    Stunned

Anyone else ploughing through the news reports before making sage comments. Will Cameron resign? Will a domino effect ensue? On seeing the clear blue sky this morning after the deluge yesterday : vox populi vox Dei ?
  2. what's your point ?
  3. and strawberry moon tonight, every 70 years this coincidence occurs.
  4. and Catalyst, with the grump upon him, be gracious please, and absorb the easy ambience
  5. Between us we spent an exhaustive morning ringing around charities, charity shops, hostels, in order to dispose of an 8 month old bed, mattress and sprung base, only as we felt it was too soft. it was clean, comfortable, unspoilt. Eventually we paid forty pounds to have it taken away. This was during the rainy season early December, so that being neighbourly and good citizens we did not feel we could leave it outside to become sodden and await Southwark Council pick up. Our neighbours opposite had a filthy mattress propped up outside for months before SC picked it up. This is such a bulky item, really purveyors of new beds should remove the erstwhile bed, but I understand why they do not. good luck !
  6. Jeremy this is my well considered opinion and not your battle. I was not rude, but coherent, logical and forceful. Kindly butt out.
  7. I came on my birthday, betwixt Christmas and New Year with my daughters and granddaughter, who picked up the vibe and was exuberant, happy and ate everything, I had venison and chocolate sauce. Rich for lunchtime but sublime. The music we remarked on, Tim Buckley fhs,and others remarkable, a really esoteric mix, compliments to the compiler (from Spotify apparently) chef, bar, fire maker, everything, and we are tres fussy. and Herbert for being attentive and well mannered and polite, thank you all,
  8. the Cherry Tree is indeed child friendly. However, post 19.00 children and babies should by rights be abed. This is the time when grown ups want to come out to play. As DF so correctly opined, sleeping babies awake and demand, usually vocally. You are out gunned I am afraid, and identified yourself as unreasonable, entitled, selfish. There is an etiquette to life in ED which you would do well to consider, abide by and adhere to. And not attempt to ruin the still building reputation of a local establishment happy to welcome well behaved little ones for lunch.
  9. Seabag that is half the punchline : he worked it all out with a pencil and paper - the old ones are the best
  10. We were lucky enough to secure the services of Joseph last weekend : he was good humoured, strong, and most of all, reliable, and has reasonable rates. Highly recommended.

  12. I see no one in Chelsea Kensington Fulham Putney Marylebone or indeed Bermondsey Street has been canvassed for their view
  13. intexasathemoment, the best and most productive technical approach to the flooding at the Coop would be dynamite. Controlled explosion of course. Only taking out the inside of the store, all its overpriced, unpriced, misleading labels, out of date, stale, sour, off after 3 days, mislabelled, mispriced, out of houmous, limp, presented with indifference bordering on contempt, exasperating store I have ever had the misfortune to enter. And the infamous queues. A management which takes 'laissez faire' to the furthest point of its meaning. Imho of course. Trading Standards, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Consumer groups, EDF hardliners, local people entering the premises in good faith, why are we tolerating (and we do) this beyond mediocre store in the centre of our universe.
  14. hello Rob, I use mobile phone tethering, - occasionally this will not always give me a full connection. I believe there is a thread enquiring as to the best mobile coverage for the area although I am sorry I cannot remember what the conclusions were. It is annoying when friends/family here achieve excellent reception on their phones or laptops. 02 seems to work well. There is nothing wrong with your phone. Unless of course you have hurled it against the wall in exasperation. You will have more replies tomorrow no doubt, people on here are always helpful, - I hope you have the answer you want soon.
  15. hello Rob, I live near the Actress, and believe I have a 'variable signal' ie my laptop will seize, or show script but not photos, and atmospheric conditions make no difference. 4g phone signal is weak, and definitely reduced from earlier in the year, hope this helps, - I have adapted to this and relieved daily that I am no longer with Talk Talk. Good luck in getting it sorted !
  16. There is a risk, that if a fuss is made about the parlous condition of the pavement, then the trees will come down. and I think that would be a shame. Widening the pavement would be preferable, and resurfacing both sides of the trees. This may also slow traffic on that stretch of road. (This would be a good thing).
  17. Conspiracy Theory (1997) watch it and wonder ...... (actually just the road works bit)
  18. hello, I posted this in the lounge already, but anxious to reach a wider target audience. Help, is there anyone out there a tenant of Wandle, who can help me cope with the insouciance of this HA and the attendant exasperation and indeed despair commensurate with being a tenant of this misfit company? and ifperchance you are a happy tenant, how you achieved this state and how you maintain it??? Thank you !!
  19. hello, I am a Wandle tenant in CPR, who would appreciate feedback from others in the area as to their experiences with Wandle? and how best to deal with their vagaries, as I am now at the point where I am musing - 'is it just me?' Thanks !
  20. Townleygreen - hello good morning, I just read your post and wonder, when several posters have described how their lives would be improved by a local Lidl, and not have to get a bus with a toddler etc, and you are, with no irony whatsoever, in your car, which many of us do not have access to, having to go somewhere else for the 'last few bits' This is not meant to sound rude or disparaging - but have you any idea how spoilt you sound?
