Which icandy? The peach blossom or the pear? -
a super fun football club...
snowboarder replied to curlykaren's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Argh why is everything on a Tuesday?!? This sounds so perfect for my 2.5 yr old football mad boy but he's in nursery on Tuesday mornings. Am desperate for boisterous activities on Monday and Wednesday's...if anyone hears of anything... -
Parental disagreements; insight much appreciated.

Just to note - oldest small snowboarder started 'school' for 2 mornings a week 2 months after the arrival of youngest and I think it did him good - he's certainly improved in terms of behavior and I really think he likes having something he does away from the baby - whilst he still does demand my attention at times (no milk! no milk!) too. That said although I think it is good for us all - I find the drop off and pick up a total pain - always at baby sleep time! -
Tar barrels at Ottery rocks. I didn't really believe that drunken devon men ran randomly and fiercely around a small market town with burning barrels of tar until I went. And it's SO busy. Scary.

HIya - the bee board is fine as it attaches to the frame - so it's not like they have to balance! It does however get in the way a bit when walking - I don't use it full time but I do find it quite annoying. I've seen people with lascal boards on bugaboos but I don't know how well they fit/work.

A weaning rant for anyone bored enough to read!
snowboarder replied to jennyh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My youngest is a similar age - although we just started weaning - and isn't spectacularly interested either. My older boy was quite enthusiastic about picking stuff up and feeding himself (cautionary note though blw for all it promises does not necessarily deliver you a great eating toddler!). I quite wanted to try a different tack with the baby as my 2 yr old has such a limited range of foods (and won't actually eat anything you can't pick up as a single entity) but the puree's and porridge aren't going down too well. And he won't pick anything up (despite eating every toy in the house and demolishing a chocolate chip cookie left lying around - oops). I'm thinking I'll just keep offering stuff if he's awake at toddler meal times, and keep on with milk as usual. It is odd because I thought the little one would be quite up for it having sat through numerous meals as a spectator with his brother. And I had let myself hope weaning might be the answer to diabolical sleep (you never learn!!). -
Ditto above (small snowboarder and belle being best buddies/sworn enemies within same 10 mins!) - so only empathy really. Neutral territory (park/soft play etc) definitely best, also meets with older or younger children seem to work too as they can boss/be bossed more successfully!! I'm hoping it changes FAST with winter approaching though..

Yes the micralite buggies are annoying - the back wheels located exactly a normal leg width apart! Toro better than other model though which all children seem to slump in!
-
Hmmm....tricky!! The phil and teds smart is v upright - but 2 handles and folds in 2 pieces I think... Bugaboo bees....but expensive.... I think you might have to go to John Lewis/mothercare/peppermint and try other prams out! Annoying the umbrella folds don't work for you. This website is pretty good for general buggy info...

Does this time of year make you melancholy..?
snowboarder replied to gwod's topic in The Family Room Discussion
OOh no I love autumn too. It is always associated for me with starting something new - hangover from school/college, like ruth - new stuff, new chances and opportunities, new hockey season etc. And I love colder days and autumn leaves and harvest festival and fireworks and wrapping up. I like warm summer too, but particularly like this time of year. More recently I reached 12 weeks with my last 2 pregnancies in September, so it reminds me of exciting times, and now - new groups starting up again after a pretty dull august, oldest boy at nursery, about to take the baby to his own little music session. All good, I love it!! -
For our sins, we have been. I have a 2 yr old boy and actually he enjoyed the rest of the park MUCH more, but he's not massively into Peppa and friends. The queues were enormous for each ride, and the rides pretty lame (even for a 2 yr old - but he's a bit of a speed freak!). I have never seen so many buggies in my life....

Toy recommendation for 2.5 yr old boy
snowboarder replied to SR's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My 2.5 yr old has a wide range of 'likes' including anything vehicle (train/car/tractor/digger) related, pirate related, dinosaur related and robot related. Play doh and crayons not so much, but ok for a bit. Loves books. Loves tv. -
Look here and here for loads of info. As far I know the only real tandem alternatives are the Britax B dual (which is wider than the mountain buggy side by side) and the icandy peach blossom (expensive). There are others but these along with the phil and teds seem to be the main options. I have the explorer - I wouldn't recommend it - the sun hood is nearly impossible to fit on especially in newborn/toddler mode (look round the playgrounds - explorers everywhere with the sun hood falling off!). I like the sound of the verve as the doubles seat does recline - which has to be a bonus! But again is the most expensive model I think!
-
Sounds good! My only comment would be to think v hard about baby proofing if you are allowing toddlers to come along - it might just be my lack of control over my son but I find pub baby club venues scary - so much opportunity to raid cutlery/glasses/get behind bar/escape through many doors...esp when looking after a baby too!

What did you wear when you gave birth?
snowboarder replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
For afterwards I absolutely second the soft pj/yoga pants and vest options - do they call it 'loungewear' or something?!? I was in hospital for about a week after both my babies and I really did not want to be sat around in a nightie - yoga pants and vest and cardi made me feel much more normal and comfortable! I still have my specially bought 'labour' nightie (not expensive but never worn). Wore a black vest top in the pool, and I think one of my husbands t shirts at one point. It kind of stops being important, which is hard to imagine just now!! Spend your money on b/f bras....sooo expensive but so worth getting comfortable ones! -

Hi - just to confirm that Bumps and Babes is back from it's summer break tomorrow morning at St Faiths - 9.30 - 11.30, drop in whenever. I won't be there due to energetic toddler but do go along.
