Personally I think they are good and have always had one on various buggies/prams....however toddlers and muddy shoes and their general attitude (!) seems to mean it's more tricky to accommodate older ones than babies - and some footmuffs are quite small so if your little boy is tall you might have to be careful. Good in the rain/snow though as some degree of waterproof protection too...

You need a nice new bag you can wear over your shoulder! I have a change console thing to stuff in the bottom with nappies and wipes and a change of clothes and muslins plus other stuff in bag that I carry. What with that and an nearly 8kg baby my back hurts.....

Me and the boys and the buggy will be at Peckham Ryoe one oclock club fun day on friday if anyone wants a look!! Helen - not as generous at the p&t main seat but not too bad at all....

Advice wanted: getting breech baby to turn!
snowboarder replied to crystal7's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Youngest snowboarder turned v late too - about 35/36 weeks from breech/transverse. I tried the spinning babies positions..but...well, not easy when 33weeks preggers!! So no real good advice except for as above - second babies seem to hang about a bit in terms of positioning themselves.... -
I have the new mountain buggy duet which is the slimmest side by side double currently available - its 63cm wide which is only a bit wider than a p&t (with the p&t the wheel base is v wide). It's a bit over your budget but I reckon you stand a better chance of getting on a bus with it than any other side by side - the nipper in particular is v wide (as is the bugaboo). Lochie you are welcome to have a look at my buggy stash!!

Yeah just so I spent the absolute max I could on the buggy I bought a hammerhead doubles seat too. The sport does work too though...see if you can try one out maybe - I thought it made enough difference to be worth it but you might disagree...

I found the major negative of phil and teds is there seems to be a period of a couple of months (between maybe 3/4m and 6/7m?) where baby gets too big/alert for the cocoon but too small to comfortably sit/sleep in the second seat. And that when both children are in the buggy neither can recline very far. If you can muddle through those months and deal with that they're ok, not great, but do the job. They are heavy in comparison with a side by side, but there you go. Some models have a slight recline on the doubles seat, some don't - do check as it makes all the difference I found. Good luck searching!

Yep mountain buggy do something called a freerider (scooter turned buggyboard) and do Phil and teds adaptors - BUT I'm pretty sure they don't do one for the vibe - just the explorer and verve. Super expensive too. There is a pic on Phil and teds Facebook page of a regular buggy board attached to a verve I think - looks ok.

zeban - sorry I think you are treading dangerous ground here - I think I read you don't yet have children? (Sorry if I have got that wrong) I know it's a cliche - you just wait etc - but seriously I would probably have said that myself 3 yrs ago. Nothing I read or watched or even experienced through a relative or a sibling prepared me for the absolute tiredness and stress of early parenthood. Maternity nurse/doula/midwife/cleaning help...if any of these make this period more enjoyable then they should not be discounted or sneered at....

Roaring baby sleeping toddler....
snowboarder replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
MrsLL2B I will hang onto the hope that it is indeed wonder week-itis. Though tbh it is really a looong time ago that he was sleeping through - was prob at about 12 weeks!! I am convinced it is not hunger, with my older son weaning and food consumption had no relationship with sleep at all. Sigh. You'd think after one bad sleep baby you would know how to deal with the next, eh? -
I was going to ask same. A maternity nurse may well be a 'luxury' but I'm surprised at how they have been described on this thread - it was my understanding that they would simply help you with your baby, esp at night, in the early weeks whe you are exhausted and in shock! In an age and probably area where many of us do not have the help of family that would have been commonplace in the time of our grandmothers it sounds an amazing resource on offer....

Advice on whether I need a double pram
snowboarder replied to verds's topic in The Family Room Discussion
...if you're into slings...I SO try to be but I find I cannot control my walking/scooting 2.5 yr old (23m age gap) when I have the baby on my front in a sling. Had a horrid trip back from the park once - pushing a buggy that no one was sat in, baby on front, older one on scooter, could NOT cross the road safely, baby got bonked on the head by scooter boy's helmet, I got v cross, extreme physical tiredness! But everyone talks about this as a solution so maybe it is just me!! A 2.10 girl is probably an awful lo better than a 23m boy - but I suppose will be winter - I reckon a cheap p&t wouldn't hurt nearer the time... -

Roaring baby sleeping toddler....
snowboarder replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The most annoying thing about all of this is that he was amazing at sleep - has slept through till 5am before. And I was determined not to get into the pattern we developed with his brother, so I've really worked hard on settling for naps etc. And now nights have slowly got worse and here we are! We got tough with no. 1 at 11m and I was ok with it as I felt he had a level of understanding of what was going on - that a 6m old definitely has not. I'm happy to sit and soothe and try to settle but he just SHOUTS!! I thought self settling was the holy grail of sleep. Oh no. Oh and it's not hunger. Really. He does have distracted feeding in the day and prob doesn't take enough, but not to the extreme that he would need to wake 1 hr after an hour long night feed. Starting weaning this weekend! -
Roaring baby sleeping toddler....
snowboarder replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Don't actually mind the odd night feed to sleep but it's been 4/5 wakes a night recently, and feeding is the only way to settle him quietly. Can't even pop out in the evening really - last night woke 1 hr after going to sleep, last week 3 wakes before I went to bed. Am zombie :-( -
Roaring baby sleeping toddler....
snowboarder replied to snowboarder's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Quite. It's still taking me an hour to settle baby 2, and then he was awake an hour later ROARING. I can't even face moving him out of my room yet as whilst he's with me I don't actually have to get up all night. Maybe the siblings just don't wake? Oldest hasn't so far but am sure he will then all will go v wrong! -
Agh. 6m old is waking a LOT at night atm. I am totally paranoid about him waking his older brother, so have been feeding him back to sleep (I know...). I am at the point I need to do something about this, but he is seriously LOUD. He settles himself for naps so isn't totally reliant on milk for sleep, but at night I just give in and feed because of the noise. We had to get fairly tough with our toddler when he was about 1, so I am fairly ok with a bit of tough love, but not if it's going result in both children awake! What to do....I am starting to lose the will to live....He has already woken once tonight....

How many children would you have...
snowboarder replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Was thinking about this thread on an endless car journey today (trying to drown out screaming baby) - and I was wondering how many of us who previously commented have now had our subsequent babies.... I have now had baby 2...and I think I said 2 would be it...but as he turns 6m this week I can't help feeling sad he might be my last baby! This is complete madness as he is well and truly following in his brother's footsteps and killing me with lack of sleep...and neither birth was great..but..well... Anyone else? Any updates? -
Also - with cloth - I borrowed some Ellas house hemp nappies from the nappy lady - super absorbent (she might have some still? Molly?). Or yes go up a size in 'sposies and see how they do? Oldest small snowboarder had similar and it did tail off once he was drinking less milk/eating...

Toddler behaviour books - suggestions?
snowboarder replied to spanners45's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Has anyone read 'the happiest toddler on the block'? I have got as far as all toddlers are cavemen but no further...is it worth it? -
Having read Louloulabelle's post re chicken pox...well it may be shallow of me but I don't know if I could bear 3 weeks of isolation and ill children. Does anyone have any enlightening info on the vaccine - I realise it is not offered as standard and would have to be done privately, but is it as effective as getting chickenpox in terms of future immunity? Why wouldn't you get it (finances aside....)? Just pondering...

Drop-in toddler trampoline session! 17th JULY!!!
snowboarder replied to nyny26's topic in The Family Room Discussion
And sounds good but need more notice! Are there any more sessions planned? -
wd152 hasn't been back to comment? I thought it was a bit aggressive for a first post (any quick skim of this forum would indicate the range of users) so wondered whether it was a wind up. Otta - opportunity for glass of wine anywhere would be awesome...:-)
