Who was the first golfer to create the term "Caddy"?
-
We had water, torrent, avalanche, paper, scissors, rock, rack, metal, boulder, (unless my brother cheated and made them all up, he always whupped us!) sorry can't remember the rest!
-
Is it the hand battling thingy, but I don't know the actual name of it, you battle by saying paper, stone, water etc. I know there is an avalanche in there somewhere
-
Me! Ouch! (but I did a really good recovery bounce and hoped that no-one saw, alas, I was spotted by giggling guy who said, I won't say anything if you don't!) Was funny though, I did kind of pop up real fast as if it never happened and thought I'd gotten away with it.

See you there Paragon! way hay! Have an ex rugby player in the family who used to play for England, only had one cap though!

Have to say I couldn't fault the trains this morning and agree with Agnes, in fact, for the first time in months I actually got a seat going and coming back!

lousia honey, take a chill pill and go play snow angels in the snow, might cool you down a bit. I was up at 7 with the kids, running around outside making snowmen and snow angels, had a brilliant snowball fight with all the neighbours opposite! No school, no work, one (possibly 2)days off at most, love it!!!!

Sorry too many glasses of the bubbly stuff! well cheap wine actually ;-) Don't worry for those who are wondering what the thread was, you missed nothing exiting, I promise you, just a seriously dull thread that I wished I hadn't started in the first place and now don't know how to remove! ha! go on, admit it, you've all done one at some point!

My cup runneth over! Getting really excellent wages for doing a really cushy, real easy, stress free job, (no I'm not on the game!) and have been told by bosses the firm and my job are as safe as houses! (though did turn down promotion and training for higher more involved position as don't want to be working full time at mo or spending late nights working at the office, or finishing off the training for it just yet, I actually want a life!) My mortgage repayments are half of what most people pay for their rent, and the house is mine completely in -4 years and counting! Not even "old" yet! Booked and paid for a holiday last year for this year at a cost of ?900 to find out same holiday is now selling for ?1,600 Have not and never will possess a credit card, if I haven't got the money to buy it, I go without, has always been my motto. Yup life is looking ok at the mo. Yeah forgot about that one last year, got a wicked bonus just before xmas and a ?3k payrise (mind you I bet they are kicking themselves now!) Doubt we'll be so lucky this year tho!

. (Post removed due to my probably just wanting to create an unnecessary reaction, the precluding posts say it all!!!) -
Sorry, its actually me who is talking Bo***cks, I have just called and apparently I have a special arrangement set up (not by choice or request on my part though) so I am requesting that it get changed back again to ten monthly payments, so looks like even though it does even out in the end financially, I am not going to benefit from a break in Feb or March, which is a pity, sorry if I've alarmed you all X :-$

Would be interesting to know what you manage to find out, then I can get on my council's case and whinge, not that it will do much good!
-
As I said, I'm not sure for your area, maybe you are one of the lucky areas
-
Don't want to burst your bubble and hopefully this won't apply to you but I think what the Council have done in trying to slip in the huge increase in charges, this year they have averaged the payment out over 12 months as opposed to 10, so it appears as though the increase has not been that huge, but of course in fact it is as we are now paying 12 months council tax as opposed to 10.

Erm...am surprised that everyone chose to just completely ignore that "slightly" racist remark in favour of Dulwichmum's ability to work! Depends on what you mean by "traditional" Louisa? There are other shops apart from what you refer to as "wigs, bush meat and pound shops", there is a huge Morrisons, but probably waaaay to scary for you, there is a huge Primarks, and there are tons and tons of clothing shops along with WHSmiths, sports shops, Dixons, or are they not "traditional" enough for you? Jeez! -

I think when all the big shops started closing down and moving enmasse, a lot of people left the area, of all colours, but I feel the local council and government didn't put half the work into the place as they did before and just abandoned it, the parks all had keepers, and there were activities for everyone, the streets were cleaner, there were more recreational grounds around but these have all been pulled down now to make way for cheaper affordable housing, (i.e. the "Yellow Brick" estate), I just feel as though the government earmarked the area (especially the North Peckham and Sumner Estates) to create crammed, cheap to build and badly erected housing estates for the poorer and not so well to do people of society, (of every colour) and basically left everyone to their own devices and didn't bother putting in any time or effort to try and create pride within the community and made no effort to maintain the area. -
Every Christmas for the last few years when I buy fresh nuts, I never buy a nutcracker as at the time I am always convinced (yes, every year I am afraid!) that I have one at home, get home, its Boxing Day, no nutcracker, nuts go mouldy or they get broken by placing them near the hinge of the living room door and squashed! But I am proud to say, I went to the 99p shop in Camberwell (absolutely fantastic loads of huge name branded groceries and everything for guess what,99p!) and bought one and have happily munched through the whole bag to date!

I actually blame Del boy and Rodney Trotter of Fools and Horses! >:D< Although on a serious note, as the huge rapid transit/ retail parks in Old Kent Road did'nt really appear until 15-20 years after the shops in Peckham Rye Lane closed down, (Jumbos up on Peckham High Street near North Peckham Estate I remember their huge boxes of broken bickies well!!!) I don't feel it was so much pressure from bigger stores that closed them down as much as I had the feeling that Peckham had just been abandoned. -
