. Thanks
  18. Not sure if this is the right place for this query and it's probably a NO but promised to ask on behalf of a very excited Kiwi :-) Any pubs in our area showing the cricket world cup this weekend? Probably not as it's on stupid hours like 4am or something I've been told....NZ vs Oz! Thanks!

  20. Oh and just to say - certainly in the multi-sports, there is always a mixture of ages, boys and girls! The day is also longer than at JAGS which is helpful for juggling work!! PM me if you get stuck on the website - I do have a phone number for one of the guys that run it.
  21. Hi, They do multi-sports Academy as well as football Camp in half term. Here's the link to book online: http://www.dhfitc.org.uk/site/NonSecure/index.aspx My son has always had fun there doing multi-sports and football - it is cheaper than JAGS football (though he loves that too!).
  22. Oh Snowboarder - I know exactly what you are going through. My son was the same but is now at 8 years old finally much better - I never thought we would get to this point. I grew up with animals and loved them - I could never understand why he was scared of animals and especially dogs. Come think of it, he never really liked animal stuffed toys. Anyway he has always been absolutely terrified of dogs, just as you describe your son. I also found it very unhelpful when dog owners would say 'he won't bite, he's a friendly dog'.....I know they meant well but it meant nothing to my son. Actually the worst would be a friendly, happy dog pouncing over wanting to say hello, even the small ones, even puppies. Seeing my sweet, sociable, happy boy being so scared has been heartbreaking and stressful. A lot of people we know back home, family and friends have dogs and I did feel it got quite difficult to visit people unless their dogs were locked in another room. He even used to ask me about his and especially new friends (before play dates)if they had pets. At one point I considered checking for some kind of doggy fear therapy as it was really affecting him. Anyway the turning point for us (similar to lenster's post).....was visiting friends back home with 3 kids and a very calm, gentle medium size dog (who just ignored him but was happy to go for a walk in the garden on the lead). The first time he held the lead and stroked the dog I nearly cried! He also went for a playdate with a friend from school who again has a very calm dog who will largely ignore guests except a gentle welcome when you arrive. The dad knew my son was scared, so he spent the afternoon gently encouraging contact between my son and their dog i.e. sitting in the garden and even helping him giving her a wash. When I came to pick him up he was in the garden with the dog playing fetch and even being able to remove the ball gently from the dog's mouth! I couldn't believe my eyes! I was always so worried that a dog would come running towards my son outside and he would run into the road to get away, not thinking and get run over by a car! I don't think we will ever get a dog so that was not my main aim in trying to get him over his fear (though he is now obsessed with sausage dogs and claims he really wants one)....however things are so much easier. He is still cautious about dogs but that's not a bad thing - the overall change is just unbelievable! I hope as your son gets older, he will overcome his fears.....do think about a gentle, calm, (old maybe?) dog he can spend some time with - not sure where you find one of those but my fingers are crossed for you. Good luck!
