  1. first time I've seen this. Looks like a really great idea, and if there is anything I can do to help out I'd more than happy to...
  2. nunhead_man has a the point there. It's already a cut through for the mopeds doing 10000mph; don't need to add cars to that I guess...
  3. I'm all for it. Once I relearn how to swim, I'll be in it a lot cos my knees are not enjoying running so much anymore. Brockwell Lido looks fine, yes it's close as well; but honestly I've seen the queue and always been put off (happy to be told it doesn't take long to get in etc).
  4. yea I thought there were too few entrances as well. Went in it for the first time the other day to eat my fish and chips from the new Rose's fish bar place (v. good I should add) and ended up having to walk the length of the damn park to get in it! Should have just hopped the fence but I had a bike with me.

Same for cycling too, but the benefits of walking far outweighs the hazards of breathing in the air in London. I'm personally going to start cycling/walking as soon as I begin my new job up in blackfriars next month.

But you have to expect a mark-up on > everything in cafes/bars/restaurants, so I can see > how that 10p might turn into 30p or so. Ah yes, that was just an example per se. 1/2 a litre is almost a pint! So that would have to be a very large coffee haha.
  7. To me it doesn't make sense as the UHT soy/almond milk last forever and it's not like it's uncommon these days. Also 50p is a massive increase for a splash of milk, when the cost of 'regular' milk is factored into the original price. If they turned round and was like: "it's 50p per litre more than cow milk and there is 1/2 litre in your drink, so that's going to be an extra 25p" or something along those lines, that would be fine; but in most places it just feels like a tax for needing something different, that in this day and age is not uncommon at all.
  8. So sorry to hear that, i'd be so gutted if that happened to me. I'd say that they first thing is get a strong, good quality D-lock. The wire/cord ones are aptly nick named 'licorice locks' because most of the time you can just pull them off/open, which is probably what happened to yours. Always lock through a wheel and the frame if possible; this makes much less space to fit the bolt cutters on the D-lock and therefore harder to steal. Also two locks is definitely good, the harder it looks to steal the less chance you'll have it nicked by opportunists. I use a D-lock, a chain, and one of those wire loops; that way the thief needs two tools to get it free. Sadly, if it's a really expensive bike, and they want it, no lock will stop them. This is an interview titled "confessions of a former bike thief" and has some good insights: http://www.brixtonblog.com/confessions-former-bike-thief/37643
  9. I managed fine, maybe it's your web browser

  11. Good luck!! If you weren't constrained to london there would be a few more opportunities I guess. Down the southwest there are quite a few 'petting farms' and I worked at one for a few years. It was really fun, rewarding and I loved being outdoors; but the pay was just way too low so couldn't carry on with it.

Including myself. > ^^this is spot on. I know a lot of people who have never really been interested in politics because of something like "all politicians are just people who are nothing like us" etc, and now are resonating with what JC has to say; how he is; and what he has stood up for in the past; and how he has voted. There are loads of people who I know voted Tory because of being farmers and thinking that [they] had the "country's best interest", but now are planning on voting for JC if he's in the next general election because they have been let down by the people they voted for. I think that's incredible, and says a lot about him, and gets my support. If he's kicked out I'll be leaving and voting for another party.
  13. yea the half sized spaces are silly, it's always occurring down our road because people are SOOO bad at parallel parking. It's pure comedy seeing people try over and over again to parallel park in a space the size of three cars, mess it up and kinds give up right in the middle of the space because they cant drive backwards in a straight line. I was thinking about putting benches in the front garden, making a bar and having it as one of those gimmick 'pop ups': The Comedy Parking Club or something haha.

Thanks. Honestly don't know what they think pulling that stunt. Says a lot to the 100000 members just joined doesn't it? probably along the lines of "we don't want your vote, we want labour to keep on how it was, because you know, we were doing so so well."
  15. I'd be fully up for it being taken over by TFL/nationalised. I am probably wrong, as there's is always a catch, but wouldn't that also mean it would be only one fare to go from ED to central, as opposed to having to scan out of the train and into the tube? Kinda like that in Canada Water? That seems too good to be true, so I guess it wouldn't happen.
  16. I'm from a small village near Weymouth (<450 people and everyone knows everyone). I can guess with probably 99% certainty that most people I know down there voted out. Friends, family, pub acquaintances, the lot; except the people that have left dorset for a time and come back. And I think Seabag has hit the nail on the head: a lot of people just have no idea that their views and opinions are antiquated and quite narrow minded. It almost unanimous across all demographics; may not be voiced openly; but certainly affects things like votes and how they consider 'foreigners and grockles'. Never to their face or openly they'll say anything, but as Seabag pointed out: "And then in the quite of a voting booth, we silently express our real feeling on a ballot paper." I have to deal with this, and will for a time, get "oh you're one of them vote in ones/radicals/utopians/idealists" in the pub from people I grew up with and like and try and grit and smile and nod etc because as soon as you voice your opinion and offer counter argument, you become "preachy" etc. I don't want to fall out with them, cos it's a damn small village but it's going to be tough!!
  17. "Gentrification Grey". Love it haha.

  20. well he said something like, "oh I'd love to help other countries wanting to leave the EU as well". Wonder how much ??? he will make consulting with them, a shed load no doubt. The route into the Try cabinet is probably more likely though, given that he used to be involved with them before ukip.
  21. Completely agree with, and stand by you Furiousteacher. I don't have kids, but a many of my friends are teachers and consistently have to do crazy hours to keep up with everything. I honestly don't know how they do it seeing what they are like come Friday night.

  23. So the snide f**k is going to just stand back and not clear up or answer for the mess he's left this country in. Bet this isn't the last we'll see of his bid for PM either.
  24. It's a shame it's been defaced, it's a cool piece. I have though, always thought that's the creepiest mural to have right by a kiddies play park: the ghosts coming out of the hill bit looks like the stuff of nightmares! I'm sure it's all to do with my lack of understanding about what it actually means.
  25. I've signed the petition. This is beyond crazy that they are still allowed to operate.
