I completely accept your point. I do see the signs and know it?s not popular and spent one hour in traffic (electric car) driving in and out of Herne hill today via Dulwich Grove. No offence intended. For the people living inside the Dulwich wealth ghetto I do think it?s fair to say none of them lay down in front of the flower box delivery vans. I?m currently fighting a fine for accidentally driving through the zone at the wrong time of day and Southwark are completely unable to explain exactly how my case differs (it doesn?t) from the one that won at the London Tribunal. This zoning already has precedent for being illegal and Southwark are burying themselves deeper in an already terrible decision. Watch this space for the erection of water fountains for people that live inside and outside of Dulwich Village #freerocca

Well said. A group of wealthy residents creating their own ghetto is disgusting. Stop them coming here to go to M&S for gin for a week and this nonsense will soon end. #endthewealthghetto #makedulwichgreatagain

PCN for driving in Dulwich village, help please!
MCMC replied to renarde's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dear All, Refuse to pay and quote London Tribunal Case Number: 2210358293 The PCN was not upheld as the signage into the area and the ability to turn around as you realise you are about to be fined are not adequate. Xx -
Traffic fines around Dulwich village - has anyone appealed successfully
MCMC replied to Naiada's topic in Roads & Transport
I got done on Townley road and got the ?130 ticket. I then went to a kids party and discovered pretty much every parent there had got similar fines. One had run up ?390 in a morning! He gave me the number of a successful contest at the London Tribunal - case number - 2210358293 - the PCN was not upheld. Reason being as you enter these areas by the time you are level with the signs it's virtually impossible not to drive through and get a fine!!! If you quote this number you should have your fines overturned for the same reason. Alternatively I think anyone living in the village should be made to wear luminous orange vests when they come to East Dulwich and bared from parking or using the shops there. -
If you're not concentrating 100% when you're driving sell your car and walk away. Yours A. Cyclist

Unbelievable! Just came to check up on my post and hear a huge bang outside! Massive crash on Barry Road. Three cars damaged. Someone needs to act. (see attached image)

Very encouraged by the responses to my original post here, thanks everyone. I am amazed that Melbourne Grove is on anyone's agenda for speeding. It's a narrow street packed with cars either side! If anything it suffers the reverse issue that it takes ages to drive up it. I cannot understand the focus on investing in speed bumps on roads like this that are narrow and where speeding is practically difficult/impossible whilst longer wider streets like Barry and Whateley go ignored and continue to be accident sites. I think I'm going to make a YouTube video of what I am seeing every day with my own eyes. Motorbikes, in particular, are accelerating to insane speeds on Barry. Since I wrote the original post I heard there was a huge accident with a car rolling over several times. In fact I find myself wondering if a speeding assessment is even needed? Surely the excess noise levels warrant action being taken sooner rather than later? MCMC

I've lived in this neighbourhood for several years now and it strikes me that the council have no issue investing our council tax on traffic calming in side roads where speeding is practically impossible yet on the longest, straightest road in the borough cars are regularly exceeding 50mph (the noise from some of the motorbikes is crazy) yet nothing is being done. Anecdotally I would say there is a big crash on this road once every 2-3 months and my other bugbear is people pulling out behind 12 bus on to the wrong side of the road and accelerating into oncoming traffic but that's another post. My question to my fellow residents is shouldn't we have a couple of cameras here at least?

BMW M135i stolen Saturday morning oakhurst grove
MCMC replied to slims's topic in Lost, Found or Stolen
I am so sorry to hear this. I have lost a BMW and two motorbikes in the 3 years I have lived here. The car keys now live in a box at the back of the house at night. The last bike was caught on several CCTVs systems. So many neighbours have them I was able to find a good recording. Worth asking around. My BMW was driven around the corner and found 6 months later in a towing yard in Greenwich!! Good luck -
Violent Mugging in East Dulwich (March 2nd 2017)
MCMC replied to andrewfinch1994's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Andrew So sorry to hear this happened to you, what a terrible experience. The same thing happened to me when I was near your age, when I was mugged on a train at knifepoint and it takes a long while to process and will probably affect you for a while. Make sure you get some help if you need it mentally. The thing to bear in mind is that you could have been anyone and ultimately you'll get back on your feet and go somewhere in your life whereas these people will only end up getting caught and going to prison. Maybe not tomorrow but they have chosen a crap future and you are studying, working hard and you'll be OK my friend. Hope they get caught soon! PEACE Michael -

We were not insured for the losses. Thank God we were in to scare him off. Now we have 4 front door locks, CCTV (I just filmed my motorbike being nicked in all it's glory) and a Yale alarm. -
Burglary on Upland Road (Dec 4th 2015)
MCMC replied to 22fdunst's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Answering two questions: Police told me burglaries are at record levels in SE22 and well orchestrated. We only used a basic Yale lock. The Police demonstrated how these can be opened with a cut up shampoo bottle (terrifyingly easy). Now we use dead bolts which can only be opened with the keys. I think 54 burglaries in one month is anyone's definition of "completely out of control". http://www.crime-statistics.co.uk/postcode/Se22%209pf -

This is awful. We were broken into at 11am on Saturday. We think the burglar thought we were out so he got the shock of his life. Now we have deadlocks that you can twist on internally very easily. Police told us it's completely out of control in SE22 anyone without a burglar alarm box is at most risk.
