". To clarify further, I mean people like the Judges etc. who pass out extremely lenient sentences to paedoes, child abusers and people who cause harm to children, they barely get a smack on the wrist, that is abuse in any way shape or form.
-
You misunderstood, my comments were not directed at Sean personally, I did not say he was too sympathetic, what I meant was and probably could have gotten across better was the fact that "the system" be it judicial, local council, social services or whatever seem to have more sympathy with abusers than the victims, and make excuses for them, and they don't seem to be doing much. I was agreeing with Casius's post.

Casius I completely agree with you. I am sorry but being abused as a child does not make it even slightly inevitable, or understandable to then go on and become abusers yourself, it makes it even worse as you know how it feels to be filled with terror and fear and you would know how that would effect your child, there is just waaaaaayyy too much sympathy for the perpetrators nowadays. I know people who have been abused in childhood yet swear they would cut their own wrists/throats if they ever thought to inflict that on another human being, and get real p'd off with the well he/she was abused as a kid excuse, so that why he/she did it.

I mean I despair at the section of our society who behave like this, I didn't mean to generalise, but I do have to say, the other people involved who must have been aware of what was going on, neighbours, family, friends etc. are guilty aswell for not speaking up or failing to report visible signs of these children being seriously abused or neglected, so to me the burden of guilt lies on their heads as well. Yet these attacks are increasing, and people are getting away with it, something is very wrong somewhere!

I'm sorry, I know that this forum is for lighthearted and happy go lucky threads, well mostly, I don't know about you but I am getting increasingly extremely traumatised by what these supposed human beings are doing to their babies, so traumatised I can no longer even bring myself to read the articles properly without sinking into the depths of despair, even animals don't treat their babies like that, the story today about little baby P just had me weeping, the story the other week about that animal snapping the baby's spine had me sinking into a pit of despair, my god, I am against capital punishment but I have to say, for these kind of incredible acts of attrocious barbarism, cruelty and severe neglect, my heart is swaying. Can't say how much this makes me despair at mankind, I'm sorry I just couldn't keep this to myself. And as for those cretins who are supposed to be in charge of keeping them safe, well they need to be locked up and the key thrown away, makes my blood boil.

Natwest passing on the full 1.5% interest rate reduction to all customers on variable and variable related mortgages, well that was their recorded message when I phoned tonight.

Mind you, all this hasn't damaged Brand's reputation too much, his concert at the Brixton Academy on 10th Feb is sold out, and nearly sold out for the 11th, not that I'd go see him though I was hunting for Prodigy tickets for 17th April for London Arena, then discovered Brixton had two dates for the Prodigy, completely sold out, London Arena have seated only and sold out on standing tickets,(somewhere at the top of the arena where you will prob not see much and down in the crowd is where I wana be dancing away), when the hell did they go on sale? its so unfair! standing tickets selling on ebay for ?70 upwards, groan!!!!! :'(

I'll second that Jah! But whether or not the mortgage lenders are going to pass on the interest cut to the average customer (non-tracker) is another thing, I'm due for renewal of my deal and almost signed up for a 3 year fixed rate at 5.6% just so that I knew exactly what was going to be going out of my account for the next few years, and so I could budget, but decided to hold off, (my current deal (discounted repayment mortgage )ends the end of December and the bank (in hindsight quite slyly) phoned me up to offer me all manner of deals and tried to encourage me to sign up early by saying they expected the interest rates to be going up and in this current financial climate blah, blah, blah, so that all could be in place when my current deal ends, glad I waited now, (don't like pushy salespeople), and can hopefully benefit from this drop in interest. BTW (how on earth can banks justify setting up fees of ?999 charge for setting up a new deal within a current mortgage I already have with them? It's not a new mortgage, and they are not borrowing me any 'new' money?)

Got the following in our offices, just thought I'd do the deed and pass it on X "Can you circulate this around especially as Christmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam: A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service)suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed ?15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at www.icstis.org.uk

Have to say, my eyes were moist, history in the making, although Obama is in fact half white as well, a lot of the tv this morning were all about "America's first black President", he is America's first President of colour and explaining the significance of that to my 9 year old nephew this morning was quite moving, did it alongside the Martin Luther King "I have a dream" explanation.

>:D< Although feeling more like a vegetable this morning, hangover etc.

Mockney, that was absolutely hilarious and so true, thanks for that, does the guy actually ever draw breath though, had me in stitches! I did like the Prince of Persia games too. Guess I'm more of a pick and mix kind of gamer than just purely an RPGer

To be honest, I was going to try and pretend to be male on this forum, but couldn't carry it off! ha! I was a bit concerned about revealing too much as someone on this forum said to be careful about what people disclose of themselves in relation to personal information, I'm not for one moment saying that anyone on here is capable of being a stalker and recognising you in the street from your description on an internet chat forum! but caution isn't a bad thing sometimes, whilst of course at the same time having fun and making new friends.

Waiting for the release of Call of Duty 5 on Xbox 360 to come out in November, way hay! not my usual genre of game, but I thought it was quite realistic and the graphics were excellent on the others, (mind you did enjoy the graphics of Assasin Creed) I'm more of an Eternal Sonata girl myself and RPG gamer, sad, I know, I need a life. Just discovered this one, didn't see him before, >:D< arn't they great!

Well, lets just hope that the bus driver's daughter/niece never finds herself in that position, and I hope that she got home safely, tw@t!! -
Peckham rye station last night
microbite replied to MrsClive3300's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Don't get me wrong, for obvious reasons I would not get involved if I thought my life would be threatened, or I was in danger of being attacked (I too am a ladybite), but it would not stop me from going around the corner and calling the Police out if a member of the public was being attacked, it just would not sit very well with my conscience, that could be my daughter/son/family member being attacked. -

Unbelievable. I was on the train on the way to work this week, a large bunch of hooray henry teenagers got on the train and were being quite obnoxious and disruptive (as teens can be) loud and quite frequently using bad langauage, no-one paid them any attention, there was no raising of eyebrows and even some passengers chuckled at quite a lot of what was being said, the usual things boys speak about when enmasse, a few days later the scenario was repeated but this time a smaller group of lesser privilleged I shall say to keep from argument, teens got on, and while they were quite loud at times, the noise was quite contained and they hushed eachother up (rarely seen I know) to stop upsetting the other passengers, there were nothing but contempt filled scathing looks directed at them, tuts and raised eyebrows, there was none of the "well we were young once" mentality going on, and I found myself wondering about it all, this has no bearing on what the original post was and was merely an observation of some members of society today. -
Wow, hi guyz, nice to know I've caused such a stir on my first posting! no relationship to marcroban at all, but thanks for the energetic welcome. I've been trawling for a few days and hadn't really intended on signing on to the site, but thought, what the heck, seemed like a nice varied bunch of people and some very lively debates, will be adding my tuppence worth when and where appropriate, ha.

I know the passport office issue same day emergency passports, but they do cost an awful lot and I am afraid I doubt they will get them in time for the early morning flight, they also involve a lot of running around gathering identification, I had to run around like a nutter when I suddenly realised, two days before my son was due to fly out, his passport had expired. No chance they were covered by insurance is there? perhaps they could rebook for another week? How awful and what an awful start to someone's holidays, they must be heartbroken. I think you may find the airport to be quite sympathetic, I hope they are and that they don't have too much trouble getting their luggage back, what a nightmare.

Hello, I have just joined and thought I'd formally introduce myself as opposed to just jumping in on someone's conversation, thought it would be rude. If there is a new joiner's thread already then apologies I did go back a few pages but couldn't find one. :-$
