  1. Thanks - I think it's the fact that I'm deliberately putting him in that position rather than him doing it himself which really disturbs me (He's a bit of a bruiser and more interested in sitting and standing than any of this rolling business!).
  2. ..ok so we have a tiny baby-sized break through in ongoing sleep saga. Problem - it involves putting baby snowboarder to sleep on his tummy. It got to the stage that I can get him back to sleep after multiple wakes, but as soon as put down in cot he would wake. After about 15 tries one night I put him on his tummy in desperation, and he stayed there and slept for 3 hrs. I know about all the risks. I'm in a horrid dilemma between needing sleep for him as much as myself and thinking he might die and it will be my fault. Hes 7 months old....but can't roll back by himself. SO - does anyone know when all these awful risks of SIDS reduce? Is there an age bracket? He's in a grobag so no blanket worries. Am I doing a terrible thing? Worry..worry..

  4. Anyone just fancy going out for a glass of wine? I'm not really very glamourous..or naughty..and I have a very limited time slot in between husband getting home and baby waking (actually baby usually wakes first!)..xx

  6. "Naughty treats" - !! Gosh... Kind of sounds fun but I don't really like the name...naughty mummy...hmmm (edited for bad spelling..)
  7. Umm - I have elderberry cordial - or is that not the same??!? Would love to try homemade! Vicks on feet tonight. Hate the firework banging though - grr if he wakes up.... Ah - edited to say it is elderflower cordial...so not the same!
  8. Feet?!! Will try but not tonight! Thanks all.
  9. Huh. Sounds great - no snot and sleep. Need it myself, actually...
  10. HOW have I been coping without you all!! Baby snowboarder has had a horrid cold for the last couple of days - this morning is totally blocked up, hacking cough, streaming nose and puffy eyes! Question is - when do you decide it's a doctor-worthy cold? And what would they do anyway? I have saline spray (hates it!) vicks (likes it!) and calpol (YUM).... Oh - I have it too:-( Perversely had the best night in about 4 months with wakes at 1.30 and 5am ONLY!
  11. Hmm it sounds like life with evil monster children does not get any easier!!! Karen - I'm told the only way to stop all night eating it is to refuse to feed them and they eventually get the message. And no cry dr sears says crying is ok as long as you cuddle them (I think!). Easier said than done eh? We're doing at least 2 feeds amongst other song and dance routines....and guess what it seems what baby eats during the day has little or no effect on night time waking/feeding. Is that what everyone was trying to tell me? Pickle - sounds hellish....every half hour..oh my god!
  12. Hmm currently full of cold and covered in mango (supper!).... Sleep still bad but feeding better - seems to have taken to solids/blw combo.... How are the other night time party babies?
  13. Hello! How is everyone?
  14. Bye bye family room. I hope to report back on long lovely nights sleep and successful weaning in 2 weeks! Has everyone gone already? x
  15. Will call.. He didn't really have much to actually eat yesterday - more just lots of tastes. It's hard to get a balance isn't it? I bf before solids though. Onwards!
  16. How do we meet via facebook?

  18. Well - I'm not sure how much actually went down - for example the pasta was just sucked (and OH GOD I then ate it to be tidy!). So in reality a bit of porridge, suck of toast, suck of pasta, some pureed tomato, suck of scotch pancake (which he LOVED!) and small taste of yoghurt. Bet he's up all night with tummy upset now! Nappies already disgusting and too frequent. Might retry the paper liners....
  19. Not bad! Porridge and toast for breakfast, 3 giant pasta twirls and tomato sauce, with extra sauce and courgette fingers on the side for lunch, and scotch pancakes, ellas fruit puree and yoghurt for supper. And milk. Blimey if he doesn't sleep now I give in. Kitchen is destroyed after all this though. And I am exhausted!
  20. Re sleep - it is amazing though what you get used to!! Re Milky midnight snacks - that's actually SO fine if that's all the night wakes are! Re BLW - Yep BellendenBear I was a bit concerned that BLW was a bit the 'latest thing' and I know am quite susceptible to getting all enthusiastic about fashionable or right on ideas...but it DOES make sense in theory to me - however am going to try to get more food into my baby to see if this can help sleep - for me as much as him! Note - the pumpkin, squash and mango mush did not go down well this evening.....porridge tomorrow.
  21. Hello - it's all fine - all I wanted was peoples views on whether filling up a baby with food would help sleep, really, therefore need for puree, which baby snowboarder doesn't seem to rate much but might be necessary. I think BLW is great and does work but it does definitely take longer to get going. I'm going to try and add in purees and try and combining the two as advised and see if it makes a difference - I would hate to think he really is waking JUST because he's starving and I was not helping him eat more! However after last night's 2 hr wakeful period after big feed at 2am I'm not so sure!! Cheers all. Good debate as usual. What am I going to do over the next 2 weeks! Will report back. x
  22. I don't think we have had actual choking - that sounds scary hornpipe! But - slightly TMI - have had gagging and whole 'meal' coming right back up over highchair tray!! Apple is quite hard - we have had more success with softer pear/necatarine. And I really try to make sure baby is sat up as straight as possible, not leaning back.
