  1. So what Southwark schools are taking action tomorrow? There might be some parents who don't mind their children taking the tests. What do their teachers think about kids not turning up?
  2. I feel for you. My daughter was referred to Greenwich orthodontics in the end as Dulwich Orthodontics seemed geared towards private treatment and making money.
  3. Hopefully this will be found by owner tomorrow but coat is still on railings this evening as I walked through park. Has a name inside. Now gone as of Friday 29th.
  4. Sorry to hear about your bike and the sheer audacity of it being stolen! My son had his bike cut away from outside ED train station a while ago and there's a lot of it going on in the area of Grove Vale. Hope you've informed the police so they get to know what's going on.
  5. Well the OP was active on the forum last night and must have seen replies.
  6. Surely the OP would have done some homework on where's best to park? Seems a strange question as they probably know parking is a problem anyway.
  7. Bellenden, maybe your mum/mum-in-law hasn't spent much time with your youngest as they're still quite young and still being breastfed but things can change. I do feel for you though and as the location is so far away I would have probably not gone if I had a young child and a 13 month old. Like Ellie78 with her situation, I had a very ill time the day after the birth of my youngest (now 17) when I couldn't make any decisions but know she was well looked after by my Mum (God rest her soul) for over a week while I got better. With her and my mum-in-laws help I don't know how I would have got through.
  8. That's good you took the poor cat to the vets. Other people might walk on by and leave him/her in the roadside!
  9. That's great for you Kate, although I'm surprised the Herne Hill Practice are taking on new patients if they're re-directing existing patients to another place!
  10. Why would bodsier make that figure up?
  11. Yes it's hard if you want to drive a car or walk in Southwark (or anywhere) as cyclists are in the right always! They can jump lights and do whatever they want, including having no lights and breaking speeding limits.
  12. It's called the Knight's Hill Surgery which is inside the West Norwood Health and Leisure Centre opposite the train station.
  13. Sorry to hear you are having problems with your GP Kateford. The Herne Hill Group Practice are good (and I've been with them over 30 years) but find if you can't get an appointment then you're re-directed to a hub in West Norwood which I've had to get to a couple of times.
  14. Bessemer closed their children's centre last year.
  15. Southwark made cutbacks to people opening up/closing their parks a few years ago so they can't be everywhere at once. The smaller parks are sometimes the last ones to close but it doesn't always work like that. I've been thrown out at 4pm in the past.
  16. Thanks for starting this post dbboy and what a great photo of the now Primark store in Peckham. I remember it and the C&A store. Personally, I love BHS in Lewisham and Croydon (check out their home wares not just the clothes, although they do some great swimwear and gifts) although some of their space is for Dorothy Perkins and Wallis and the men's section have other named sections inside the store so wonder what will happen to them if BHS goes? Also noticed over the past couple of years that the Lewisham branch don't have enough staff on the checkouts. Hope the Lewisham branch don't lose their caf?/eatery to the food section if it comes.
  17. Well the governing body of Fairlawn should all be sacked really if they knew this was coming! And after offering places for this summer! Edited to say this was a crosspost and I was referring to an earlier post.
  18. But according to Lewisham's website the government announcement to them in Dec 15 meant they have to make cutbacks of ?80 Million this year in services so I can see where yas is coming from!
  19. That's great you posted this Champagne. Looks like the OP hasn't been on the forum for a while and didn't leave a contact number.
  20. CLAU I would just say (by telephone or email) that you are going to come along one day to see the manager at a nursery and see what they say. I know what you mean about nurseries not having a website but that is something virtual and you need to speak to somebody in real life!. As a childminder working towards the EYFS it is virtually impossible. I've been a registered childminder for over 15 years and other settings have never worked with or contacted me as another provider.
  21. Yes, we've had problems so you're not alone.
  22. For Southwark you could always phone the 0207 525 5000 number and ask for the Family Information Service to find out which nurseries (or childminders) offer the 15hrs.
  23. He is still very young and I quite take offence at quoting the South London dialogue as a factor in speech development! Your post this morning ending "Fanks" wasn't necessary!
  24. Looks like this is definitely happening as per a Public Notice in the Southwark News last Thursday.
  25. As far as I can make out it's going to come down Sunray Avenue as normal, then turn on the mini roundabout and go back up Sunray Avenue (there's some signs on the roundabout) which seems a bit difficult but we shall see. Drove about today to see where the P4 will be going as other half uses it. It will be going up Sunray Avenue then turning right onto Denmark Hill going down to the Nandos at Camberwell and turning left onto Coldharbour Lane completely cutting out the whole of Herne Hill Road.
