UPDATE: Found Miriam and returned her wallet :) Found a purse at the Dog Kennel Hill end of St Francis Rd this evening. Card inside in the name of Miriam Molero Garcia. PM me with what the wallet looks like and the other contents, and I'll arrange safe return to you! If no replies in a couple of days, will hand in to police. -
We've had two doorstep visits from teenage boys in recent weeks, asking for sponsorship for the Crawford Youth Club. One was mid afternoon last week, and the other was around 8pm tonight. We live on Abbotswood Rd. We don't keep cash in the house, and told them so (and to be honest wouldn't just dish it out on the doorstep...), which meant they didn't fully get into their spiel so I don't have any more info about what the money was for or even what they were being sponsored to do! They were pretty polite and went on their way. However I've just googled the Crawford Youth Club - apparently it was a registered charity but ceased to exist in 1999?! Just wanted to see if anyone can shed any light on it...? Don't want to report to police if it turns out they are somehow legit. Also I couldn't really give police any more information than I've already done here, so doesn't seem much point. Would be good to get others' take, maybe someone has questioned them more closely than I did?

Now that I look more closely at my photo of the whole cashpoint, there's a mark on the cash slot just above the keypad. Could just be a dent/scratch, but could equally be a hole for a camera. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it's possible. The whole thing has made me really quite angry, it's derailed my whole day's plans. Not to mention giving my toddler the serious grumps since he couldn't understand why we had to wait around for police etc. Apologies if you were in the cafe this morning and had to listen to him wailing, I think we were both pretty stressed at that point!

This was it, though there's not much to see. The black part broke in half as I was pulling it out because it was stuck so firmly on the top edge of the slot.

Realise this was a couple of weeks ago now but just spotted your post - I know a Katie Johnson who moved out of Dulwich a few months ago, maybe something being delivered to her old address in error. Will PM you Tara to see if it's the same street/address.

I used the ATM outside Lane Supermarket (bottom end of Lordship Lane, opposite Dulwich Library) this morning, and realised too late that there was a tiny device on the inside edge of the card slot which meant I couldn't get my card out. I could see the tip of my card, but by the time I managed to pull the device out, the machine had reset and sucked my card inside - presumably a legitimate safety feature used if someone accidentally walks away without their card. As soon as I realised what was happening I looked around carefully to see if anyone seemed to be waiting/watching, as far as I could see there was just the shop owner who was outside, I think having a cigarette. He came over and tried to help remove the device/get my card out but was unable to. I called my bank straight away to cancel the card just in case, no harm done on my end (aside from having to wait for a new card), no money taken as the fraudsters hadn't been able to come and actually take the card. Also called the police to report it and hand in the device. They spoke to the shop owner and are trying to access CCTV. Just posting here as a warning to be vigilant and careful at ATMs. I always shield my pin anyway, but I've no idea if there was any way of the keystrokes being captured as well as the card. The device I removed was a thin (the thickness of a credit card) piece of black plastic stuck on to the inside of the top of the card slot, with a very thin strip of metal poking into the slot to retain the card. It was almost invisible, I only looked closely and noticed it when my card failed to come out.

Oh I'm so pleased it all worked out! Obviously sorry your cat did turn out to be injured, but glad that the man's intentions were good and that the vet managed to contact you. Hope your cat is feeling better soon! -
I was walking through St Francis Park (between Dog Kennel Hill and Sainsburys) at about 12.30 today, and saw a man attempting to catch a smallish plain grey cat with a purple collar in a box. The cat didn't seem to know him or want to be caught (and the box was a flat fruit tray, so he didn't seem very well prepared for catching a cat) - so I asked him if it was his cat. He said it wasn't, but he thought it had injured one of its legs and it had an address in Lordship Lane on its collar, so he was trying to catch it to take it back there. I asked if there was a phone number on the collar, he said yes but it wasn't working. I had my toddler with me in the buggy so wasn't in a position to stay, so I left him to it. As much as I hope he was telling the truth (and if he was then I wholeheartedly applaud his efforts), I just wanted to post the info here in case this is your cat and you're wondering where it is. Maybe he won't be successful getting it home, maybe the whole thing was a ruse to kidnap the cat. Who knows. Though I would have thought a professional catnapper would have come better equipped, and probably not work in broad daylight... I'm pretty sure I've seen this cat in the area (I live on the estate next to Dulwich Hamlet FC) a few times over the past few weeks, or at least one that looks very similar. When I saw it today it didn't seem to be injured (was running away from him pretty successfully!) so not sure why he thought it was hurt. Depending where on LL the cat lives, I would have thought DKH wouldn't be a long trip since they can wander for miles, so maybe it was just out for a stroll and will be back home tonight as normal. In any case if this sounds like your cat and it's missing, I'd advise having a look around the St Francis Park area. The man I saw was Chinese or Japanese in appearance, early to mid 20s, had black hair cut very short at the sides with a long floppy fringe, and a chunky gold hoop earring. As I say, I'm not assuming he's a catnapper at all, and I hope he manages to bring the cat home safe and well, but didn't want to keep the info to myself just in case!

Lee and his colleagues have been out to us twice and we've found them to be really helpful and friendly on both occasions. In both instances they've saved us money - first of all by trying a quick (and cheap) fix on a leaking valve, and when it didn't work, suggesting we combine having it replaced with the bigger job we'd mentioned of switching our bathroom radiator for a heated towel rail. This meant we only needed to have the system drained and refilled once, which saved us both time and money. We sourced the towel rail ourselves, but Lee was very helpful when we had questions about the spec/measurements etc, and always responded to texts in a timely fashion. They did a thorough and professional job while they were here, and made sure I was fully consulted on the appearance of the new pipework etc before they started. They also gave us some helpful advice about our heating system and how to manage a couple of its little "quirks", without resorting to replacing the whole thing (not just yet anyway!) All in all, would thoroughly recommend and will be calling again for any future issues :)

Glad you found them - apparently (I have no science to back this up) if you put butter on cats' paws in a new house, they'll sit and lick it off, and it makes them feel at home. Does have a slight downside of buttery footprints on things until they've had a thorough wash though... Also - best cat names ever. Does Fran sit around smoking while Manny clears up after her? ;)
