  1. Thanks everyone! So many useful messages! Au' Lait - loving the picture you paint of your son and husband and useful info re the Strider and tight turning circle. Otta - You're so right about the Early Rider looking cool! Nunhead Mum - Thanks for reminding me of Decathalon. I think I need to go and try out a few and go from there. Thanks for the useful feedback!
  2. Thanks boncara - will check it out.
  3. My son is nearly 23 months. What balance bike do you recommend? Likeabike, Puky, Isla or something else? I'd like a light one that is easy to step through / out of. A mate recommended a balance bike her boys uses with very fat / flat wheels. She got hers from ToysRus but they dont seem to do the same one.. Anyone seen something like this? Wheels were a bit like this but bike not battery powered: http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Bikes-and-Rideons/Battery-Powered/The-Amazing-SpiderMan-6V-Motorbike(0092234)?searchPosition=4 Thanks in advance,
  4. With an unexpected day off work I can spend it with my favourite little man. Any suggestions for toddler play groups this morning? Thanks in advance

Good idea NorthLondoner! DulwichGirl2 - useful info re the first ?90! I think I'm ditching the idea of selling and now researching my options in staying put. Mon-Fri let, foreign students and short lets all look like good options. Thanks everyone!

Thanks so much everyone for all your food for thought. Moving is sooo expensive, yet owning a property nearly outright is appealing, but the idea of downsizing is not. Living in ex council is also not appealing.. Maybe I've got too used to living in an Edwardian property in a tree lined Crescent.. Seems most support the idea of renting out to someone.. I've toyed with the idea of Monday to Friday as that would be ideal. I think i'll post an ad and see what comes back... Also like the idea of au pair / nanny - I'd not thought of that so thanks WofD. Penguin68 - Thanks! useful info.

Thanks lane lover and bunny19. Sadly my budget is not that healthy.. However, I have just had my place valued and the estate agent quoted the same price as to what I was quoted when the housing market was booming! But I do need to speak to my mortgage advisor as I'm not working full time any more, but do have fairly `healthy equity in my property. So thought if I moved somewhere nearish - brockley, sydenham, honar oak - i'd still benefit from living in London (I still need to go to work) and be able to rent out the smaller property to pay mortgage on the 2 bed... In theory! I'll put feelers out to mates to see about renting the room - good idea! I just had concerns as I've got a baby... Would anyone really want to live with a baby (that's not theirs)?

Would you rent out a room (as a single parent) or sell up and move somewhere smaller / elsewhere / with a much smaller mortgage and have the place to yourself? Or, if possible.. buy a small one bed to rent, then a small 2 bed to live in with baby. Thoughts..
  9. Your story made me laugh! Well done you! She needed to be told. x
  10. Saila, I so feel for you. I had the Brierly Midwives and had a great experience. I had planned a homebirth, but ended up at Kings. I was scared as I had heard so many horror stories from my friends but my midwife stayed with me and ensured I was supported and my birthplan was adhered to (mostly). It felt good to have continuous support, someone with me who understood exactly where I was at and what I wanted and could communicate it to the staff at Kings. I accessed the Brierly via the DMC Dr's surgery. Good luck. xxx
  11. hallo, My car has sadly been written off by some moron whilst parked on my road. I now have to replace it urgently! My budget is limited but I need ideas. I need a 5 door car, with reasonable boot space for pushchair / shopping etc. 1.4-1.6, so not too meaty. Dont want a complete banger! Only have ?2K! Ideas welcomed. Thanks, x
  12. My LO has goats milk and has enjoyed it for months now. It is pricey but worth it. He also has and enjoys soya yogurts. It's great to learn about sardines and oat milk. Shaunag - Is the Oatly oat milk ok for babies? Which one do you use for your LO? Also good to know about the liquid calcium.
  13. Thanks so much everyone. This is really wonderful feedback and I'll pass on all the info. nubby's mums - They are due in August, so a little way off yet, but I'll pass on your details and I'm sure they will PM you. Once again, thanks so much.xxx
  14. Strawbs - you star! That's really helpful, I'll pass on the info about Becky. x
  15. Hi Fuschia, thanks for your reply. I've just googled the twins club - is this what you're talking about? http://ddtwinsclub.org/new/ My friends aren't expecting twins but it's good to know there is something they could access.
  16. I have 2 good friends who are expecting thier first baby and would like to attend an NCT group but are concerned they may not receive a positive response from the others in the group. Has anyone heard of NCT groups for same sex parents? Or has attended an NCT group with same sex parents? Or some sort of support network for same sex parents? My own expeience of NCT groups is very positive but I'm not in thier shoes. Feel free to PM me if you prefer. Thanks in advance.
  17. Oh Chemicaltrip, this is interesting! I'm liking the Neighbourhood watch crew! We didn't call the police and didn't see them either as had gone back to bed after the excitement of our late night caller. I wonder if he / they came to you after me.. It's weird that he just gave up his wrists to the police - at least he went quietly. All very weird.
  18. Thanks guys, I suspect you may be right. At least no one else has had the same experience.
  19. I had a weird experience last night... At 4am my doorbell was rung in an urgent and impatient manner - the doorbell for the flat upstairs was rung (although we didn't realise until my partner went to the front door at the same time as the guy from upstairs came down to see what was going on). A man (we didn't open the main front door) was talking in a raised voice "Oi Geezer, let me in!" My partner asked who it is and he replied "It's Torrent! C'mon, let me in!". This man got quite cross when we didn't let him in and my partner told him that no one of that name lived here. We live on Tintagel Crescent and pretty much the entire street are young families or the few folk who have been here for decades. It seems unlikely that the demographic on my road would be pals with someone who would bang the door at 4am in a slightly threatening manner. So, my questions are... Has anyone had this kind of experience? Does anyone know Torrent? This guy was with someone else and they both walked off towards Elsie Road at 4am. Maybe I'm suspicious but it all smells a bit funny to me.
  20. I live on Tintagel and have not been consulted about option 5. I still dont see a link to the consultation results. You guys may have already seen it and looked but I'd be really grateful if you can re post it. 21. Good request! Please can some one post. fazer71 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Can someone post a link to the consultation > results pls...?
  22. I live on Tintagel and would like to know where I can find the detailed numbers from the consultation. Can anyone advise or send a link?
  23. I live on Tintagel Crescent and I'm against the CPZ scheme. My neighbours that I've spoken to are also against the scheme. I'm wondering if there is anyone on Tintagel or Elsie Road who supports this scheme?
  24. Thanks Minder for the alternative goats milk option. I dont think it's SMA just the milk that is in the product. Fuschia - I went to the GP asking to be refereed to a dietitian. There are dairy intolerance's and eczema in my family. He reckoned my diagnosis was correct and to make an informed choice about the milk after researching options. After reading what i've just written I think I will go back and ask to be referred again. I'll see a different Dr instead will hopefully get a referral without too much hassle. My son is just over 5 months old. Thanks x
  25. Whilst breast feeding I noticed my sons skin improved (he had bad cradle cap / borderline eczema) when I cut out dairy and wheat from my diet. When I introduced formula - as a dream feed - I gave him goats milk. However, I soon realised he hated the goats milk when we moved on to formula for all of his feeds so we switched to SMA which he enjoys. Now his skin is getting worse and the eczema is flaring up on his body. I've visited the Dr who said I should investigate soya / goat milk alternatives. Has anyone had a similar experience? Has anyone found another goats milk other than Nanny? Has anyone used soya milk and found their LO responded well to it? Thanks in advance.
