Hello! Is anyone collecting plastic bottle tops for a charity collection? I have been collecting these for someone my mum knows (who was collecting for a childs wheel chair) and I asked lots of friends to help out, but they have stopped now and I have 3 huge bags in my hall way. So I was just wondering if anyone is collecting them for any reason! I have loads I can pass on... Best wishes!

can anyone recommend campsites right by the sea?
dutchestatefamily replied to bonacara's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Southwold in Suffolk has a campsite by the sea... there is a road (very quiet) between the campsite and sand dunes though. Wonderful, sandy, endless beach. about 3 little beach side cafes along the beach - right on the beach so you can have a tea and cake while your child digs in the sand. brilliant pier.... etc... lots to do in Southwold and surrounding area - it's a beautiful area and very baby/child friendly in Southwold. Doesn't take long to drive - 2 hours ish i think. -

Hello, Does anyone know of a local (ish) place that repairs maclaren buggies? There is supposed to be a list on the Maclaren website but I just can't find it on their site. It may be glaringly obvious but i just can't find it and had to give up... i've sent them an email to ask. Just thought I would ask on here too. I'm really hoping that there is somewhere easy to get to in a car with ok parking as i'll have a baby and toddler (and of course, a non-working buggy!). I am lost without the buggy! how sad. Many thanks.

Hamster Bags (for the buggy) - anyone tried them?
dutchestatefamily replied to kemurf's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, I've got them for our buggy.. my son is sometimes on a buggy board and the baby in the buggy... when he's on the buggy board it's difficult to have my bag slung over the buggy handles as it gets in his way, so the hamster bags are great. I'm really pleased with them. And yes, no more buggy falling over! -

What A levels for Art/Design courses at college?
dutchestatefamily replied to Minitoots's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Most art and design degree courses will require a foundation course for entry. When I did my A levels I did Art, French and Theatre studies. For me, the foundation was a place to experience a wide range of art and design disciplines (far more than possible at A level) and it helped students to decide on which area to study at degree level. I had to show my portfolio at my interview for my foundation and the offer was only to achieve one A level (can't remember the grade needed). Your son's art teachers should be able to advise him on foundation and degree courses and portfolio preparation. They will be art/ design graduates themselves. Hope this helps and good luck to your son! -

Hi Susan, Contact the Southwark Council Family information service (contact info below is from the Southwark website) Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm Tel: 0800 013 0639 [email protected] They can send you a list of nurseries and childminders in your area or at least they did a few years ago when I was looking for my son. Or you can do your own search on the Southwark website.

Hello, Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the nursery dance class at South London Dance Studios? I'm thinking about putting my son's name on the waiting list. I'm just a bit apprehensive about leaving him by himself at the class. I have been told that parents can be with the child for the first class only. I'm sure that my son would be fine after getting used to it - I just wondered what other peoples experiences were. I know that you have to commit to a terms worth of classes as there is no trial class. My son will be 3 when he starts. It will probably be me worrying more than him! Many thanks!

Mother Goose Greendale Fields
dutchestatefamily replied to kateamin's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, My son has been attending Mother Goose on Greendale since he was 9 months old. He is very happy there and we are pleased with it. We have found the staff caring and friendly and the children seem happy to be there. Like you, it was the only nursery that we got a place for our son, but its worked out really well. There's the opportunity to get involved at social events/ sports day etc. so you can get to meet other parents. My son is a similar age to your daughter so they may be in the same room.... perhaps we will see you at drop off pick up time! Good luck with the settling in process. If you have any specific questions you are welcome to PM me. Best wishes -
Hi Underhillroad, I'm in a similar situation to you. Our second baby is due in a few weeks and I'm also down to go to the breast feeding workshop next week. I decided to go along this time round as I didn't last time (we moved to the area weeks before our son was born so I didn't get to attend any local classes/ groups). I'm not expecting loads from it but thought I'd give it a go as I've got some childcare in place for that time anyway. So maybe see you there and we can exchange 2nd time round experiences! Good luck for the birth!

Hello, My son is at Mothergoose nursery on Greendale (in the Denmark Hill/ East Dulwich area) and we have been happy with it. He started when he was about 9 months old. When I was looking I got a list from the Southwark childcare information service of nurseries in my area and then went to visit some. I did find that some places were telling me that they had huge waiting lists. I put my son down on 4 waiting lists and was offered a place at one. Good luck!

Second baby due Feb... help!
dutchestatefamily replied to rachyrach's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Rachel, There is a bumps and babes group on monday mornings at the goose green community centre (behind the church). I'm mum to a 2 year old and we are expecting baby number 2 in april. I've been along to the group a few times and found it a great place to meet other pregnant mums with toddlers. It was a good opportunity to chat over a cup of tea! It's 10am -12pm (if I remember right) and is organised by the NCT but you don't have to be a member to go along. best wishes, Holly -
Can you reccomend a great nursey in SE22 ?
dutchestatefamily replied to sheradene's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Sheradene - My son is at Mother Goose nursery on Greendale. He seems to really enjoy it and we've been really happy with it. I got a list of local nurseries from southwark council - give their childcare information service a call and they will send you information. Then I called and arranged to visit some. -

Hi, Like Mellors, I would also recommend Dulwich Medical Centre on Crystal Palace Road. I'm with the Lanes midwives at the moment and am really pleased with their care so far. Best wishes
