  1. Yeah my smallest (2 next week) is similarly pretending he doesn't need a nap....sometimes he goes through esp if we're out for tha day, but if we are at home I always put him to bed around 1 and get him up at 2.30 - if he sleeps he sleeps! He was fighting bedtime for a bit too but that seems to have settled down. This is all annoying as eldest (after a crap first yr) reliably napped until he was three. I need that nap, dammit!
  2. Hmm - it's my birthday in a couple of weeks too and have just been thinking there's nothing I really want/need....I seem to have SO much stuff! Obviously something sparkly is always nice...or a cool bag...nationl trust/hever castle/type membership...a gym membership or some personal trainer sessions....but a weekend away is my most wanted thing!
  3. Is it this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-PLEASANT-JOURNEY-SUPER-CAR-TRACK-SERIES-2-CARS-SAFARI-PARK-MOTORIZED-SEALED-/281054181101?pt=Electronic_Battery_Windup_Toys_US&hash=item41702276ed I've def seen it before - it looks good!!
  4. I quite like the Feather and Black stuff - http://www.featherandblack.com/childrens/bed-linen/boys-bed-linen - but my boy loves dinosaurs so that works! The y do quite cool kids beds too....
  5. We have a pintoy one - great for two children as is 2 sided - so not too much elbowing out of the way - each can have a side, and pretty small in footprint. Such a great toy - my 2 boys love it :-) http://www.babipur.co.uk/shop/images/pintoy_kitchen_utility_island%20t.jpg
  6. I have one but haven't had chance to try it yet....when you always have company when you go to the loo it's not very easy!! Also...I get it out every so often...and just think NO WAY!!
  7. Scareyt - I want to go there too!! I'm currently trawling owners direct trying to find an apartment in Puerto Pollensa - we're broke this year but want to make the most of our last chance af holiday-ing outside of school holidays. Our brief includes 2 bedrooms/kitchen/access to pool/close to beach....want much?!?
  8. Ditto Claire above in terms of reasons - we used Nanny Link. The main thing I liked is that they only put forward nannies within our budget, and they had actually met them first.
  9. My eldest never got on with buggy boards - and believe me I have tried all scenarios - on the bee with baby facing him on a bugaboo board, on the maclaren, on the mountain buggy with - wait for it - a scooter style buggy board. But no - he jumped off really quickly as the novelty wore off then either bolted or wanted carrying etc. And the scooter was and is still a bit of a pain at nearly 4 as he's way too good and fast, so zooms off. All a bit painful...we had (and still have!) a double buggy. I also needed to strap him in sometimes at fraught moments! It really doesn't matter how old your child is nor other people's experiences - your child will make it very clear what you need to do for your sanity/their safety...
  10. Are there any that stay on?!? And I'm not talking for babies, I'm talking about for a nearly 4 and nearly 2 yr old! Jojo ones seem erraticly sized and rubbish (alternately huge or tiny). Barts ones don't stay on. Sainsburys no good either. Off to the slopes soon too so need some that stay on!
  11. I'm kind of not really into Portugal as I think the sea wouldn't be as calm/warm for little ones...but as I've never been I could (and would like to be told!) that I'm wrong!! I love the costa de la luz but again the sea is rougher and colder than the med (which in our younger kite surfing style days was fun, but seeing the great time our 3 yr old had bobbing about in the med in mallorca last year I'm more into that area I think). This place looks amazing, and I love Spain, but too dear for us this year - http://www.caseriodelmirador.com/index.php
  12. Ooh - lefkas looks good - def more on budget!! Thanks - anyone else been there?
  13. Simpson travel - this one - http://www.simpsontravel.com/mallorca-holidays/pollenca-and-puerto-pollenca/villas/villa-rosa-vells - lovely because actually within walking distance of the old town, quick drive to beaches, and private pool. But we took the grandparents (ahem well they took us...) which made it more affordable...:-)
  14. So it's freezing and bleak...I need a summer hols to look forward to! Help help please! I need somewhere lovely and warm in June for 2 weeks, with access to pool and beach and poss cafes etc, not too built up, self catered (at least 2 bedrooms), and not too expensive!! I'm quite keen on the med rather than the atlantic coasts of Spain and Portugal as the sea is so much clamer and warmer for 4 and 2 yr olds. We had a lovely time in a villa in Pollensa, Mallorca last year but can't really afford that again. Places that always get recommended like Martinhal and most of baby friendly boltholes ideas are way out of our budget!! Any ideas? Or am I kidding myself?!?
  15. Huh. Tracked on ww, did have my weekly points as went out for husbands birthday. Have felt miserable about self and hungry. Not lost a pound. Ate 4 rich tea biscuits to drown my sorrows. Next week is a new week, right?
  16. My little wellie wearer has a pair of these aigle lined wellies: http://www.easy-wellies.co.uk/aigle-childrens-fur-lined-snow-boot-red-and-white-p-740.html. This is good because he has some kind of issue with wearing socks, so furry lining is helpful (!). I also bagged a pair of olang snow boots for him on ebay ( a fiver! woohoo!) which are study/supportive and super warm! - http://www.olang.co.uk/product.php?product_id=57
  17. If you are really hardly going to use it, the maclaren quest is just fine. Small, nippy, great on buses - you should get a second hand one of those for ?50. Or Mamas and Papas do some small umbrella strollers pretty cheap. A new quest would be good as they recline flat I think, but they are quite pricey.
  18. Yeah but not for much longer - no more buggys needed here now youngest is nearly 2. Moving back onto snowboards/handbags....:-)
  19. Check out the Mountain Buggy duet - narrowest side by side on the market. We had a 22m age gap and loved it. Would advise steering clear of the phil and teds models where the second seat doesn't recline - makes life a bit hard when the baby is just out of the cocoon but still little. We now have the p&t verve and still use it with our 3.9 and 1.11 yr old lumps - it's good because the second seat reclines to near flat but also takes up to 20kg weight limit and doesnt tip. Also - if you fancy tandems - look at the oyster max/jane twone/TFK joggster twist with buddyseat. Oh and think Micralite are bringing out a new tandem with inbuilt buggy board soon?
  20. Freakin' scales. I've just discovered they weigh differently depending on where in the bathroom I put them. I now seem to have put on 2kg just because of that!! Dispiriting as have been trying really hard and now can't really work out if have had any results! Not been a week yet though. I love food too. I do actually love exercise but find it sooo difficult to get out - I don't really take a lunch break on the 2 days I work, journey too far to cycle/run, kids up early and hubby home late and youngest not at nursery yet. I love running and hockey (and snowboarding) but all tricky with small ones! I'll have to psyche self up to do my davina dvd. I had an epiphany moment in Cotswold outdoor (of all places!) yesterday where the biggest size was a 14 in pretty much all the snowboard kit, and not close to fitting me...SOBSOBSOB!!!
  21. Back here again. Last year was rubbish. Anyone in? Pickle/pebbles/grotty will you be the motivators?!? Expect it's in here somewhere but some meal tips would be great to share. I need to lose 35kg, but have a pressing need to lose as much as pods in the next 7 weeks as off snowboarding and currently my gear doesn't fit!!
  22. I'm wondering whether my 3 yr old just doesn't do excited!! I think he finds the time aspect hard to understand - WHEN is this thing happening anyway?!? 22m old oblivious.
  23. I'm probably being thick - but does anyone know actually what this is - is it a performance? Suitable for a 3.8 yr old or not.... Racking my brains trying to sort out xmas activitites as we are already very cross with each other!!
  24. At this age our eldest basically started to enjoy all the cbeebies programmes - alphablocks/numberjacks/lingo show/show me show me - I think you can watch them on i player....numtums taught him to count!! I have the baby einstein dvd's - they are odd and I really wouldn't bother. Z now also likes umizumi (counting I think!), and there is Little einsteins on one of the sky channels that isn't too bad (still a bit cringy music-y but better than the baby version!). The Sing and Sign dvd was also a hit at that age - so maybe just something with familiar songs?
  25. There is also ruggerbeez I think, and gymboree/tumbletots.
