  1. I'm also a fan of Riverford potatoes and veg. Really flavourful. 2. For my sisters hen do we had a private flamenco class. The teacher booked a room in a gym and we met there. It was fun and I brought props - a flamenco style skirt, flowers to wear in her hair etc. We're not Spanish but we like dancing. It was 8 years ago so I don't have details of the teacher but I found her through an internet search.
  3. Thank you for the suggestion Hazelnunhead.
  4. Hi John I am not seeking employer experiences at this time. I intend to continue the research as part of an occupational psychology degree next year and depending on the outcome of this piece of work I may go done that route for the next study. Thanks Amanda
  5. I am researching and writing a dissertation on the employment experiences of people with hidden disabilities. I am looking for people who are willing to talk to me about why they have, or have not disclosed their disability to their employers and potential employers, and the effect this has had on their lives. The research is part of an MSc in Psychology and has ethics approval (the ethics approval does not extend to vulnerable adults). The disability or condition does not have to be medically diagnosed. People who express an interest will be sent additional information before they decide to participate, they are not obliged to take part and can withdraw at any time. Meetings will take place in a safe environment, for example, an office or on Skype. I am an HR professional with over 15 years of experience in recruitment and training and I want to do this work to help reduce the barriers and obstacles to employment that many people with disabilities face. I am available to answer questions and, if you are willing and interested in taking part, please PM me or send an email to: [email protected] Thanks Amanda
  6. I'd spend the tenner on something fun and frivolous. For example, photo booth kit, inflatable dolphin, inflatable reindeer antlers hat that you throw rings onto (saw that on Amazon), a children's turn taking game like Pop-up Pirate or Shark attack, novelty masks or hats.
  7. South London Dance Studios in Herne Hill offer tap dance classes.
  8. The woman dressed as a Telly Tubby near London Bridge station on a Friday morning. "Gooooood morning...ta, ta, ta"
  9. As you are changing career I suggest a skills-based or functional CV will give you the opportunity to demonstrate which skills you have previously developed that are transferable to your newly chosen path. Google for examples. To make it easy for the hiring manager to read: - Make sure that your contact details are correct and easy to find at the top of your CV - Make sure that the phone number you provide can accept voicemail - Use bullet points to list key duties/skills (much easier to read and find info looking for) - Use a regular size font (eg. arial 10; times new roman 12) that is easy for most people to read - Keep your formatting consistent, eg. where you put company name and date consistent for different roles, bolding etc. - Record your work experience in reverse chronological order - If sending your CV electronically make sure that you use common software like MS Word which is compatible with lots of systems. A pdf make work better as the formatting won't get messed up in translation. Beneath your contact details you could include a short summary of why you want to teach which will indicate your motivation and enthusiasm (but avoid statements that could apply to anyone eg. 'work well on my own or in a team'). Include a cover letter in which you can outline why you are applying to that particular organisation or role and what you will bring to the job. This will also show that you have done some research. Good luck.
  10. I have sent you a PM.
  11. My favourite is The Moth Podcast, true stories told live in front of an audience. All sorts of stories from a variety of people, some funny, some moving and almost always unpredictable. Also like: The First Time with Matt Everitt The Joy of 6 Women's Hour The Food Programme The Bottom Line A History of the World in 100 Objects has been recommended to me but I haven't listened yet.
