The Commentator, Jah? Really?

Make sure to get Louisa the cheapest wine in the house, El Pibe. And Louisa, I've never heard of the Victorian lady. Is she just walking around the path, or on the lake itself?

Very few "local ghostly activities" these days. All the local ghosts cashed in and moved to Orpington, North Devon and the Costa Blanca.

The closing of the Oglander is buried in the Forum folk memory. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,15149,page=1 I see a Keef posting there, but strangely have no memory of him. Can't picture him at all.

Yeah Meg, why do you hate children? And don't forget this: "The Harris Federation have agreed a vision of creating primary schools in East Dulwich that will be in the top 10% for England and Wales for attainment and progression." That's a nailed-on clincher. James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > And without new primary schools many children will > have no school places in the area. I'm incredulous > that you think this acceptable or that children > should would be able to go shopping but not have a > school place.

Alan, are you the double fronter that's gone "full Santa"? steveo, I would guess we're talking a generation removed from the two-car drive, suburban cul-de-sac. But whether Russians or arriviste East-Midlanders - good work them. Fair brightened my pech up the hill. The other option is full on upper class English eccentric = embracing the gaudy and f*ck you if you care. On the other hand, it could be the wincing middle-middle class affecting such disregard for social norms. Oh, who knows. It's a socio-economic minefield.

I was casing a few joints on Court Lane last night and was surprised at the vulgarity of the Christmas light displays on the front of quite a few of the houses. If you live in one of those houses: bravo.

Cheers Otta. Look forward to seeing you at some of the great pop-up nights and projects Gizzi has planned: Hand Wash Only (December 27): labels won't define you. The Shoreditch House team are each donating an unwanted "hand wash only" item for our hot-cycle display. Bring your own hand wash hates and get them spinning at 1500rpm. Woollen Mix (January 18): unwind and unravel in the New Year with our detergent detox. Local yarn forager Raffdog will be knitting stories non-stop for 24 hours. Iron Man (February 23): Phil Partridge, creative muse of Burger, Lobster, Lobster Burger and Burger Lobster, will be live tweeting the installation of his ironing board collection in a permanent exhibition. Irony. Re-dry the Streets (May- August): We're installing street-based urban drying racks in the neighbourhood. Community, urban drying taken to guerilla level. #redrythestreets

Hi 'bout now, I wish we could meet that pricing level but this is a sustainable, local business, so we'll be operating a price offer that reflects that premium. Still, there are other launderettes that would meet your low prices. That's fine. Peckham's for everyone.

We're sourcing some great old skool washers: some rescued Eastern Bloc models with some Scandi classics as well. For dryers, we're going sustainable Icelandic geo-thermal.

Latest launch on the Bellenden scene. Gizzi Erskine is curating front of house. She's recruiting interns now to form our service wash team - get in touch via Kred. I think this is really bringing a new offer to the area washer/dryer scene. See http://www.tumbldryr.com for more details.

Enormous housing estates built on the cheap, shit weather, stodgy bland diet, binging on cheap alcohol. Yes, those 1960s kids sure were glad to be able get away from it all for a few days. Try the waitress all week, etc.

"I do remember the Streatham News making up and printing a whole load of stuff I never said" Did the letters editor request a sabbatical a couple of months later?

You Dulwich & West Norwood types will be having a new MP at next election. Who should it be?

Any lobotomy references?

Paws for thought. The grey woollen one, please, with the black buttons. And the black scarf. Thanks.

I wasn't even aware Neighbours had clocked up the half ton.

This is all about creating an internal market in burglary services provision. The previous vertically integrated model, where "cradle to grave" local teams fulfiled all aspects of the breaking and entering supply chain - target identification, resources planning, active burglary engagement, post-intrusion dispersal of goods - was proving too inefficient. The market consisted of small teams operating as effective local monopolies, often duplicating efforts whilst ignoring national standards of best burglary practice. This led to an overall lowering of standards, inefficiencies in supply (the so-called postcode lottery) and a complete lack of internal accountability. The path currently being followed is to ensure each commissioning element of the chain can buy-in resources from a choice of autonomous specialist providers. Hence, the consumer has a choice of fences to buy stolen goods from, the fence has a choice at market rate of active engagement specialists, the active engagement specialists have clear goals and objectives set by their commission teams, and can in turn commission services from resources suppliers, as well as community-focussed target identification teams. This Choice Pathway For Quality is producing real results in a performance-related environment that empowers all stakeholders with greater choice and potential rewards.

Surely someone saw the EDF house band play the local arena last night?
-
Sadly still relevant. You'd probably find them a bunch of hideous lefties but I believe these people do good work raising awareness and lobbying. EDF factoid: Trustee David Haslam, a former chair, used to be minister at Christ Church, Barry Rd. http://dsnuk.org/
