Do you use a sheepskin buggy liner?
snowboarder replied to sarahew's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I seem to have quite a few!! I do like them - I think they work well in summer in place of a cosy toes for comfort and ensure baby doesn't get too sweaty. I've never had a problem folding up a buggy with one in (more probs with cosytoes). I have one from mothercare that seems to fit most buggies pretty neatly and has ties at the top to help keep it in place. The phil and teds one is fine but not as thick as some of the others (but not too expensive). I too used them in the p&t cocoon/bottom area. -
It's in the new but by the lower rear entrance. Really good. And fairly tolerant!

There is a pizza/pasta place on the corner of the market block facing the maritime museum - it is yellow - do not know the name! But the cafe on the lower ground floor of the museum facing the park is really nice and does children's portions.

You could borrow ours?

Don't worry - I regularly take my side by side mountain buggy on the bus - I go ask to get on the back door with it. My single mountain buggy is pretty much the same size as a p&t and that's fine too - get in front or back. There's still room for 2 buggies with either.

I was remembering this thread this morning and was laughing to myself as I got up. My 3 yr old joined me in a speedy shower while the baby banged on the shower door. I got dressed whilst holding clingy baby and 3 yr old bounced naked on bed. 3 yr old then dried my hair for me and dried himself with hairdryer (baby still on my hip). I wafted a bit of mac powder on my face and attempted some one handed eyeliner (soon to smudge on cheekbone). I don't have any other make up as 3 yr old has emptied it/drawn with it. And the thought of CURLING MY EYEBROWS and putting on BLUSHER (neither of which I think I did even on my wedding day) in this situation made me giggle (good job as other option probably to cry). So - for anyone else whose morning 'routine' sounds like this - my vague strategies so as not to look like a tramp in pjs is to shower regardless of crying/fighting/little helpers, get an ironing lady - even if clothes are old and crap at least they are not creased, buy a job lot of m&s strappy vests - good for breastfeeding and hiding/covering the tummy/hips and wear under tops and shoes/jackets/scarfs can help jazz up crappy jeans and t shirts and are available to buy on lordship lane so no shopping trauma (at least I hope they do!). Then we had breakfast and pretty much had to start again....

The National Army museum is supposed to be good - I think it does get pretty busy though so better on a weekday if possible?

Here. No interest in the company or anything btw - just saw the offer on fb and thought might be useful to someone.

Oh also - if you fancy the wooden hut in woods type hols - look at fforest in Cardigan in Wales. Looks awesome!

We have been to the wonderfully named Sandy Balls in the New Forest. We liked it but think not as big/shiny as CP (but have not been)...

Villa type holiday reccomendations
snowboarder replied to mrs f's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had a week here - http://www.padre-aviles.com/ - when our eldest was 14m and it was nice - group of apartments, but cheaper than villa as shared pool etc, really baby friendly and some swings etc and a short drive from Malaga airport. Struggling this year - everything is sooo expensive - and often villas are for bigger groups - Simpson travel seem to have some smaller properties in Majorca though that I'm currently trawling my way through! Costa de la Luz is lovely - we staying in a villa in El Palmar one year but can't find it online atm. -
Holiday destination ideas, please!
snowboarder replied to srisky's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'm searching for a similar type holiday (given up on the glamping idea!) but places like Martinhal and Domes of Elounda seem eye wateringly expensive!!. I've not been but this place in Majorca has caught my eye in my internet trawl - http://www.hotel-migjorn.com/family-breaks.htm Anyone been? Nice? -
Waiting list for primary school-help needed
snowboarder replied to Kaska's topic in The Family Room Discussion
???? - Felbrigg?? Wow that basically means that children living in the centre of East Dulwich cannot get into a primary school. What on earth is going on here? -
Batman seeks Spiderman!
snowboarder replied to wouldloveasnooze's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I have a Woody, aged 3....not sure toy story counts as superheroes though!! (also have a 1 yr old alien) -
Well managed a poo eventually half in pants half on potty - after much crying and hopping about! I wouldn't mind too much if he popped a nappy on and did it but that doesn't seem to work. Hoping time will help - have really only been doing this less than a week in earnest. Pooey potties are worse than pooey nappies, no?!? No wee accidents at all today (hurrah!) but nursery tomorrow morning....argh! Did have one of those odd moments when I just though WHAT has life come to when I realised I was saying 'mr poo just wants to go to pooland, poppet, that's all, he's tickling your bottom isn't he'. Jeez.

Bugaboo Bee or Icandy Cherry
snowboarder replied to missyelliott's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I think the icandy strawberry looks lovely - basically the updated cherry I think? I don't rate the bee (it's currently in the loft!) but I know am unusual in that. -
Yup got everybody poos. And pirate pete's potty. A whole library of books about poo. But nothing yet today but lots of crying.
-
Ugh yes crawling baby flinging contents of potty around is an added lovely dimension I hadn't quite bargained on...
-
...after aborting at christmas time due to poo in potty reluctance/phobia. On day 5 now and exactly the same - not bad at wees but only 2 poos in 5 days. What to do?!? I have a miserable uncomfortable hopping about 3 yr old with me this afternoon. Don't dare go out. No manner of bribes or 'poo goes to pooland' stories are working. Seems a shame to give up again when the wees are going ok, and he's being relatively cooperative in terms of actually wearing pants (sometimes has refused). Did try putting a nappy on 'just for a poo' but he forgot and settled down to play and no poo. Am hating potty training. Worse than weaning. And all little friends happily trained some time ago....

Blusher?!? False eyelashes? Seriously - you all sound amazing. I'm lucky if I brush my hair....
-
Yep you need to contact them. I need to sort for 13m old so thanks for reminder.....Hmm neither he nor my 3 yr old have had their 8m checks...oops...

'Sleeping through' at 6m? Does this happen?!? Neither of mine did. The thing that helped both of my boys with sleep was trying to not (breast) feed to sleep...easier said than done, but for us breaking that association was the thing that made the most difference... (nb - am not saying don't feed at night, just try not to use the boob as way to settle...)
-
OK you all convinced me - going to give it a try. Especially like the idea you can go longer without changing it (my troublemakers don't let me take many bathroom stops!). Might even do a review (JOKE). Where best to get? Healthmatters?

DG2 - I would imagine by double loft they meant over the main house and outrigger - the lower roof often found on the L-shape extension of many of the terraces around here? Might be wrong. We had a quote for ?45k for a 2 room and bathroom loft extension over main roof and outrigger in September, all within PD. Side return harder to say - I couldn't separate out building costs for you - and obviously spec of kitchen/extent of works etc is far more variable than a loft. Maybe at least ?50k including kitchen?
